Deleted prompt uploader request. -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 23:41, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
This file was initially tagged by NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh as Speedy (speedydelete) and the most recent rationale was: Advertising material: Spam.
I personally don't think it is a spam. rubin16 (talk) 14:27, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- @rubin16: Sorry about that. I did some batch task and was too lazy to rewrite the rationale. However, considering that the file name means "Full house moving service" and that it is out of scope, it should be deleted, either speedily or not. Unnamed UserName me 15:12, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Not own work. Account has endless previous uploads deleted for the same reason. Some logos in this list could stay because they don't exceed COM:TOO, but I'd still suggest deleting them because they lack sourcing and can thus be fake.

- Thanks Yann. Some of them are also combinations of logos from the enterprise itself with logos from other entities (File:French-fab-exxelia.png, File:Exxelia-gifas.png...) : I thinkit would require permission for both entities.
- And other images have been uploaded since, like File:GBU.png (other one has been speedy deleted), despite previously warning the user on frWP that it wasn't allowed. --NicoV (talk) 15:24, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Yann I'm contesting the deletion of the image of mine from these because it was clicked by KaunainAjaz. It hasn't been copied from social media. I'm not sure about other images. Regards, ─ The Aafī (talk) 13:28, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- @TheAafi: You should upload over this one the original image with full EXIF data. Thanks, Yann (talk) 18:04, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yann, Your suggestion is nice but I do not have access to the image with complete EXIF details. I just remember us all being in the Old library of Jamia, when Kaunain captured this image. So this is definitely not an image that he has copied from social media, and it is not either out of scope. I personally use it at several places. In case, I happen to meet him, I'm definitely going to tell him to upload images with full EXIF details only. Thanks. ─ The Aafī (talk) 19:37, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Comment The source at the file page leads back to “Old Ocean Liners” on Facebook. Maybe someone with an account there could message them to see if they can provide more info about the provenance. About the only thing I can think of that could make it keepable (aside from a free licence from someone authorized) would be evidence of publication in the US without the formalities.—Odysseus1479 (talk) 03:47, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

This file was initially tagged by Ahunt as Copyvio (Copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: Not the uploader's own work as claimed, but a photograph of a copyright publication authored by TWA and as such cannot be released under a free licence Yann (talk) 12:52, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- The cover is probably {{PD-ineligible}}. Yann (talk) 12:53, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- It would not be covered by {{PD-ineligible}} because it does not "consist only of information that is itself in the public domain" or "lack evidence of original authorship/ creative input of any kind." The wording is unique and obviously copyright. It could be uploaded to en.wikipedia as "fair use" to illustrate a specific article, but not on Commons which does not accept "fair use" rationales.- Ahunt (talk) 13:03, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- The wording is only the title of the book, the date, and the edition number. That's not sufficient to create a copyright. The logo is probably de minimis. Regards, Yann (talk) 13:46, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- I uploaded this because I thought the artwork was de minimis and the rest was standard obvious text for a pamphlet that wouldn't rise to the level of copyright. Jonathan Schilling (talk) 22:24, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- Then why did you upload it declared as your "own work" when it clearly is not? Obviously it is TWA's work. - Ahunt (talk) 01:43, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- There are to different things here which may or may not have a copyright: the picture and the book cover. I added a tag for the book cover. Regards, Yann (talk) 09:39, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- This is kind of degenerating - now the file has two different incongruent licences. Clearly the book cover is the subject of the photograph, it is not de minimus.- Ahunt (talk) 11:41, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- The book cover is not de minimis, but the licenses are OK. The book cover is of simple design, so there is no copyright. The picture has a copyright by the photographer. Yann (talk) 12:56, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Unnecessary crop of File:Sketch map of North Mesopotamia to illustrate the paper by Mark Sykes, the central portions compiled by the author – The Geographical Journal, Vol. 30, No. 3, September 1907, pp. 237-254.png, misleadingly named, no possibility of educational use. GPinkerton (talk) 13:34, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- The user making this nomination is permanently blocked on En WP, and is hounding me on several WP projects and should be blocked here too. What's wrong with a file zooming in to show location of Kurdish tribes instead of a giant map of Western Asia? Thanks, Amr ibnu Kulthoum عمرو بن كلثوم (talk) 14:42, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- The user (banned on English Wikipedia for long-term racist abuse of exactly this kind) is making these spurious uploads to push their unique POV about the purity of the Arab race. See Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Kurds_and_Kurdistan#عمرو_بن_كلثوم which states, by unanimous decision of the Arbitration Committee " عمرو بن كلثوم has edited tendentiously in the Kurds and Kurdistan topic area, by seeking to erase Kurdish names and mentions of Kurdistan, and by pushing anti-Kurd POV. On three occasions, twice in 2015 and once in 2020, عمرو بن كلثوم has been blocked for conduct in the topic area, which included edit-warring. See Commons:Deletion requests/File:Western Kurdistan by Mark Sykes.jpg where an identical POV crop of the same map was uploaded by this user, again with the intention of claiming that there are no Kurds in Syria (by cropping them out) and claiming Kurdistan is (contra to all reliable sources) not in Syria and claiming "Western Kurdistan" (i.e. Syrian Kurdistan) is in Turkey and not (as all reputable authorities state) in Syria. To do this, the user uploads cropped parts of antique maps and mislabels them, as here, and in the previous crop rightly deledt by P199. In that instance, as here, عمرو بن كلثوم excuse for uploading such useless images is to blame accuse others. GPinkerton (talk) 15:41, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- The user is even spamming the upload into random language Wikipedias, such as Bulgarian Wikipedia: [2] together with a wholly misleading caption. (Equal to the nonsensical file description, but machine-translated into an approximation of Bulgarian!) GPinkerton (talk) 15:56, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

