- Delete most I agree on most of these. Uploaded under the Wiki Loves Earth initiative, however the dog does dominate the landscape unfortunately. I think the best one which does capture the great scenery is File:Sailung 878.jpg and possibly File:Sailung 872.jpg. It would be a shame to loose the scenery, albeit with a dog in it, so I vote to keep those two (along with the best one of the dog as nominated), delete the rest. Thanks. [edit]With apologies to those who do not like big nominations, I do not see any indication of own work on these images. There are historic pictures, postage stamps, images that appear to be from google street images, others of Facebook or Twitter sizes. Some have overprinting. Absolutely none of them have any useful metadata relative to camera. Some have ghostly overprinting such as arrows, words, etc.

[edit]Two of these photos are Facebook sized, one has transmission data, the others have no meta data but are unlikely own work. One has copyright data in the meta, the other two do not. There are three different cameras in metadata, and two pictures without camera data. These are all indications of "not own work" along with the widely varying file sizes and qualities. But of course the (C) data in one of the photos meta and the transmission data and file sizes really support that these are collected from internet.

- Delete - It's an image of an identifiable minor that appears to be indoors. There might be a reasonable expectation of privacy (ambiguous, since it may be open to the public). We have lots of pictures of people on trampolines, including outdoors, with lots of people around. We don't need this image (unless there's a usage I'm unaware of because it was removed form an article I hadn't thought of). So, barring new information, the safest thing, seems to be to delete it. Perhaps we could trust the uploader to not violate somebody's privacy, but when the uploader themselves is saying there's a privacy issue, then there's a privacy issue. Note, I agree the copyright release is irrevocable. But, copyright isn't the issue. --Rob (talk) 00:41, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

- @Jeff G.: I don't think we can know who the parent(s) are, or if they approve, or if the kid approves. I see it was removed from en:Trampoline, which is stuffed with images already, including an indoor trampoline park, with multiple kids, that don't focus on any one. I understand the desire to respect other projects, and not remove images they lawfully use. But, in this case, it seems the uploader/nominator both added, then removed the image. There's nothing remotely unique or valuable in the image. An automated message appeared on the talk page of the article 21 days ago, giving anybody a chance to chime in. Nobody is arguing the image actually has value. The only arguments I see, are that we can, therefore we should, keep the image. --Rob (talk) 07:42, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

This is a deliberately offensive crop of a notable historical figure, ref File:FukuzawaYukichi.jpg. The crop was created by a banned long term disruptive sockpuppeteer as a long running pattern of creating racist criminal style "mug shots" of various portraits of people to mislabel them as stereotypes of races of white, black, yellow, brown and orange people. Refer to User:Fæ/Scientific racism cases.
There is no such thing as a Negroid race or a Mongoloid race, and though the historic concepts may be validly illustrated by using images from material of the time, retrospectively cropping his portrait, losing his identity, and calling this Japanese Writer a "Mongoloid", which was the single reason this crop was created and previously named "Japanese Mongoloid", is not a reason to continue to host the crop of the main portrait.
This is out of scope as it has only negative educational value, in a deliberate sustained campaign over a period of years to promote misinformation about scientific racism. Fæ (talk) 07:21, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

- I left a note on the pixabay image I uploaded:
- Could you please clarify the copyright status of this image and the other images listed here https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_found_with_Pixabay_12019
- I uploaded this one to the wikipedia, and other people uploaded other images you put on pixabay, and then a skeptic came along, and voiced doubts you took all these fine image, yourself.
- They claimed their research found this image was taken in 2006 by someone from the Dutch Navy.
- Paul 012, of course we should have procedures where we decided to blacklist sites. Since there is/was a bot that confirmed Pixabay licenses, similar to flickrreview, I'd like to review that discussion. Please link to that discussion here. Geo Swan (talk) 23:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

- This isn't covered under FoP. This is a close crop that shows only the work of artistic craftsmanship that is permanently situated in a public place or building. This is specifically permitted under Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42) section 32.2 (1) (b) (ii). --Robkelk (talk) 01:45, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

- @Josve05a: , does that consensus include a legal opinion, gien by a lawyer familiar with Canadian law? --Robkelk (talk) 20:24, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how that text has evolved over time (check the history) or been reached, but as with any other policy/guideline document here on Commons, it is a working document based on past interpretations in previous deletion requests and on COM:VP/C. It is also mentioned in the {{FoP-Canada}} template since 2009, that Commons current view is that this is not ok. Please elaborate why you think it would be. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 20:28, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Canadian law was originally derived from UK concepts and some of Commons:Copyright rules by territory/United Kingdom may therefore be of relevance, in particular the restricted legal meaning of "work of artistic craftsmanship". Some non-sculptural works can qualify for Canadian FOP under this clause, such as Body Shop Yonge.jpg for example. The freedom provided by the quoted section does not apply to typical two-dimensional works such as paintings, murals, advertising hoardings, maps, posters or signs. These cannot be uploaded to Commons without a license from the copyright holder even if they are permanently located in a public place, unless they are in the public domain.

