Because it is Press photo Shanker2battu (talk) 08:33, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- It is not. My pictures have appeared in the press often, but I have the original. Check at https://pbase.com/dosseman/mudurnu where you can see I have had lots of Mudurnu pictures since 2009. Also, I do not like anonymous deletion requests who have no more "prove" than "it is Press photo". What press, where? Did "the Press" show copyright information? And how would "the Press" publish a 33 Mb picture? Learn to think before you accuse. Dosseman (talk) 09:11, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Kept: Nonsense request by another Android app user who could not resist. --Achim55 (talk) 19:02, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Every other upload from this user has been a copyvio, a mix of line drawings and photos found online to illustrate martial arts articles. Their final remaining images are a black and white photo and a video still. I can't find a source for either, but they are very likely to also be copyvios. Neither makes any attempt to identify the location or person, both are low resolution with no exif, both have borders suggesting a screenshot, and the colour video still appears to be taking place in the US, yet was uploaded to the Korean Wikipedia.

- Sorry, why has the picture been requested for deletion and how can you see in my sandbox? Thomasthesecond (talk) 16:59, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Thomasthesecond: All Sandboxes are public (just not "published" in the lexicon) and your upload went to Commons anyway, where we host non-copyrighted material to be potentially used on any Wiki-page in any language. My suggestion is to make a similar screenshot from OpenStreetMaps (osm.org), it's free to use and pretty complete for London! Maps from GoogleMaps are owned by Google though, so we can't have them on Commons. Sorry. On another note, I really appreciated your "little italy's all over the world" map! The information on this map is probably completely wrong. It claims to be sourced from a specific Wikipedia page, but the map bears no resemblance to the information on that page. The map should either be changed, or the description, legend and summary should be changed, or the file should be deleted. It is currently displayed on dozens of pages in many languages, so it is potentially misleading many readers. Ornilnas (talk) 04:52, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Keep: in use. Update as needed (I don't think Russia has had free universal health care in a long time, for instance, but deletion is not a solution). -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:59, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- I believe almost none of the countries marked as having "free universal health care" actually have that. I would update myself, but I've never edited an .svg on Commons before. It would also be a huge job to actually source the information from the Wikipedia article as the summary claims has been done. If it was a question of making a few individual updates, I agree deletion would be unnecessary. But to my eyes, the entire map looks arbitrary, and multiple complaints on the Discussion page have led nowhere. I'm not sure what's common to do with images in these circumstances. Ornilnas (talk) 11:53, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know, and I understand the problem. Maybe discussing the file at some presumably high-visibility page where it's in use such as w:Talk:Health insurance might help. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:33, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Keep and update. What the description needs too is a definition of "free" healthcare. I don't know of any totally free healthcare whatsoever because even in countries where you don't have to pay at the doctor's office or in the hospital, health care is still financed by taxes or fees which are collected from the citizens. - Yes, that's a better-quality image, but why is it bad to have two photos of someone? I'd tend to oppose deletion. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:24, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not so happy about the image after the new and better one is available. This one is just a lousy screenshot from a YouTube video (CC-BY, so no worries), it's embarrassingly bad in contrast. Maybe I should have thought twice before uploading it. But at that time I thought this YouTube video is the only free source available. TheRandomIP (talk) 17:52, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- I understand. Is the YouTube video linked in the de.Wikipedia article about her? If so, it would be less of an issue to delete this screencap. I'd be content to leave the decision to an admin, though. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:25, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

