This content belongs to a globally-locked LTA sockpuppet. See Sockpuppet investigation on Commons, Wikidata, and enwiki. This user, through block evasion on IP addresses, has continued his campaign of forcing his work into every article possible, regardless of quality or worthiness of other files. See this IP and this IP and this IP ad nauseam. The only way to stop this abuse of forcing photos into articles is to delete the photos themselves and to w:WP:DENY recognition to the abusive sockpuppets. The reasoning is thus: the photos existing here are the attractive force which brings Orlando back to edit and abuse dozens of Wiki projects. Let us remove his incentive to abuse us any further.

Spelling is a very strange quibble for Alsace, where multiple spellings are common, thanks to the intersection of several dialects.

I am only using this image to introduce myself and have no idea why it should be removed. 61.120. 241.1 has a past of persistently demanding the removal of other images I've uploaded, making it look like a stalker and very creepy. It is true, I used to upload images that were in breach of copyright, but they have all been deleted. I would be very sad and unable to recover if this image of my introduction was deleted. And I'll be disappointed in Wikipedia. Also, my anger at 61.120.241.1 is growing. 61.120. 241.1 has no profile of himself, which is extremely unfair. I'm prepared to complain that 61.120.241.1 is stalking me.

Décidément, l'épidémie de suppressionnite aigüe fait encore des ravages sur les neurones de certains contributeurs de Wikipedia !
Pour ce qui concerne la poupée/peluche "Kiki" ou "Moncchichi", il s'agit d'un jouet. Hors, ce jouet a été créé par Yoshiaru Washino, comme indiqué dans l'article Wikipedia, un Japonais. Et au Japon, les jouets ne sont pas considérés comme des oeuvres d'art et n'ont absolument pas de propriété intellectuelle. Dans le paragraphe "I know that I can't upload photos of copyrighted art (like paintings and statues), but what about toys? Toys are not art!" de la page "Commons:Derivative works", il est essentiellement fait mention des États-Unis. Hors, j'ai uploadé cette image pour le Wikipedia français. Les lois françaises, notamment celles concernant la "liberté de panorama" et les "droits à l'image", sont déjà bien assez ubuesques et grotesques pour aller, de surcroît, se faire chier avec celles des Américains. Je ne sais pas ce qu'il en est exactement du droit des jouets en France en ce qui concerne les personnages comme Kiki, mais si rien n'est précisé, alors il y a un vide juridique. Dans ce cas, le bon sens pragmatique veut que l'on ait le droit de charger une photo comme la mienne sur le WP français. Si vous ne voulez pas qu'elle apparaisse sur le WP d'une langue de pays tatillons tels les US, faites en sorte que sa diffusion soit restreinte en dehors de la France. Pour ma part, je ne sais pas faire et à vrai dire je m'en tamponne les bouliches ! Démerden-Sie sich !

The Haibao design is copyrighted. Therefore, all the pictures are clear examples of derivative works. None of the images seems to be a permanent installation, therefore, no freedom of panorama can be claimed. Finally, in all the photographs, Haibao is the main and relevant element, so that de minimis cannot be claimed.

Photos of Copyrighted Characters are OK as Long as Artist Gets Attribution

Under Chinese copyright law, as long as the creator of the Haibao character is attributed in each photo's data file, these photos are legal.

To remove the photos would be in overcautious error.

  • Is the "provided that the name of the author and the title of the work are mentioned" clause fulfilled just by including the attribution in the file or in any use of the image?
At the moment, none of the pictures (but the one you've mentioned) is attributed.

Very brilliant exemple of a contributor seeking reconnaissance of his expertise in copyright law. Five years after the event, this destruction of a collection of popular art in China seems out of the scope of Wikimedia Commons rules protecting the authors. A legal reply from the Chinese Supreme Court states that public space works meant to be temporarily exhibited are not "artistic works located or on display in a public place." Since the Haibao is meant to be temporal, it fails to be eligible for court-dependent Chinese freedom of panorama.

This user has uploaded a whole bunch of clear copyvios from Facebook, see his talk page, and looking at the rest of his contributions, I don't think the ones I'm nominating are his own work either. This uploader seems to be confused about copyrights. You can't just take a picture from the internet or scan it from a book, upload it here with a CC license and think it's ok if you just properly credit the real creator or say that the author is unknown. No, there are terms to be observed, usually 70 years after the death of the author; only then does the work enter the public domain and it is (usually) ok to upload it here. Please read Commons:Licensing for more details.

