Possible copyvio
[edit]Hello, about this message you left on my talk page regarding a possible copyvio, I have to tell that the "Rosario Noticias" is a website of the Municipality of Rosario site, which contents are under a CC license.
I had uploaded the file in good faith but unfortunately it was removed by an admin before I could switch the CV to a DR to discuss the topic there. Fma12 (talk) 00:54, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- sure, but sub-sites may not carry the same licensing, as mentioned, the noticias site has a "Todos los derechos reservados' "All rights Reserved" at the bottom of the page and the image you posted had a copyright info in the EXIF which had "Copyright - @ Raúl Schivazappa" so noticias don't own the right to that image.. Broken Flickr review bot
[edit]Dear Stemoc,
I don't know if you saw this Notice here but the Flickrbot has stopped working since March 9, 2024 and there is a Backlog of more than 9,000 images now for review. Perhaps you can fix the flickrbot. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:50, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- I did ask a few times the last 2 days but devs don't like touching other people's "tools" (yes there is a joke in there somewhere) and since this has happened again for no reason (weirdly again while marking images with the public domain mark), its better if the mainintainer find the issue, unfortunately all Maintainers of the tool are either retired or MIA (steinsplitter/zhuyifei99/Eatcha) @Stang and @Multichill are probably the only active (semi) users with access to the bot.. Stemoc 15:05, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Somehow, someone got the flickr review bot to work again. Thanks again Stemoc. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 20:32, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Sadly, the Flickrbot has stopped working again I agree that some users especially Pirrytefan have been uploading poor quality images..and worse with no license at all. But the flickrbot stopping again is not a good sign. Goodnight from Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 11:36, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Wikibreak?
[edit]@Stemoc, here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard&diff=prev&oldid=880422306 [1] you said, "I won't be around anymore after a few weeks..." Are you taking a wikibreak? I appreciate your cropped photos. Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 18:21, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- nah, leaving for good, projects are no longer worth the effort...will still be active on facebook and discord for a while but not commons.. Stemoc 14:48, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you will return someday in the future.
- Would you be willing to write some observations about Commons and reasons for leaving, so that others (and myself) may understand why the Commons Project is loosing a long-term volunteer contributor such as yourself? -- Ooligan (talk) 15:41, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!
[edit]Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
