Thanks for uploading File:علی دیزایی و همسرش شهامه دیزایی.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:علی دیزایی و همسرش شهامه دیزایی.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Higher res image
Hello, Remitamine. Thank you for uploading higher resolution files of some images I uploaded. I wonder how you get a higher resolution from for example File:W.J. Dewez.jpg? Be glad to hear, greeting, Eissink (talk) 15:27, 18 September 2020 (UTC).
- just remove the width(w) query parameter from the download URL to get the higher resolution image, for your example, change the URL:
- to:
- https://www.delpher.nl/nl/api/downloadimage?id=MMKB26:001042002:00052:image Remitamine (talk) 21:21, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
- Brilliant, I never thought about that. Thank you! Eissink (talk) 22:02, 20 September 2020 (UTC).
I also want to express thanks for finding higher resolution copies of all these images, but I have to ask that you please document on the description page where they were obtained. Even for free-licensed works, it's important to show their source in case a question ever arose. Thank you. — Huntster (t @ c) 12:27, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- in most cases i'm extracting the higher resolution image from the same source, if the source is different than i try to update the file information with the new source URL(ex: [2] [3] ...).Remitamine (talk) 12:36, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks! What caught my attention was File:EcoDemonstrator on tarmac.jpg on my watchlist and (briefly checking) File:Coche nagoya con aire en la linea c.jpg, where neither replacement source was at all apparent. — Huntster (t @ c) 14:07, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

You uploaded a higher resolution version of this file but you did not provide any source. Where did you get it? Ww2censor (talk) 21:45, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- from the same source(British Film Institute website). Remitamine (talk) 21:51, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- I can't find or see any higher resolution versions. What is the full url of the image you uploaded? Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 14:41, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I prefer to keep the method to extract the Full Resolution private, i did check other images uploaded from the same website and applied the method as needed(ex: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:DoctorJekyllandMis1920.jpg , https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ingrid_Bergman_with_her_father_1921.jpg , ...).

The image you superseded in November was better for this image. The fact it displayed the subject in full as opposed to a cropped version, speaks great volumes. Can you please ensure the replacement template does not either skew the subject or leave a blank palette to the image. Hope you don't think I am being pedantic, it is just that the image you replaced this with was better, but left a white rectangle to the visual right of the image. I thought about superseding it, but thought I would contact you first. Best regards, and thanks. Kieron.--Kieronoldham (talk) 06:24, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- The image that i uploaded reflects the current image accessed from the source URL[4], generally i prefer to upload the original image without any modification especially when the image is not marked with retouched template and let the original uploader decide which one to keep or modify the one i uploaded, anyway, you can use the image that i did upload as a base or even better use the Sun version[5] if it's license is suitable for Commons or keep the current version.Remitamine (talk) 15:03, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Taivo (talk) 08:23, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- After talking to you on IRC and reviewing some of your recent uploads, I'm not inclined to accept this unblock request. You need to take responsibility for your own actions, not blame your decisions on other people. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:07, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- @AntiCompositeNumber: i have no problem in taking responsibility for my errors, but not in taking responsibility for other people's errors, as an example: if someone gave me a stolen food and i ate from it not knowing that it's stolen, I'm not to be blamed for stealing the food in the first place.
- as i said when i did upload the now disputed images, i didn't upload them knowing that they are copyrighted, and as a proof that i'm trying to check the images after the getting first warning, you can look at the examples from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard/User_problems/Archive_89#User:Remitamine, and if you can search in the deleted files that i have made edits in you would find multiple examples(i'm always label them as "CopyVio" in Edit summary).
@Nat: I was improving on a lot of images until i got my first warning[6], after that i did explain to the admin that I'm uploading from the same source [7], and after some suggestions in the IRC channel, i did collect the information about all my edits for VOA News and i did run through them and reported the images that are considered to be copyvio, shortly after that there was a second complain [8][9] even thought there wasn't any copyvio reported of images uploaded after the first warning, and from there going on until now i did slow down trying to reduce my errors and in the way i was reporting copyvio images if i detect them, but even though i did made an effort in the direction suggested by the admins, it's still considered not enough, a single error after getting the warning would trigger a block.
None of the images that I've uploaded are new, they where already uploaded by other people, i merely improved on them using the same source that the original uploader stated.
I'm here for single purpose, to do what i can do the best, improving on images(Removing Watermark, adding Original EXIF metadata, improving image resolution, etc...) uploaded by others using the same source, where there are lots of images that are uploaded in a low quality, but instead I'm asked here to do the work of a license reviewer which I'm not good at.Remitamine (talk) 17:05, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

