Delete The photograph is taken by Mohammad-Hossein Velayati for Fars News Agency so {{Fars}} applies, but the image on the sign makes this file a derivative work. The sign is an identifiable and an unavoidable part of the subject. Not sure if it can be considered Commons:De minimis and although I found out that part of the picture is freely licensed (taken from this file) and think the text part can be considered PD, the whole sign seems to be copyrighted (unless the protected parts are blurred). I personally would not hesitate to do this because I think that edited photograph (a blurred sign in the middle of nowhere) does not add anything to Commons. The file is an image of a Buddha statue in Fo Guang Shan Temple, Taiwan, which it is built in 1975, and is considered a artwork exceding the limit of COM:TOO. As Taiwan copyright law require that any non-photo works will be in public domain 50 years after the last author was dead, without granting FOP for any non-architectural works, the file is likely unfree. 廣九直通車 (talk) 12:45, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

- @Wikiman5676: No, I agree that the image was taken by yourself. However, in some countries/regions (eg. France), artworks or/and buildings may be copyrighted by the author(s), while others (eg. China) will grant permission for such images, which is known as the freedom of panorama. In these previous cases, the file is unfree and unsuitable to be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. As Taiwan does not grant FOP for artworks, and the statue is built in 1975, the conditions of Template:PD-Taiwan is unlikely to be fulfilled (50 years after the (last) author died), and the file may be unfree. According to the freedom of panorama link you gave in the Taiwan section, it says "Reproduction of a work of sculpture by production of another sculpture." is not free. I'm not sure if that would count, is it really a reproduction of another sculpture by production of another sculpture? this rule can't just apply to photos of any statue or no statues in taiwan would be allowed unless they are really old. I am not familiar with this law in Taiwan of course as I am American, so if this does indeed violate the rule you should explain why its a reproduction of a sculpture by production of another sculpture, or perhaps that English explanation on the link you provided needs to be more clear. Are there any other editors who are familiar with the proper interpretation of this rule? If your interpretation of the law is indeed accurate or if this is indeed a reproduction of a sculpture by production of another sculpture than of course it should be removed. - and an extra note, the threshold for originality link you put says this of calligraphy, but not of statues. granted it could apply to statues, but if so that really needs to be put as an example because statues are much more commonly used as images on commons than photos of calligraphy. The person that this statue honors died in 1995, thus the sculptor is unlikely to be dead for more than 50 years. Taiwan does not grant commercial freedom of panorama for non-architecture. Taiwan does not grant commercial freedom of panorama for non-architecture. According to long standing consensus and Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Germany stamps are not "official works" of the German government. Therefore they are not in the public domain and their copyright expires 70 years after the death of the creator. The designer of this stamp died in 1976. So it's copyrighted until at least 2,046. According to long standing consensus and Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Germany stamps are not "official works" of the German government. Therefore they are not in the public domain and their copyright expires 70 years after the death of the creator. In this case the creator Klaus Bernsdorf seems to have been alive since at least 1986. According to w:en:Adrenocorticotropic hormone, "ACTH consists of 39 amino acids". This structure consists of only 7. Perhaps it is intended as a representative fragment of the full protein (or some other peptide entirely), however the 3D geometry is entirely wrong because all atoms are shown as coplanar which isn't chemically possible. Per Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory/Germany stamps are not ""official works" and therefore copyrighted until 70 years after the artist's death. In this case the artist, Gerd Aretz, died in 1973. So the image is copyrighted until at least 2,043. Same goes for the following images. Someone might be able to argue that the 3 images of postal covers are de minimis since the stamps aren't the main elements of the image, but it's never been clear to me what their copyright status is. So I'm leaving it up to others to decide. Thanks.

For those where no artist is named on the stamp, German copyright expired 70 years after publication ({{PD-Germany-§134-KUG}}), and for those with named artists, it's 70 years pma. One engraver also named died in 1978, so the German copyright for that stamp will expire at the end of 2048. The URAA restored the US copyright of all stamps, so they are all currently protected in the US. - I sent this to copyvio because I would think that the copyright of the painting is from the creator of the painting, not the owner of the painting. Because Patterson is presumably the painter, the copyright is attributed to him. Since he died in 1985 the copyright would last until about 2055 since it's creators life + 70 years when it's a work published after 2002. - I assume Sky Deutschland is incorporated in Germany. According to Wikipedia "Sky Deutschland GmbH, branded as Sky, is a German media company that operates a direct broadcast satellite Pay TV platform in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (through Sky Switzerland)." So I don't see how it would be at all beholden to British laws. If anything maybe Switzerlands, at least for broadcasting. But from what I can tell the only connection they have to the United Kingdom is the parent company. It would be ridiculous if they could somehow got around following German laws just because of that though. Obviously branches of global corporations have to follow the laws of the countries they operate or are incorporated in. - I assume Sky Deutschland is incorporated in Germany. According to Wikipedia "Sky Deutschland GmbH, branded as Sky, is a German media company that operates a direct broadcast satellite Pay TV platform in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (through Sky Switzerland)." So I don't see how it would be at all beholden to British laws. If anything maybe Switzerlands, at least for broadcasting. But from what I can tell the only connection they have to the United Kingdom is the parent company. It would be ridiculous if they could somehow got around following German laws just because of that though. Obviously branches of global corporations have to follow the laws of the countries they operate or are incorporated in. This file does not link to its source. It should, especially given that it is tagged {{cc-by-3.0-au|attribution=[[:en:Services Australia|Australian Government (Services Australia)]]}}. Instead, it just links to a Wikipedia article.
The Services Australia website copyright notice says that most material is licensed under CC BY 3.0 AU, which is a good start. The coat of arms is exempt and the attribution © Commonwealth of Australia is required (this file violates both conditions). A bigger problem is that neither I (searching manually) nor TinEye can find this screenshot on that website.