Technical nomination: Copyvio tag has been improperly removed, see COM:DG#Speedy deletion. Verbcatcher (talk) 13:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- History: A {{Copyvio}} tag was added to the file by Ghoyt98, as follows:
- Copyvio|This photo is not in the public domain as it is a photo that was copy and pasted from the Nashua Telegraph|source=https://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/2019/02/15/sununu-proposes-13-1-billion-two-year-budget/
- The tag was reverted by DemonDays64 with the follwing edit commary:
- that article is from 3 years after this photo was uploaded. This is not a copyright violation.
- This reversion was contrary to Commons:Deletion policy#Speedy deletion which says:
- If anyone disagrees with the speedy deletion of a particular file, please convert to a regular deletion request (see below).
- Discussion: DemonDays64 is correct that the presence of the image in a news report that is dated after its upload here is inadequate evidence of a copyvio. However, there are other reasons to suspect a copyvio:
- It has the appearance of a professional studio photograph. This is supported by the use of a professional Nikon D700 camera, indicated in the metadata.
- The uploader's user name Csununu suggests that the account may be operated by or on behalf of Christopher Sununu, the subject of the photo. This user has also edited the Chris Sununu article in English Wikipedia. The photograph is clearly not a selfie.
- The photograph is widely disseminated online, although I have not identified an example that predates its upload here.
- See also Commons:Village pump/Copyright/Archive/2020/09#Chris Sununu photos, which discusses issues with the photos uploaded by this user. Verbcatcher (talk) 13:32, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I was the person who asked about this at COM:VPC, pretty much for the same reasons that Verbcatcher has given above. I'd imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find or obtain an acceptably licensed photo of the en:Governor of New Hampshire, either from one posted online or from someone representing the governor. I would also imagine that the governor probably has someone on staff to monitor his online presence, and it seems that en:Chris Sununu would be high on the list of things being monitored. It would be quite foolish for the staff of someone holding such a high political office to be so lackadaisical about something that might reflect badly upon their boss, but image/media copyright matters don't seem to be given a lot of thought in recent times by politicans and their staffs. Anyway, my point I guess, is that this probably can be sorted out through COM:OTRS verification. There's a bot that adds notifications to Wikipedia article talk pages when a Commons file used in the article has been nominated or otherwise tagged for deletion and such a notification has already been added to en:Talk:Chris Sununu and well as en:Talk:Governor of New Hampshire. So, maybe someone watching the article will see the notifications and be able to resolve things. Otherwise, I agree with the assessment that the file can't be kept per COM:PCP since there are reasonable doubts about its en:provenance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:12, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

According to the uploader at English Wikipedia's Template:Did you know nominations/Marina de Gabaráin, "The photograph is not of her stage debut, but has to be a publicity photo from the mid-1950s, when she was singing the title role in Carmen around the world. It is not known which production it portrays, and may well be a studio-posed production. I have tried to verify the photographer's name and copyright, with no success." - Associated discussion at de:wp. According to this discussion, the artist could be Paul Hirt who died in 1951. Hirt designed stained glass windows for this church but it remains open whether this includes the window in this photograph. It would be great if the artist could be identified with certainty as this would allow us to restore the image as soon as the work becomes public domain. --AFBorchert (talk) 18:29, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Paul Hirt is not the only possible candidate. This page of the city of Oberndorf names more artists who worked on the stained glass windows in this church. Quote: “Weitere Kirchenfenster zeigen Glasmalereien von der Beuroner Schule (1921), von A. Blepp (1933) und Paul Hirt (1935).” The name “A. Blepp” appears to refer to the artist August Blepp who died in 1949 – his works are already in the public domain according to German law. “Beuroner Schule” refers to a group of artists, see Beuroner Schule, which followed the Nazarene movement. On the same page, this window is credited to Paul Hirt. Its Expressionist style matches that of the Philipp Jeningen window, hence Paul Hirt appears to be very likely the artist we are looking for. There are older windows in the church with names of the fallen of World War I like this one. Their Nazarene style is likely to be associated with the Beuroner Schule. --AFBorchert (talk) 19:02, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Yeah there are a couple physical objects that are copyrighted, but something like a piece of paper with words can't be copyrighted. Not to mention you wouldn't even be able to copyright that piece of paper because it is way too simple. Like how the SpaceX logo can't be copyrighted. SaluteVII (talk) 21:33, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

- It's over 11 words, it is a piece of paper with words on it. Like a book, or a letter or any other copyrightable item. Ellin Beltz (talk) 22:23, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

- Pre-2008 (not 2004), it was 50 years after the death of the author, you didn't provide.
- 50 years hasn't even passed since date of publication
- By 2008, the law was superseded and now it's 70 years.