According to https://www.lieder.net/lieder/get_author_texts.html?AuthorId=22644 Ingeborg Björk died in 1960. (Lundahl died in 1951 so that's not an issue), Undelete in 2031 when this becomes public domain in Sweden. This was copyrighted in 1928 so it could be hosted on English Wikipedia next year.   • User:Abzeronow is again correct, the image is not in the LOC Collection (but not all are scanned yet, 28,000 film negatives in the collection have not been digitized) where it would have been released into the public domain. The Washington Star did not renew copyright, but that would only apply to images that were attributed to "staff photo" or something similar. It is up to the copyright holder to renew, not the entity that licensed the image for publication. H&E did not renew either so "PD-US-not renewed", I changed the license. Furthermore, another similar file (File:3Fiber Infostrada.png), which I uploaded together with this one because I needed them to deal with those two specific brands used by Infostrada, has been deleted. The only thing in the present image that deviates from simple text is a caret symbol used to represent a roof. The deleted one you point to has many more complex elements (though I still suspect that even it might pass COM:TOO Italy, which is rather high).     unless legal precedents are found, i dont think it's a good idea to assume diagrams, which are composed of several not so simple shapes, to be too simple.
    Flag of Vancouver has a shield (consisting of three not so simple objects) and white and blue wavy stripes.
    Flag of Kawartha Lakes has a circle in gradient colours, two trees, and two wave shapes of two colours.

"Trademarked" is not the same as copyrighted. For example this image is trademarked, but is too simple to be protected by copyright. If you can dig up a citation that gradient colouring is sufficient to warrant copyright protection I'd be interested in seeing it, but the trademark status of the Calgary flag isn't relevant. "Trademarked" is not the same as copyrighted. Sure, but if something is trademarked there's an increased chance that the person who owns the trademark will sue over a copyright claim. Does that mean they would win? Not necessarily, but we are here to keep Wikimedia from getting taken to court. Trying to hedge DRs on whatever outcome might happen is out of our job description. Anyway, like RZuo says, there is no precedents to assume gradient coloring is not sufficient to warrant copyright in Canada and in the meantime that has been the standard in similar law countries. I believe this license tag is invalid - the "official document" status seems to apply to government documents like laws. There's no indication that it automatically makes all photos that include Egyptian passports uncopyrightable. German photographer Max Schirner died in 1952. So while his works are in the public domain in Germany now, these photographs were all published after 1927. They are therefore still protected in the US because of the URAA law and should be deleted. The files can be restored 95 + 1 years after (first) publication (for the images from the Um den Sportrekord book, that would be 1936 because the first edition was published in that year).

I don't know if that is true, the source page [3] does not mention this person and names Max Schirner as the author. The one person named Gerhard von Rosen de.wp has an article about, de:Gerhard von Rosen, was a painter who died in 1927, 9 years before the photo was taken. If the photo is from 1936, it's still protected in the US until the end of 2031 all the same though. If the photographer's name is corroborated and that person died not later that 1961, the file can be restored in 2032; else it should be restored in 2057 with {{PD-old-assumed}}. --Rosenzweig τ 17:06, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning File:Münnich Ferenc 1921.jpg, it's a completely different photograph from the listed Bojár Sándor photograph and he became a photojournalist in 1932 so if this was taken in 1921, it could be from an unknown photographer and likely public domain. The claim "If a photographer dies before a library acquires their collection, then it cannot be licensed in the future." is baseless. Even if the photographer is deceased, they will still have an estate, executors and agents who can agree such accession agreements to a library. There is a DR from 2017 that says that uploads from Fortepan as a source have to judged separately. Commons:Deletion requests/Photos by Ernő Kovács Márton And if evidence shows that they are the copyright holder, I'll immediately file an UDR for the other deleted file. Doubt that it's their own work. Ward had a career at 9 News from about the late 50's to 1969, and I don't think the uploader (Alexbarbershop) would be alive back then to take that photo. It also seems that it's a professional shot that was scanned, but I could not find the source online to help determine when it was taken and where it truly comes from. --reppoptalk 21:53, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
