For whatever reason can't seem to reply on there... Anyway it was a long time ago so I guess taking it off is fine.  Looks to me as the TLD is probably OK but some subs are likely questionable. They could always be blocked if needed. Best Herby talk thyme 08:11, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Herbythyme Great, thanks. Done. Odd it didn't let you reply... —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 15:47, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to make such a page but I realized it already has been made. I thought I deleted it but I'll find a way to get rid of the image and page itself ThatWikiLover (talk) 17:26, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Havng had my image deleted by you I hope you can help me tag it as "Non-free use rationale logo"

I believe adding a logo to a page about an organisation fits within the "Non-free use rationale logo" requirements.

You had previously deleted the image on 17 March 2024 which you can see here (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:AusPolSci)

Thanks AusPolSci (talk) 00:50, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AusPolSci! Per our policies, Wikimedia Commons actually does not accept any non-free uses, including "Non-free use rationale logo". You may be thinking of another wiki (perhaps the English Wikipedia?). For the English Wikipedia, see the bottom button (which says "Upload a non-free file") here. For other wikis, you may be able to upload it if it has a policy allowing it. A list of the wikis with those policies are here. Hope this helps! —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 04:17, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
The tag I am referring to is on this wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Non-free_use_rationale_logo)
This Template uses wikimedia as the place to house images.
Other templates exist for "Non Free Use" that apply to a variety of different scenerios.
AusPolSci (talk) 04:26, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AusPolSci That template is actually not for use on this wiki (Wikimedia Commons). It can only be used on the English Wikipedia. You can upload files to the English Wikipedia (not Wikimedia Commons) with the bottom button ("Upload a non-free file") at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:File_upload_wizard. Hope this helps! —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 04:51, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea that wikimedia was not part of wikipedia. This information is very useful and will help me many times in the future.
Thanks for letting me know.

Twinkle

[edit]

Hi, the gadget appears to be broken on the newer skin. Would you be able to take a look? 1989 (talk) 20:24, 7 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@1989 Sure! It looks like this was fixed in main Twinkle. I'll port over all of the improvements made since, erm, a year and a half ago, in the next few days. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 04:53, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@1989 Should be taken care of now! —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:12, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove wbayercom from the blacklist?

[edit]

Dear Admin Mdaniels5757,

Is it possible if you could look at this request by me and consider whether wbayercom could be removed from the blacklist? I se the images from this flickr account...and its all own work. All their flickr albums are own work. The flickr account owners are from Geneva, Switzerland from their website and they must be wealthy enough to travel to Asia...unlike me. Admin MGA73 also made a comment on my request. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 21:27, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Responded there. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 03:18, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment: Dear Mdaniels5757,

I don't upload images from this account at all. But Gbawden has been away and I don't know who else can now remove a good flickr account from a blacklist. If you look at the flickr account album images, its clearly own work and putting this account on the blacklist was a mistake. A blacklist is for clear flickrwashing or copyright violations and licensing them freely, not for FOP issues. Why would Commons ban images from this flickr account? It makes no sense. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:07, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CFD

[edit]

Dear Mdaniels5757, would you mind to tell me the steps must be followed for this situation? Because I'dont understand what do you mean by "cfd". CFA1877 (talk) 02:36, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CFA1877 Sorry for not being clear, "cfd" means Commons:Categories for discussion, a place where people can discuss whether a category should be kept, renamed, merged, or deleted. You can nominate a category for any of those things by clicking the "Nominate category for discussion" link. This link should be on a sidebar (left or right side, depending on your preferences), under the "tools" heading. (The names of the link and heading may be translated for your language.) Hope this helps! —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 02:44, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, very kind of you. I would like to apologize for causing you any inconvenience with this issue, but the other user has taken things to the extreme and it has been difficult for me to keep a cool head. Apart from the fact that I truly believed that this was the correct procedure. Regards. CFA1877 (talk) 02:52, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
