- CBarlow is my name on Wikipedia, and I have been using it here in the commons[edit]

- Only recently have I begun uploading my own IMAGES when working on a wikipedia page.
- I was unaware that my User name in Wikipedia did not carry over into Wikimedia.
- I was just informed that some of the many pictures I uploaded over the past month for my work on the Wikipedia pages Torreya taxifolia (and possibly Torreya californica too) have been questioned because my CBarlow user name was never made official on the commons.
- So now I am doing that.

- I am also on Researchgate.
- I am the channel owner of the YOUTUBE channel ghostsofevevolution, and I recently uploaded some of the thumbnails and screen captures from those videos. I believe this CC license is unintended by the copyright holder. We have had two similar cases like this in the past, the Ubisoft and Bandai cases, where each of these big video game publishers had mistakenly stated a license in either email, or started a Youtube channel where every video they uploaded was marked as CC. In the case of Ubsioft, confirmation was eventually acquired that Ubisoft did NOT license the content under CC and it was a mistake by the person who emailed. In the Bandai case, it was noted that the videos contained copyrighted material that Bandai was not the owner of, making it very unlikely that dozens of developers and rights holders had given permission for the releases. Now we have Microsoft, who's Age of Empires sub-channel is marking every video as CC. It's extremely unlikely this is intended, especially as these videos are embedded in the game's official site where no CC license is given and copyright and trademark notices are plastered all over. The entire category Category:Videos by Age of Empires needs reviewed and deleted. I'm not sure how to properly make this request for the entire category so started with the first file. CC-BY-NC-ND is a valid licence under which an image can be published. How else would copyrightable material be marked so that it would fall under unless noted? I'm interested in what special education Huntster had (if they every visited any) so that they can classify an action by an official US government source as "general incompetence". The question is why these images are not marked as Public Domain. We (more than likely all of us have no education in law) think we know better what the appropriate copyright status for these images is rather than the person who is in charge at NASA. We don't ask. We just assume that the images have to be licenced under PD NASA. Maybe there is a reason why this CC licence is used. After all the user and the upload platform has to proof that the image can be used under PD or any free licence. I'm not against keeping those image, but I oppose a copyright view that is based on vague claims with no clear basis. If NASA claims the images to be copyrighted and licences them under a non-commercial licence it's not a clear basis for me. There has to be a reason for this claim. There may is no reason other than "general incompetence" after all, but to assume that about a person we don't know and who's actions we don't understand is a quite high-handed move of us. Common's isn't a personal file host or place to promote some schools student center. So the images should be deleted as copyvio and/or OOS unless someone can provide evidence that their not copyrighted and are educational.
