Fichiers supprimés
[edit]Bonjour,
categories
[edit]Hi. I just happened to notice your category changes to [1]. I hadn't noticed upon my most recent edit to that file that someone was "undoing" my previous change; I was simply reviewing what appeared under the main Rodin category. Here's the deal: are you familiar with the concept of "most specific category"? Rodin's Balzac sculpture has its own category, and that category in turn is a member of "sculptural representations of Balzac". One generally places the file in the most specific category. Certainly there are exceptions to that, but I don't see why one would need an exception here. I would expect an image like this to belong to "Category:Sculpture X by Sculptor Y" (when that exists), and a category for where the sculpture resided, when there are many copies as there are here. That is how I left the file. We could add this image to every intermediate category all the way up to "Sculptures" and "writers", but why? In turn, why isn't every image of the Balzac piece by Rodin in "Auguste Rodin" and "Représentations sculptées de Balzac", etc. Just a few? On what basis? Those are rhetorical questions, mostly: the matter is hardly important enough to warrant composing a paragraph. :-) Regards! Boo-Boo Baroo (talk) 16:05, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. To answer your question, one "simply" makes a new category with the preferred name and moves all the content to it. What would you like to call the new category? I would suggest simply "Category:Sculptures of Honoré de Balzac". I am not aware of a requirement that a category name be in English? It might be easier to leave it alone...