- RodRabelo7, only the photos from Facebook lack the EXIF, and the reason seems quite clear to me: Facebook itself removes any EXIF info from its photos. Per German admin's inputs at Commons:Undeletion requests/Archive/2022-12#File:Berlin Hi-Flyer Sept14 views04.jpg, the situation hasn't changed to a great extent. While a lower regional court (Landgericht Frankfurt) may had provided a more progressive approach to German FOP by allowing aerial photography, it remains to be seen when the highest courts of German land – Bundesgerichtshof, Bundesverwaltungsgericht, Bundesfinanzhof, and Bundesarbeitsgericht – would make similar decisions allowing the use of special equipments like drones to freely reproduce public buildings from a view not normally dedicated to public access (like mid-air) without architects' licensing permits. So far, none has made such decision, and out of 110+ regional courts throughout Germany, only Landgericht Frankfurt made a contradictory decision that seems to oppose the legal tradition of Germany with regards to German FOP. Hence the lower court's ruling cannot be relied on by Commons in accordance with COM:Project scope/Precautionary principle.

- Comment Newest case law, by the OLG Hamm (a higher court than the Landgericht Frankfurt), says that drone shots are not covered by German freedom of panorama. See [8]. This makes the Frankfurt decision an outlier more than ever IMO. - Keep, This painting is found on the source (which claims ownership) and released with cc-by-4.0 license (as it was correctly reviewed by an admin before). It has 14.45 MB of size and 6,180 × 8,652 dimensions, there is no reason to think that khamenei.ir, which is known to have editorial staff and huge amounts of resources, does not own the rights to this high-quality file. - Don't know about the copyright but this picture and many more from Tasnimnews and Farsnews are from officially designated terrorist organization (IRGC) and this could be legally problematic possibly under 18 U.S. Code § 2339B. Farsnews.com lost its .com domain and resorted to hacking to keep it (and it's gone now). - This is a poster glorifying a designated terrorist (who has been on the list of terrorists since 90s). Maybe one file could be okay to example the propaganda but I'm not sure it's worth having everything possible due to the legal risk they pose and lack of educational value ("out of scope"). This looks like a screenshot from a movie or something due to the weird lighting, angle, and quality. I also doubt it's the uploaders own work. Since it was taken in 1956 and they would have been a kid at the time. So it should be deleted as copyvio unless the uploader can provide evidence that they took the photograph. - I had thought about that, but according to PD-Spain-photo it only covers "simple photographs" (whatever that means) and I wouldn't call this simple. More so if it's a screenshot of a video like I suspect. Do have any thoughts on what would or wouldn't constitute a "simple photograph" though? - @Adamant 1: - without oversimplifying it (because each country has different views), a simple photo would be one where minimal thought has gone into creating the photo e.g. a spur of the moment photo of a group of actors on the street as you're passing by. In contrast, a non-simple photo might involve the photographer arranging where each of the actors stands and the pose they take, and deciding on the lighting, similar to a photo shoot. - @Modern Sciences Please keep calm and provide solid arguments for your claim instead of making accusations. The claim that this file "is owned by creator not by any agency to published in public" has to be proven. Khamenei.ir website is known to rely on a huge amount of resources and spreads content in multiple languages, I would not wonder if it has a few hundred employees on payroll (fun fact: Khamenei is also known to be personally interested in these kind of paintings). Besides, the size of this file is 20.13 MB for dimensions 5,906 × 8,268, which is pretty high-quality. The website explicitly says it is the publisher (I'm sure you can read the part it states "KHAMENEI.IR... publishes..." without any help). So you have to prove the contrary. Who is the artist (other than someone paid by khamenei.ir) and where did they publish this painting if this not an original work of this website? - Delete First, owning a work of art does not give the owner the right to freely license it as we require. That right remains with the creator until transferred in a written license.
- Second, "The claim that this file "is owned by creator not by any agency to published in public" has to be proven" has the burden of proof backwards. It is up to the uploader to prove beyond a significant doubt that tKhamenei.ir actually has the right to freely license the image.
- Third, the license says,
- ""All Content by Khamenei.ir is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License."
- That is not clear -- it does not apply to this work of art unless it was created by a Khamenei.ir employee with a work for hire agreement in place or by an outside artist with a written instrument allowing Khamenei.ir to freely license the work.

- In my opinion the source determines whether these doubts are reasonable or not, this particular source is well-known for having editorial staff (and employees that create content in 13 languages and publish online magazines too). If media credits these propaganda posters to khamenei.ir and even Khamenei himself explains the meaning behind them in his public speeches (please see this, which is about this file that we host), why should we think they are not created by employees of Khamenei.ir? The watermark of the Khameni.ir image appears to be fully integrated into the initial artwork: it is clearly behind the layer of the original vector image that gives the speckled pattern and in front of the background of the image that appears to be an illustration of trees of some sort. - @RodRabelo and Red-tailed hawk: These photos were taken in the Palácio do Planalto which according to en:Palácio do Planalto#Public access and security is open to public visitation on Sundays, from 9:30 am to 2 pm. However, all the photos in the category were taken on 2018-12-27, which is a Thursday. Furthermore, these photos could have been taken in a non-public spot in the building, so I say that these images should be deleted under COM:PCP Matr1x-101 {user - talk? - useless contributions} 16:07, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
