File:Flag of the Regional Municipality of York.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Hello,
[edit]Please do not believe every "flag" you see as an actual flag.
For example, the flag you uploaded for Pinellas County's source is a stock image. Stock images are generally not a good source for flags. For example, take this supposed flag of Beijing [1]. Municipal flags in China have been pretty much banned since the 1990s (only exceptions are Macau and Hong Kong, which are not integral parts of China.) And it is the flag of the Empire of China, and never was the flag of Beijing.
And as for the supposed Lee County flag: It is likely just an image for the background, judging on its appearance, and not intended to be a flag.
If you see what looks like a flag but aren't too sure, please research more into it. Find any actual photos of the flag or captions which say it is a flag.
I am only letting you know so you don't contribute to filling Commons with fictional flags, which have plagued the project for a very long time.
Another thing: {{PD-FLGov}} applies to the county flags of Florida. Just letting you know, as quite a few flags cant qualify for copyright. And with a simplistic flag, you can add either {{PD-shape}} or {{PD-ineligible}}
And thank you for your contributions to Commons. It is appreciated. Here are some cookies for you:

- i mean, i've seen the lee county thing be used as a flag in some flag maps + some countryball maps, so they must've either mistaken that background thingy as a flag or that is their legitimate flag that's just stylized, i have no clue sadly :(
- also, yay, cookies :) IndysNotHere (talk) 03:39, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Coat of Arms of Zimbabwe
[edit]-
SVG File that needs work
-
Coat of arms as seen on Zimbabwe House, London
-
Version seen in the Constitution of Zimbabwe
- Hello! I've stumbled across your coat of arms of Salisbury and thought they were stunning. In contrast, the Coat of Arms of Zimbabwe are not well drawn. The Zimbabwe Bird in particular does not look good and there is something just awkward about the whole composition. I admit that whoever made it is infinitely more skilful than I am, but it is worth comparing the coat of arms of the nation above, with those of Bulawayo or your own of Salisbury. So I was wondering whether you might be able to have a go at drawing something more suitable? I've uploaded a photo of the coat of arms of Zimbabwe that are visible above the entrance to the Zimbabwean Embassy in London. There is also the official version on page 135 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, so you can see how it looks on official Government documentation. Do you think you might please be able to do something with this to improve the way it looks as an SVG on Wikipedia? It would be wonderful to improve the quality of this image. Thank you! -- Mangwanani (talk) 15:25, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Greetings!
I've just noticed the arms of Melbourne, and I'd like to say you have done a wonderful job improving them from their previous state.
There are just a few issues I'd like to point out. Firstly, the shield's first quarter is empty: the fleece is missing. Secondly, the kangaroo in the crest is facing the wrong way, or at least its body is: the blazon in the letters patent states "Out of a Mural Crown Or a demi Kangaroo to the sinister regardant proper". Thirdly, the "chain reflexed around the back" of each supporter does not vanish between its forepaws (in order to reappear in the back) as it's supposed to, but instead a couple of links are left visible by the forepaw closer to the viewer, which makes the chain seem to end there.
I hope I have been of assistance here. If you could spare the time to rectify these errors, the arms could then be entirely correct, and their fine design could be appreciated without asterisks. Thank you for your time. Waltham, The Duke of 05:51, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- yeahhh the fleece just disappeared when i submitted it to commons for some reason, as for everything else, i just made it the way i did as that's what i could do with the skill level i have haha IndysNotHere (talk) 19:31, 2 October 2023 (UTC)

Spokane County, Washington flag
[edit]Hello, @IndysNotHere! First of all, you do great work! Could you provide a source for your flag of Spokane County, Washington state? A few of us have been looking into whether or not this is the current flag of the county, but we can only find some old newspaper articles. Any information would be greatly appreciated! JTRamsey (talk) 18:41, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- FOTW states the source of the flag; it's also flown inside the dome of the Washington State Capitol building. IndysNotHere (talk) 19:02, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Just read the description of the flags file; since it was decommissioned in 2002, I will submit a request to rename/move the file. - However, like I said, although it's decommissioned; it still hangs in the Washington State Capitol. IndysNotHere (talk) 19:07, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. Sorry I did find your source after I posted this. Do you have a source for it still being flown in he Washington State Capitol? I can't see it on the virtual tour. Thanks again for your help and quick reply! JTRamsey (talk) 19:15, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

File tagging File:Flag of Tacoma, Washington (1972-1991).svg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Tacoma, Washington (1972-1991).svg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Flag of Tacoma, Washington (1972-1991).svg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Region of Peel Flag
[edit]Good day, just enquiring in regards to the Region of Peel flag that is on your page and also the Region of Peel Wiki page. It looks really nice however it appears to be a tad bit inaccurate. Just curious about how you arrived at the colours that were used and the lack of a black border around the maple leafs? Other wise, it is a beautiful image and your page is incredibly well done. I just felt I would reach out just to hopefully mitigate any possible confusion in the community. I have an example from a site here [2]https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ca-on-pl.html which is a lot closer to what is flown at Regional buildings including a photo of an actual flag flying and also provides some interesting historical insights. Thank you for your time if you happen to read this and again your page and content is fantastic. Have a great day. Thecat029 (talk) 20:31, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
