The note at the bottom of the page ("All pictures - if not otherwise credited in the watermark - are from the archives of Maurizio Eliseo. English version edited by Anthony Cooke. - @Ra'ike: I'm not saying that they are free, but that it is possible due to their age. The copyright remark on the website looks like copyfraud to me, since they just offer very old images for reprint without stating the true copyright owner or the original source. Without saying too much, ticket:2016070710021216 relates to the left half of the image, but it doesn't relate to the right. We do not have permission to use the right half of the image. It appears to only exist as a comparison, so I'm not sure a crop of just the left half would be worthwhile. [edit]I hate to do this, but this is from the Diamond Fairy Book, part of Andrew Lang's Fairy Books. They're originally British publications, and unless it can be shown this was created for an American reprint, and not just reprinted with the rest of the volume, it's in copyright in its home country, and thus can't be uploaded to Commons (though it can be uploaded to English Wikipedia as en:Template:PD-US-1923-abroad and it my be best to move it there, to keep file usages.)
This also applies to all other files in Category:Frank C. Papé, except the Jurgen illustration, which much more likely was originally American published (The author of Jurgen is American, and I believe the British edition was long after the American, due to censorship issues - I have a copy of the first British edition). The other files affected are:

- The test for novices is pretty simple btw. If it is unlikely that two persons create the same work it has an own original character. 1 Of course the actual analysis by a judge is more complex and nuanced of course. I already wrote a detailed analysis before:
Vijf vierkante blokken met een witte stip in het midden zullen geen auteursrecht genereren. Ook niet als je er tekst onderzet. Want je, vijf dobbelstenen naast elkaar leggen geeft hetzelfde effect. Door te spelen met de happen uit de zijkant van deze "dobbelstenen" (Zowel qua omvang als qua locatie) worden er creative keuzes gemaakt en krijgt dit logo een eigen oorspronkelijk karakter en heeft dit logo het persoonlijk stempel van de maker. Als je dan bedenkt dat de originaliteitsdrempel in Nederland laag ligt is de conclusie dat het bijzonder aannemelijk is dat een rechter zal oordelen dat dit werk auteursrechtelijk beschermd is.

- I'm afraid that the section is a bit outdated and incomplete. Though I wonder why both Jcb and Trijnstel believe this logo fails the "two persons create the same work"-test. Would someone else really create the same logo without having seen their current logo? I rather doubt it. Same goes for the EOKPS/EIS-test. I cleary mentioned some creative choises which are made Fonts and typefaces can have a copyright in NL btw. 1, 2. Let's say the five boxes are a typeface. A French example is the font "Bienvenue" which is protected by copyright. 1. Than why would't the typeface used in the DOORN-logo be protected? A lot of far less creative fonts are protected. - Keep Typefaces are a difficult area for generalizations, so a French example is not really relevant. I think we all know that in the USA typefaces are explicitly not copyrighted. On the other hand, in the UK, typography has a special 25 year copyright measured from publication. Other countries fall between and while we don't have specific guidelines for the Netherlands, we're two against one with our natives with great Commons experience. That may be the best we can do. . No, DRs aren't explicit votes, but when three experienced editors split two to one on an issue, I would expect it to be closed on the two side.
We may find this useful, from Wp:Public_domain#Fonts_and_typefaces:

- I just cited two blogs written by two off the most well know IP-lawyers in NL stating that typefaces are protected by copyright law if they are original enough which means typefaces are protected for at least 70 year after creation in NL. If a typeface is creative enough you don't need a patent in order to protect it. And you seem to fortget INC deleting it in the first place and Steins vote. - My first thought was that the author was inspired by dice or dominoes (therefore a not very original idea "not an idea created by the artist"), the text itself is also not very creative it's just the name. - I read the paper and these are my takeaways:
- A work must show the imprint of creativity of the author. It cannot be purely functional. So a chemical diagram is usually not copyrightable.
- I am still not sure if the paper's author is stating that the threshold is or should be "hardly more than zero" creativity.

- Investigating the Image Library record and the main catalogue, provides no insight as to whether the publisher gave any release on donation. We have to consider this unlikely unless a record is produced.
- An alternative tack under French law, would be to consider 'La vie pour rire' a collective work as it has multiple contributors. As it was published in 1902, potential copyright would have expired in 1972 as the 70 year rule is counted from the date of publication for collective works. This 'grafsteen' (gravestone) lays on the grave of the 1st Mortlake seascouts in Den Burg on the Isle of Texel. We live ON the Isle of Texel nearby the grave. The new gravestone is designed by the Texelscouts. We have other, almost the same, pictures of the grave to convince it is own work. What more do you need as a proof? By the way, don't understand your command that there's just 1 - upload user. What do you expect? And second, how can you accuse me this way of grabbing it from Facebook, it's nonsense! FBMD...(and alsoOriginal Transmission Referencin the extended exif) are Metadata added to photos by Facebook which were shared via Facebook. See also related deletion requests and probaldy thousands of related speedy deletions.

That seems to me reversed burden of proof. I hope you can tell me where to find this picture on Facebook or anywhere. And when you can't ( and you can't of course) it would be kind to delete the nomination. By the way, the stone before this one is visible on this webaddress http://www.scoutingtexel.nl/?page_id=32 - But just a year and a half ago it was replaced by 'our' stone that tells the story of the trip of the 1st Mortlake Seascouts. 80.60.148.43 13:16, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