Unwanted Exif Metadata overwrites
What is "Exif Metadata" ? This does not describe the changes made. It seems files that have more than one version, you have uploaded a worse quality version, such as File:Tongtianlong-5.jpg and File:Buddha 1910.jpg.--BevinKacon (int:Talkpagelinktext) 12:37, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- the images that i did upload are in the same highest resolution presented from nature.com, so the last previous version cannot be intact non upscalled or artificially enhanced images from nature.com website.
- for your example File:Tongtianlong-5.jpg, the image that i did upload has the Exif metadata that contain the dates and the tools that has been used to create the image, and also has the correct colors.Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 13:34, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, but I prefer to keep the method to extract the Full Resolution private, i did check other images uploaded from the same website and applied the method as needed(ex: File:Gumrak_Airport_012.jpg , File:Board_of_the_Committee_of_Culture_of_the_Volgograd_Region_2016.jpg , ...).Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 00:02, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. But we have a problem which descripted here: ru:Википедия:Рецензирование/Площадь Павших Борцов. In short. Low resolution version have been downloaded from volgograd.ru, we can check it including via direct link. http://www.volgograd.ru is licensed CC-BY-4.0 International (excluding materials the copyright of which belongs to third parties). And low-res version don't have any attribution — both on the page with the photo and in the metadata of the file. But the metadata of the high-res file contains such information: author Oleg Dimitrov; copyright http://volfoto.ru. I think this clearly indicates that volgograd.ru haven't the copyright for this high resolution version.— Redboston 11:08, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- The low resolution version is derived on the server from the higher resolution version that i did upload, and it's metadata has been striped away, you can determine that by the checking the Exif comment tag that has the content "CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95." which means that the low resolution version has been generated using the GD Graphics Library, so if the higher resolution version does not fit in Wikimedia Commons then the same applies the low resolution version.Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 11:43, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not very good at technical details... Are you saying that the low-res version is generated from the high-res version automatically? If so, then we really need to delete both versions. The low-res file could have been manually uploaded to the site?— Redboston 13:45, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- yes, the low res image has been automatically generated, the website is managed by a Content Management System and there is an indication that the low quality version has been resized to fit in a 900x600 dimension.Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 14:16, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

- yes, i can, checking some of the images posted there, they have similar Exif Metadata values for the image ownership(all except the first image that show few persons, fountain and part of building), the "Creator" tag has the value "Oleg Dimitrov" and the "Copyright" tag has the value "http://volfoto.ru".Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 12:22, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

About Sogdiantextile
Hi there, about your flagging of File:Sogdiantextile.jpg. That is a 2-dimensional object's scan of a 5th-century textile, the copyright is of the 5th-century Sogdian artist. Or isn't it?--Haldir Marchwarden (int:Talkpagelinktext) 15:54, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Resizing of picture
Hello Remitamine!
I stumbled today upon this file I had previously uploaded from VOA : File:Christian Roger Okemba - 2019.jpg.
I see that you changed it to remove the watermark, which is fine by me. But I noticed that the picture itself has become far smaller that the original picture I uploaded (see original and new picture). So much that the cropping I did of this politician's face wouldn't be possible anymore (too small). Why is that?
I see that the new version you uploaded is also wider than the original. Isn't there a possibility to upload the HD version of this wider picture please? --Titlutin (int:Talkpagelinktext) 20:43, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- The Image that i did upload is in the original resolution present on VOA server, the image that you did upload has been upscaled by the VOA server.
- BTW, another higher res version of the same images is present on [11] but I'm not sure about it's license.Remitamine (int:Talkpagelinktext) 08:00, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hello! Sorry for the late answer. And thank you for those links. Indeed, I see that this politician is speaking in a "VOX" microphone, so there's a high chance this is in fact a VOX pic, not owned by VOA. Plus, the VOX article was published in 2018, when the legend in the VOA article said the pic was taken in 2019. I think I'm going to start a "deletion request". --Titlutin (int:Talkpagelinktext) 16:05, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Please note that here you've replaced old version (before 2014 restoration, as is it in the filename) with new restored version of painting. The old version is without the whale on the shore, the new one - with the whale (full story here[12]). Please don't do such things again and read the descrition: we have here a lot of files "before restoration", "with frame", "old photo" etc. All of them are important. If you wants to upload bigger version, do it as the new file, don't replace. --Shakko (int:Talkpagelinktext) 17:11, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- the error happened because the image present on source URL stated on the file description is different from the one uploaded in Commons, so i think the source URL should be updated because it's currently misleading.
