help

Hi @Yann. I'm a bit confused here. One of the two files shows Instagram reel as a previous publication but has enough EXIF data & quality but I doubt it being own work. What would be your advice in such cases? There's one more upload and that's also unlikely own. My mind says DR, but I'd want to hear from you. Regards, Aafi (talk) 13:25, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aafi: Yes, I agree that this seems a bit suspicious. A VRT permission is needed IMO. Yann (talk) 15:06, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ok. I started a DR. Regards, Aafi (talk) 16:50, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Was there a convincing reason to delete this image? Two hours ago, I replaced the {{Copyvio}} with an ordinary {{Delete}} as per instructions and explained at the talk page that the image (in that limited form) is released under Creative Commons license by the UK's National Portrait Gallery. I return now to find that you have deleted it anyway. What have I missed? JMF (talk) 13:29, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JMF: Commons:Deletion requests/John ('Jock') Middleton Campbell, Baron Campbell of Eskan seems entirely broken. Regards, Aafi (talk) 14:50, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JMF Hi, The license at source is CC-BY-NC-ND-3.0 which is not acceptable on Commons. This is a photograph by Godfrey Argent (1937-2006), so it is still under a copyright. And yes, your deletion request is broken. Yann (talk) 14:58, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Video files

Hello Yann, I had uploaded 19 videos of music production company:Saregama Carnatic Classical at Youtube, all licensed under: ‘Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)’ (mentioned in the bottom of description page of source). But somebody has nominated it for deletion without checking. Could you plz resolve the files? All listed in this category:Category:Videos of M. S. Subbulakshmi.
--Gpkp (talk) 17:00, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gpkp: The files are not deleted yet. You can contest the speedy deletion request to a regular one, and explain why they should be kept. I agree that a speedy DR is not the best anyway, as there is a free license at the source. However I am not sure if the license is valid. What is the relation between the YT account and the music authors? Yann (talk) 17:08, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Yann. --Gpkp (talk) 17:22, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Saregama is the offical owners who published and sold the music/songs of the authors under their Record label. They now own a Youtube account where they are uploading few of their music under free-license: ‘Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)’.
--Gpkp (talk) 17:47, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yann, this file: File:Srinivasa Thiruvenkata Carnatic Song with Lyrics M S Subbulakshmi Carnatic Vocal.webm is deleted. Is it possible to undelete it? It was free licensed by the official publishers of the music in Youtube. --Gpkp (talk) 18:06, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, done. Yann (talk) 18:28, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Yann. --Gpkp (talk) 06:37, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edit

Children of Punjab ('File')

Uploader has confirmed that he did not get any parental consent, to upload the file on Commons. This file should be deleted.

The uploader says "I did not go further to find out the parents of each one of them .. frankly that would have made them more suspicious about my intentions." VeritasVanguard (talk) 07:32, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just drop this. The uploader said there is no issue. Your edits are the problem now. Yann (talk) 08:12, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My advice is to Drop the Stick as Yann says. Abzeronow (talk) 17:08, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Abzeronow, what do you mean by saying, 'Your edits are the problem now'? Are you threatening me? VeritasVanguard (talk) 18:37, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, that is not a threat, just advice. Continuing to pursue this matter could at some point be considered disruptive. Abzeronow (talk) 22:25, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Erased files with FOP-MX

Hi Yann. I hope everything is fine. I am currently applying a education project in Mexico, with students. I think you erased theses files which were upload by one of those students:

On behalf of the person who uploaded them, a new user, I wanted to ask you to re-upload them.

These are photographs related to information about a mural (d:Q130709848) that is in a public space, a museum in Campeche, as established in FoP Mexico. Also, the photographs were taken by the person who uploaded them. If they cannot be re-uploaded in this way, I wanted to ask for permission to upload them again, with the corresponding template. Luisalvaz (talk) 16:46, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Luisalvaz: I copied your request on COM:UDR#Erased files with FOP-MX to have another opinion. Yann (talk) 10:22, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Poet Koichi Mitani(三谷晃一ファイル)

Hi,Yann. I was very surprised to learn that you are a foreigner. Thank you for contacting me. Regarding all materials related to the poet Mitani Koichi, including images 1. Lonely Cocoon and three other pieces 2. To the River Mouth and three other pieces, Mitani Koichi has already passed away in 2005 and has no children. I have met with the copyright holder, Ito Kazu, and have received permission to use all of Mitani's materials. Ito Kazu is an 82-year-old woman who does not use the Internet and cannot be confirmed in writing. I would appreciate your understanding and lifting the restrictions. Rubicon1215 Japan Rubicon1215 (talk) 02:29, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. All three books in the two images are poetry collections produced and published by the late poet Koichi Mitani, and do not include any works by other people. Therefore, all copyrights of the books in the images belong to Miss Kazu Ito.thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rubicon1215 (talk • contribs) 09:54, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Rubicon1215: Hi,
Please ask the copyright holder to confirm the permission via COM:VRT (or COM:VRT/ja in Japanese). Also ask them to send you a copy of the emails, so that you have the ticket number. Yann (talk) 10:04, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,Yann,Thank you for your mail. After careful consideration, I have unfortunately decided to give up on using this image and delete it. I appreciate your comment. Rubicon1215 (talk) 23:55, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of NASA FIRMS images

Hello Yann,

I see that you have deleted File:NASA FIRMS 2024-11-03 Kant.png and similar images, with reason "Copyright violation: No evidence that the satellite images were created solely by NASA. Copyrighted by Esri". As I have stated at the open DR Commons:Deletion requests/NASA FIRMS: Nowhere does Esri (nor NASA) claim that Esri holds the copyright of the Blue Marble static background distributed by NASA as part of their FIRMS service. Could I ask you to please address my reasoning at the DR before deleting more of these images? Thanks. Lklundin (talk) 22:32, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done OK, I undeleted these files. Yann (talk) 10:40, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Parliament Images Deleted

Hi Yann,

I uploaded a handful of images taken and uploaded by the UK Parliament, and you have removed them and placed a block warning on me. I uploaded these images based on the notion that images published by the UK Parliament were acceptable, with a multitude of other examples existing on Wikipedia Commons. Below are some of those instances which I based it on.

File:Clarke, May and Duncan 2019.jpg File:New Member group photograph - 2024 Parliament 09.07.2024.jpg File:Nigel Farage in Parliament.jpg

Among many others.

So if you can inform me why my images, uploaded from the same source, using the same copyright information (To my knowledge, maybe I did the wrong Creative Commons 3.0? If that is the case, a correction would have been better over an outright deletion and block warning) are any different from the aforementioned images, I would greatly appreciate it. DougDommadome (talk) 17:54, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DougDommadome: We don't accept NC or ND Creative Commons licenses because they're not free enough per COM:L. Abzeronow (talk) 18:03, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
