Cher Peter,

Thanks for uploading Image:Oncle_Vania.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.

Bien cordialement, Bruno 22:27, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Five o clock.JPG

[edit]

Bonjour Van Rijn !
L'administrateur qui a supprimé l'image a donné la raison suivante : « album/DVD covers not allowed; see COM:L and COM:DW »
Si tu as d'autres questions, n'hésite pas !
Cordialement. Peter17 13:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marquess coronet

[edit]

The article Marquess on en.wikipedia has an image of a coronet which is wrong in two respects as I have pointed out on the talk page (the purple should be red and the red "jewels" should be gold). Please would you be very kind and upload a corrected image? Many thanks. - 91.104.52.239 23:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Blasons en SVG

[edit]

Bonjour Odejea !

Peter17, Thank you for advising me that I was incorrectly uploading files to Wikimedia Commons. I'm glad I got your message before I uploaded more files. I was under the assumption that any file I uploaded I had to do it to Wikimedia because I had each image licensed under the Creative Commons license. However, after reading your message that Wikimedia ONLY accepts free images. I believe these images have been deleted and added to the English Wikipedia. Thanks again and I'm sorry for the confusion.

Concorde FP

[edit]

Bonjour Peter. --S23678 (talk) 08:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

westernmagpies

[edit]

hi peter17, i am really confused about the licensing processes. i tried to read the copyright stuff, but couldn't make much sense of it. i got the photos off the club website to use on the wikipage for the club, does that mean i am not able to use them? would you be able to help me out and explain to me how i can use photos on the page as they have all been tagged for deletion now. thanks!

thanks for that information, it's a much clearer explanation! the photos that are mine i have used the license that you recommended. all of the ones for the western magpies wiki were taken from the club website, which i assumed would have made it ok. i'm guessing from your explanation that that's not the case? any idea how to get photos that are able to be used for that wiki?

thanks again. i don't personally know who runs the website though, so it looks like i cannot use those images for the magpies website. it's a shame because im sure they wouldn't mind, but oh well!

The explanation for speedy deletion you gave here is insuficient. Do you know for sure it's a french cartoon character? If it is, you should point which character is that, other users may have less insight on the topic. Or do you asume it may be a french cartoon, just because the text is in french? Belgrano (talk) 02:58, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ready, I deleted the image. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I wanted to be sure before deleting. Next time try to provide more information, even if it means "stating the obvious", which may not be so obvious for users with other knowledges; the most clear the explanation is, the quickest the image will be deleted Belgrano (talk) 03:10, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking pages

[edit]

Hallo, can I remind you that for quick deletion of categories, the procedure consist of inserting {{Badname|Good name}} if another category names exist. Alternatively, {{Speedy|reason}} can be used. Blanking the page makes that the category appears several days later in Special:UncategorizedCategories which we try to keep as empty as possible, but requires significant work as we have to analyse each case if it concerns vandalisme, mistakes, beginners work (that may need assistance) or just a plain categorisation problem. So following the standard procedure saves us all unnecessary work and as a courtesy to the creators, the edit summary tells where the category has been moved to. Thank you and keep up the good work. --Foroa (talk) 08:21, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

blasons de france

[edit]

those images I replaced had all been superseded. Why shouldn't I replace them with the file that superseded them?

Hi Sportsfan92,
No, those images are not superseded. They perfectly comply with the rules of fr:Projet:Blasons (several people implied). User:Heralder (one guy) marked them superseded to incite people use his images but has no legitimacy to do so.
Contributors from Wikipedias should use the image they like. Contributors from French WP should use the images from fr:Projet:Blasons. The page Blasons de France is mainly maintained by people implied in fr:Projet:Blasons, so it should use the images from fr:Projet:Blasons to avoid useless reverts.

Brussels region's arms

Hi Ssolbergj,
I made the coat of arms for that page: [3]. I assumed that the information on the page was correct, but I have no other element to assess that the coat of arms actually exists.
The description was already present in the first version of the page: [4], so, I don't know where it comes from.

Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2012, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world!

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 350,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from 36 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2012.

Copyvio/File «Sylvain et Sylvette »

[edit]

Hello Peter17. I am sincerely sorry about copyvio created by this file. I owe you an apology. I have not been paying enough attention. Please accept my regrets. Sincerely yours, --Agota Oui ? Plaît-il ? / Déversoir 10:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oups !
Cordialement, --Agota Oui ? Plaît-il ? / Déversoir 17:10, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Là, tu me poses une colle !

Damouns 11:36, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Suppression d'images ?

[edit]

--Lev. Anthony (talk) 14:48, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please tell Lev. Anthony that he can send the email, and our representative will look at it. It depends on the nature of the email; I can't say yes or no. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 17:36, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bonjour Anthony,

Bonjour,
Le titre « Demonstration against same-sex marriage in ... Peter17 (talk) 18:48, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Video contest

[edit]

Hi Peter17! I'm one of the organizers of the video contest Videos für Wikipedia-Artikel in the German Wikipedia which aims at including more videos into Wikipedia articles. The topic of our contest is "Digital Society". I discovered that your video of a rotating hard disc is included in the German article about hard discs. Therefor I want to invite you to participate with this video in the contest. The procedure is very easy: You would just have to add the template {{Video für Wikipedia-Artikel 2014}}. Obviously, if you have other video material consistent with the topic "Digital Society", you are wellcome to participate with it as well. --ALi (VWA) (talk) 09:17, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS pending - Christophe Dickès

[edit]

Hello Peter17,

--Scoopfinder(d) 12:27, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour Scoopfinder,

Bien cordialement. Peter17 (talk) 10:42, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Bonne continuation.

Thanks for uploading File:Christophe Dickès - 1.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Code rangement alphabétique des catégories

[edit]

As tu une autre solution ? Marianne Casamance (talk) 16:07, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Si vous souhaitiez restaurer d'autres pages, j'avais également créé :

Important message for file movers

[edit]

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

According to the coordinates in Wikidata, this monastery is in Elna, but according to the Catalan Wikipedia article https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monestir_de_Vallespir this monastery doesn't exist now, it was an old monastery in the region of Vallespir, and Elna is not in the Vallespir region. I thing that all is a confusion and that this category should be removed, also the coordinates in wikidata.--Jordi G (talk) 22:43, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think that what we can see in this photo is Sant Jordi de l'Hospital, because it's a chapel just next to an old hospital.--Jordi G (talk) 22:57, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jordi G! Thanks for your message. The reason is that the image was added on item Monestir de Vallespir (Q11937338) (see [9]). I will remove it. Thanks again! Best regards Peter17 (talk) 08:05, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Chapelle du Villardon

[edit]

Bonsoir,

Peter17 (talk) 22:57, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On y arrivera !

Cordialement, Abdoucondorcet (talk) 23:12, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour Abdoucondorcet,
Cordialement. Peter17 (talk) 05:53, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

[edit]
2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