There is no freedom of panorama in Russia for sculptures and the photo violates sculptor's copyright. This is 1959 sculpture, so the copyright cannot be expired. Taivo (talk) 07:30, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- In the USSR, a monument to Lenin stood in almost every locality of the country. Such a large number of sculptures were made by mass production, so copyrights are not violated. After the collapse of the USSR, a significant part of them was destroyed. Now there are 6 monuments to Lenin left in the Tula region. Котельников (talk) 07:52, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Mass produced objects can be copyrighted as well. We have deleted a lot of sculptures of Lenin from Commons. If we know the sculptor and his/her death year, then we can add restore date (70 or 74 years from sculptor's death). Taivo (talk) 09:19, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- It's just that most of these sculptures were given away for scrap. And to find out the name of the sculptor is a rather difficult task, it is necessary to conduct research in the archives, it takes a lot of personal time. There is another problem Lenin monuments often do not fall into the lists of objects of cultural and historical heritage, which makes it possible to easily dismantle them. The project "Wiki loves monuments" draws attention to the heritage, thereby giving a chance to some monuments not to disappear at all. Котельников (talk) 10:04, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

This image is from Flickr and appears to be copyrighted on that site. Although the uploader claims that the photographer gave their permission for the image to be used on Wikipedia. That doesn't cover other uses that are required for something to be hosted on Commons though. Plus there's no actual evidence that the photographer gave their permission to use the image anyway. Just a copy of the letter the uploader sent them. So this should be deleted per the precautionary principle. Same goes for the following images.

File name is misleading, it is not the listed building, File:The Ship Inn, High Street, Emsworth (May 2019).JPG is an arguably better image and this does not add to it. This image also has a person in shot which while not an absolute issue is not best practice desirable. On totality with all these issues in retrospect loading this was a mistake and it is out of scope and is better removed. User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 06:30, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

- Hi @Thomasthesecond: if you need this picture for something, you can still replace the date, source and author by the real one (the description currently says that you yourself took the picture in September 2022, when in reality it was someone else long ago). The picture could be kept, if you name the correct source (a book?) and the author/photographer (hope they are named in the book) and you can use the publication date of the book. If that date was more than 100 years ago, the picture is possibly qualifying for "Public Domain, old" ("PD-old"). Best luck, Enyavar (talk) 18:13, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

Presuming this is a U.S. work - it's hard to tell - or is from a country where the URAA would matter, how is this out of copyright? It's a derivative work from 1929, which is two years after the current date where things automatically leave copyright in the U.S.
Also, we don't have a death year for Miller, so how do we know it's out of copyright anywhere? Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:09, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Konrad Miller died in 1933 as in https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q108512 Lmichelsen (talk) 17:24, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- This isn't a U.S. work. Konrad Miller was German and lived in Germany according to the translation of his Wiki page. The fine print here in lower left says "Stuttgart 1928". He died in 1933. URAA may apply, I don't know. Bammesk (talk) 01:52, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Originality: The nominated file: [4] is a rotated version of this file: [5]. As Adam Cuerden says in This thread, the nominated file (Miller's map) is derived from This public domain Idrisi map. Miller recreated the Idrisi map and transcribed the Arabic text in Latin alphabet. Is there enough originality in Miller's work to grant it copyright? Bammesk (talk) 00:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

- Comment Some context from the undeletion request. The uploader scanned this from a DoD aperture card, which gives it a reasonable PD presumption. At the least, that makes it a good-faith upload. But the name "Aviagraphica", present on the image, appears to be a pen name of Michael Badrocke, who is a published illustrator of this kind of thing (and quite a prolific one, it seems). I am actually trying to request all the photos I have uploaded to be deleted except the one of Kyusaku Yumeno (by the way, as this photo is available on the Internet, I uploaded it but I am not so familiar with the copyright issues so please submit another deletion request for it if needed). Some of the requests have specific reasons such as containing metadata I don’t want to publicize and others don’t. Sorry for my poor English. —- Keiri (talk) 01:46, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- Comment If you're uploading photos you downloaded from other sites, those are not your own work and (1) have to be credited to the photographer who took them and (2) if they are not public domain or don't have the right Creative Commons license, they have to be deleted as copyright violation. However, if the other photos are your own work, they might or might not be deleted as a courtesy to you, but usually, I don't think an admin would delete potentially useful photos like these that aren't photos of private people but of a hospital and so on. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:13, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
