Bitte unterlasse das in Zukunft, die erreichen allesamt keine Schöpfungshöhe.--Chianti (talk) 15:52, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, Dear Patroller!

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Oesterreicher12,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. CptViraj (talk) 03:42, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

situation with photos of Guo Quilin

[edit]

Hi!

I'm the teaching assistant for the class that AlisonLiang00 is taking, and she's working on posting photos she took of Guo Quilin into Commons so that she can include them in the article she's drafting. However, she previously posted some of these photos to social media, and some of those posted photos then got picked up by other sites, including the performer's own blog. I am working with her to get this cleaned up per policy, but I wanted you to know the situation.

Hi Khascall ,
Thank you for your message! In this case, I will of course immediately withdraw the deletion. In this case it is necessary that you send an email to the support team. I will send appropriate information to AlisonLiang00's account. --Oesterreicher12 (talk) 19:55, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help -- and thanks for your work to keep Commons clean! Khascall (talk) 20:00, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mobi shots

[edit]

Please don't tag images for speedy deletion when the user is clearly claiming to be the same person who posted it previously on social media, as with Mobi shots. Instead, use {{subst:npd}} to ask them to prove their identity. -- King of ♥ 17:07, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

File:FransVogels.jpg

[edit]

File is a crop of File:NVU anti-ISIS manifestatie Den Haag 20-09-2014.jpg which was released copyright-free on Indymedia NL (all 18 pictures are free from copyrights). Indymedia works under an open posting system, to protect sources they do not log ip and e-mail addresses (unless the poster shares these) and after nearly a decade the poster's details are impossible to retrieve. Releasing the copyright on the page should suffice. Antifaatje (talk) 20:40, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Oesterreicher12!
This file does indeed have a copyright watermark. And that is quite proper, since it is, of course, inherently copyrighted. However, the watermark right next to it indicates that the copyright holder permits its use under the Creative Commons 4.0 BY license.
I would therefore ask that the file no longer be flagged as a potential copyright violation, lest it be deleted.
Have a nice day! LegesFundamentales (talk) 16:52, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ohh.. My fault, i withdrah the deletion! Sorry! Oesterreicher12 (talk) 16:55, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
