Copyrighted colorization of a black and white original with no source indicated. — Racconish 💬 10:42, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think it's any kind of colorization. The characters have no individual color, and the film is a solid color throughout. It's just a poor quality copy, probably downloaded from a TV. And only this version circulates on the Internet, among others like Youtube and archive.org. OGPawlis (talk) 14:25, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Keep, while it's not used in any content spaces it is used elsewhere. While I can't say that I'm a fan of this cringey song, it is a good example to illustrate the type of music that was considered to be "edgy" with the cultural sensitivities of 2006 (though I'd probably call it cringey in 2024). It certainly has educational value in illustrating the type of "edgy" music from the time period it was uploaded in, especially since we don't have any other examples. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 00:08, 9 January 2024 (UTC)- Struck over below, as it might be a copyright ©️ violation. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 00:31, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

I fail to see how a work published in 1969 can be PD-old-70. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:12, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Delete This work is copyrighted, in the US and probably also Uganda, for multiple reasons:
- The work was published in 1968, and 1968+50=2018, so it is impossible for the work not to have been URAA'd. Uganda is PMA 50 (not 70), which is shorter still than what was claimed, but not short enough for the work to be public domain in Uganda by 1996 (the URAA join date for Uganda and most everywhere else), unless there's some circumstance in Uganda I'm not aware of.
- Even if URAA was possible, that'd require a lack of following US copyright formalities. The only possibility in 1968 here would be a lack of a copyright notice, or a defective one. But the back cover of the book has a full copyright notice, as you can see on the scan itself and on IA. (Granted this is a 1969 reprint, so it's possible the original print missed a notice, but I doubt it, and this extremely scant possibility shouldn't be grounds for keeping it, unless proven to be true.)
- @Micheal Kaluba: (the uploader) So there seems to be some confusion here. PD-old-70 should only apply if it's also in the public domain in the United States. And the US copyright is the first thing to consider, since Wikimedia servers are located in the US. @Micheal Kaluba: Is there a reason you think this work is in the public domain in the United States, that I haven't considered here? This image is essentially a duplicate of this image. However, unlike the latter image, this image has a mistake with the distributions of Inuvialuktun and Inuktitut. Seeing as the only other difference between the two images is that this one doesn't label the smaller Eskaleut varieties, and it is already not in use on any Wikimedia projects, I see no reason why it should not just be deleted instead of corrected. – Treetoes023 (talk) 14:39, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

- Pieter, I am afraid my English is not good enough to understand what is the connection between Hollywood movie posters ,Israeli law, hamas poster, Palestinian National Authority under which jurisdiction Nablus (where the image was taken) is.I am afraid I also do not understand what did you mean under "Does Israel support the theory of equality under the law?" If I were not afraid that you'll report me to Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems, I would have said that yes, Israel supports the theory of equality under the law, For example Palestinian women, who are the citizens of Israel, have much more civil rights than women in Arab countries, but because I am afraid that you will report me on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems, may I please ask you to assume that I said nothing of the kind. (I retract my words right now :) ). Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 15:28, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it isn't possible to consider the poster as de minimis. Ralgistalk 02:49, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Comment No, not de minimis, and not under freedom of panorama either, from what I understand of the undeletion discussion. Some people in the previous deletion discussion seem to have made a different argument, similar to that for graffiti - that the author's actions are unlawful and so they would find it difficult to enforce any copyright they might hold over the image. --Avenue (talk) 11:22, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Keep I don't understand why this image is a candidate for deletion. I believe everything stated above is as it stands. Keep. Dinkytown (talk) 11:46, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment various photos of West Bank posters uploaded by me had been deleted, such as File:Bethlehem-pflpmartyr.JPG, File:Qalqiliya-alfposter.JPG, File:Bethlehem-plfelectionposter.JPG, Commons:Deletion_requests/Image:Bethlehem-fatahmartyr.JPG, Bethlehem-independentcandidates.JPG. If this poster could be undeleted, so should all of these. Or this one be deleted again. --Soman (talk) 11:11, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
Kept Under Israeli law, per the interpretation of what appears to be Israel's top copyright lawyer, FOP covers both 2D and 3D artistic works in a public place as long as they are meant to provide information, and these posters comply. There does not seem to be an extant text of Palestinian copyright law which we can peruse for a ruling, and none of us are legal authorities in either area to make a precedent ruling as to what version of UK law may or may not apply. Further, whether Israeli law or Palestinian law (which in this case does not seem to exist( applies in these areas is a matter of both hideous political debate and confusion. As such, the clearest indications are that this image, and those like it, are acceptable, and should be kept until proven to be in violation of a specific statute. -- Avi (talk) 18:27, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]All of these images seem to be unused fan-art created with DALL-E. Supposedly they are meant to illustrate the ideas in "Donna Haraway's essay "A Cyborg Manifesto." It's really clear how exactly they do that though. I assume any image of a female cyborg would. So the question needs to be answered as to how exactly these specific images serve an educational purpose. Especially within the context of what they supposedly represent and compared to the myriad of other amateur fan made images of female cyborgs out there, which aren't and can't be hosted on Commons.

Adamant1 (talk) 06:30, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Adamant1,
- They were created in a classroom setting as part of an experiment of social annotation of the text. We were using DALL-E as an experimental tool to render images from text snippets in a graduate class on the history and theory of technology in higher education, in ways that were not attempting to depict a predetermined outcome (ie: an image of a cyborg). Rather, the idea was to play with the text and image generation to see what came out of it. So 'fan art' isn't quite the accurate descriptor, though it's interesting that is the genre they are allocated with.
- Does that answer your question?

