Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Ninjastrikers,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. Kadı Message 21:39, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ninjastrikers, good job for removing alot of aliases in Wikidata. I also want to inform you that I now found a way to upload copyright free pictures. Thanks for giving me a chance despite me being attacked and harassed by alots of IP users. From now on, I will try to find and start uploading legitimately copyright free pictures to the best of my knowledge. Don't hesitate to inform me if I uploaded copyright pictures, because I'm now learning to improve my skills on contributing here. I promise to not further upload copyrighted pictures, I also promise to not break the copyright violations again, instead I am looking forward to posting copyright free pictures here as now that I finally found a way on how I can upload it after a long time of learning and contributing. I have uploaded a copyright free picture for the first time without any copyright violations. Thanks! KhantWiki (talk) 11:22, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t think so. Because those images/videos come from third sources, not the video uploader’s works. They don’t have the rights for those images. Photo of Myint Swe was the one that was deleted on Commons. NinjaStrikers «» 14:10, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a copyright violations again? I thought that I finally found a way by searching only for Creative Commons license videos but it still doesn't work well. Could you give me some advice directly based on my situation rather than directly linking Commons: Licensing and Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter? If I'm being honest, it would be too long for me to read the entire page and if you give specific advice on this, it would be straightforward for me to learn better and to keep it in mind. Apologies and reflecting upon

Hi Ninjastrikers, how are you? Hope you're in good health and strength. It's me KhantWiki again. After I had been blocked for the second time roughly 1 month by Taivo considering that you reported about me to him on Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems, and a one-time block by Yamla for a week. I would also like to send apologies to you for the late reply, especially that I am busy with alot of stuff, that includes school, work, and the personal stuffs that I have to face head on. This is just the context of why I'm quite late with the delivery of this message. Upon reviewing the mistakes that I had made especially with photo uploading, thereafter I got unblocked, finally, I can sympathize with why you're on the oppressive view and perspective about my photo contributions, we both know that it is really problematic, and disruptive to upload those prohibited copyrighted disputed photo on Wikimedia Commons. I also like to send sincere apologies to you for having a disputive argument with you between my uploads and your perspective and your decision of my uploads. Between those two blocks, I have learned so many things, that I should never upload the copyrighted and even derivative works made by other people, which I really didn't learn anything from, therefore, I had lacked knowledge, experience and expertise. Fortunately, these problems of copyright is not the case with me now, after I have gained experience, knowledge, expertise and after I have looked carefully Commons:Licensing, I have given a credible promise to administrators including Taivo, and I also plead to you to not repeat the same mistakes of going in the circles of this copyright loophole. From now I have decided that I will never do those wrongdoing again, especially those subject to copyright disputed protection photos, if I did not create the file myself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, I shall never upload it to Commons. I have faithfully acknowledge that Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose, that traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything that I find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. I admit that the deletion of all my copyrighted photo uploads are deletion in accordance with policy of Commons. I shall also never upload if the author or copyright holder remained silent or is not aware to license the file under the given license, I shall also never claim them as my own work and I do not have the rights to them. I have took note that Wikimedia Commons takes copyright rules and infringement very seriously. That files may only be uploaded and included if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our licensing policy, and if their source is clearly documented. I can accept that files that fail to meet those conditions may be deleted, and users who fail to meet them may be blocked. I shall never uploads files of images taken from elsewhere, photos that I don't own and don't have the rights to, those that I don't own. I shall not upload pictures that is the work of someone and probably copyrighted. I shall not attempt to do all of those things listed above my message. I want to confess that I can't release it like I own it without proper permission statement from the copyright owner and photographer. Simply if I'm not the photographer of this photo, I do not have the rights. I have finally understood that if someone reshoots the video or photo of the work by someone, they don't directly own the work, only the master of the photograph that captures it, have all the rights to it. If I find any images that violate the Commons' Policy, I will not hesitate to nominate them for the deletion. Because that will help Wikimedia Commons to build the freely licensed media library. Once again, I'm genuinely sorry, Ninjastrikers. I apologize for all of my actions. This is all genuinely from my words and actions, not AI-generated. This is what I truly feel and what I want to say to you for so long, and I'm thankful that I have the chance to say it. I recognize and take full action that I had made many mistakes. Thank you, Ninjastrikers, I genuinely apologize for my actions of uploading copyrighted photos, that is the policies of Commons, I am following it obediently. I hope you're moving forwards to forgiving me and for my actions. KhantWiki (talk) 18:12, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