This file was initially tagged by Xover as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: First published in the UK in 1916, and not published in the US until November 1919. As such any still non-expired pma. 70 copyrights in the UK makes this ineligible for hosting on Commons. A list of vitals for the included authors can be found on https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index_talk:Soldier_poets,_songs_of_the_fighting_men,_1916.djvu and includes at least one that lived until 1973.

- I don't have a problem with the photograph, as it clearly illustrates what stretch marks look like on an adult man. There is the visible male genitalia, but it isn't a gratuitously obscene display, and it ensures that the photo is definitely that of a male. My only concern is that it says 18 year old man. Is that legal age everywhere? I get confused between what is allowed for 18 year olds versus 21 year olds. If it is legal, then it is okay.

Relevant discussion from one of the file talk pages:
- On this page is stated under Licensing of User Content: " You may only contribute content which is in the public domain (i.e., expired copyright or public from inception) or otherwise available through a CC0 “No Rights Reserved” license, or content for which You are the rights holder. Certain content may also be contributed if it complies with applicable fair use or quotation standards and/or represents an item You are listing for sale in the marketplace (i.e., images, specific item information)."
- And on this page is stated under Intellectual Property Rules: "1. Image is Public Domain (expired copyright or public from inception); or 2. You own the rights to the image and agree to make it available via a CC0 "No Rights Reserved" license; or 3. Image is already made available through a CC0 "No Rights Reserved" license; or 4. Fair Use – any image representing a physical or digital product in the Discogs Database for the purpose of critical commentary or for the purpose of reselling a physical product under the First Sale Doctrine.
Comment It's worth noting that the images can be found elsewhere on the web at higher resolutions, and if there's a way to see who uploaded images to Discogs and when, I couldn't find it. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 04:42, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Deleted: Just because Discogs requires its users to upload content only with CC0 licenses, there's no way to guarantee that they are actively enforcing this. The likelihood of license laundering is extremely high. - The deletion requester originally claimed that this file (created in 2009) was a duplicate of File:Vivian_Schmitt_cropped.jpg (created in 2010). But the deletion requester changed the claim of duplication to this image being a duplicate of File:Vivian_Schmitt_cropped2.jpg (a version uploaded by me after the opening of this deletion request). - If, as you claim, there are "too many versions that look exactly the same" (i.e. you claim there are all the same) and given that most of this versions are versions that you originally overwrote in other files and then other users (like me) split to new filenames, then why did you.
- 1 - You cannot claim one thing at one time when you overwrite files and its contrary in the next time someone reverts you. Overwrote the original versions of several files, claiming that your versions were an improvement but now, after being reverted and having your versions moved to new filenames, you claim that there are "too many versions that look exactly the same" when you previously claimed that your versions were an improvement?
- 2 - Either they you claim that your versions are improvements or they are eactly the same as the originals. You cannot claim one thing at one time and its contrary in the next time. If your versions, keeping with the logic of your tought, look exactly the same as the original versions why you overwrote the original versions of several files in the first place if they "look exactly the same"? Out of scope: plain text. This is not in scope as a source document for Wikisource, as it is both an extract and a work of fiction from after 1928; please see s:Wikisource:What Wikisource includes for details. Omphalographer (talk) 18:08, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Historyradio (talk) 21:54, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- The long and the short of it is that:
- Wikisource only accepts documents which are from before 1929 (i.e. whose US copyright has expired due to age), or specific categories of newer documents. This content is modern, and is not one of the classes of newer documents which is allowed.
- On top of that, Wikisource only accepts complete, original documents. This is neither.
- Commons generally does not host plain text content, outside of scans of source documents for Wikisource or print-ready versions of content already hosted by other Wikimedia projects (e.g. print copies of content from Wikibooks). This is, again, neither.
- For details, please refer to Commons:Project scope#PDF and DjVu formats.

- If it’s out of scope for Wikimedia then I can reupload it at Wikisource. But I don’t think it’s out of scope since we don’t have a copy of the original text, and the work is wholly in the public domain. A transcription of such a work is helpful to have when other options are not available. I would Keep until we have a more proper scan. SDudley (talk) 18:33, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

FakeSVG. A defaked version already exists at File:Flag of Ali Ahmad Khan's rebellion against Habibullah Kalakani (defaked svg-version).svg. Not an exact duplicate, though, so it doesn't apply for F8. Rubýñ (Talk) 23:22, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Rubýñ and Mrmw: What does "defaked" mean? —holly {chat} 19:50, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- It's fixing a FakeSVG. You de-fake it; make it not fake anymore. I'm not actually sure if that's the term generally used, but it's the one that the non-fake file uses in its name, so I used it here. Sorry for any confusion.
- I would usually just overwrite a vectorized version of FakeSVGs like this, but this one has been vectorized already, yet uploaded as a separate file. It's against policy to delete superseded images only because they're superseded, but this one is apparently inaccurate. Fixing it would either keep it inaccurate or make it a duplicate of the defaked version, both of which are undesirable. Rubýñ (Talk) 20:32, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- OK, I have ordered a universal replace, but CommonsDelinker isn't running at the moment. I'll process the deletion after that's done. —holly {chat} 20:40, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