- You are indefinitely banned for precisely this abusive and racist denialism, an fact unanimously recognized by the Arbitration Committee. There is no need for you to deny this, no-one is likely to trust to anyway. GPinkerton (talk) 11:25, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

- Note to closing admin: Please note that user GPinkerton is indeffed/blocked in 3 other projects. Thanks, Amr ibnu Kulthoum عمرو بن كلثوم (talk) 21:53, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Further note to closing admin: the original uploader does not have policy-based objections to deletion. GPinkerton (talk) 22:28, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- As usual the nominator does not consider "COM:INUSE" to be an official policy, and whether or not a user is blocked has no bearing on the quality of an upload. Just because because user "عمرو بن كلثوم" is blocked somewhere doesn't mean that they can't be a valuable contributor somewhere else, this "blockphobia" paranoia should not be seen as an extra reason to remove content here, we have templates for bad maps and people at other projects can remove them then, the Wikimedia Commons should not be "the content police" for other Wikimedia websites and this hatred against users who are blocked on other websites by the nominator should be indicative of their combative attitude. This is not a comment on this educational value of the map, simply that we shouldn't be deleting files in use on other Wikimedia websites if there are no copyright © issues. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 06:20, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

This map is filled with numerous inaccuracies, and is being used by certain users to benefit their POV. Firstly, the map bases the borders of the Sultanate on British-era boundaries of Bengal Province despite the Wikipedia article stating that the Sultanate ruled over other areas too. Secondly, the naming of these mint towns are completely made-up. One example is Sylhet in the northeast being referred to as Jalalabad. 20th-century historian Ahmad Hasan Dani has written greatly on Bengal Sultanate inscriptions and mentions Sylhet being referred to as Srihat - not Jalalabad. There are many many more inaccuracies, but I hope the above reasons are enough for this image to be deleted off Wikimedia. SalamAlayka (talk) 17:00, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

This file should be deleted because this map showns false boundaries, namely, the border of the Teutonic Order is shown in this map as pretty much identical to the East Prussian region (which it wasn't) and also forgets the Livonian Order. Finally, the map has a historically inaccurate label, namely "Russo-Lithuanian State". No serious scholars refer to the Lithuanian state in such a manner. While Pierre Bregy was born in 1898 (source of his birth year), so he is even younger. It is not supported by any source that 70 years had already passed since Pierre Bregy's death. Uploader of this file clearly picked a random license template without providing any evidence that it is valid for this file. Anyway, I think it is safe to assume that both Serge Obolensky and Pierre Bregy have equal copyrights to this file/book. Since one of the authors (Serge Obolensky) of this file/book died only 43 years ago, the {{PD-old}} license tag will be valid for this file only after 27 years (so in 2048). -- Pofka (talk) 18:25, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

If the author is known, we need to know when he died. Yann (talk) 18:10, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Yann Considering the co-author who was born eight years before Pierre Brégy still lived to 1978, it is safe to assume that he lived to a similar time. I have found a person named Pierre, who was born in Brégy exactly in 1898 and who died in 1979, and considering that his birth place was just below 600 people, it is a pretty certain guess, that this is indeed the person concerned. So, 70 years have definitely NOT passed since the death date of whichever author.--Cukrakalnis (talk) 19:12, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- That's a different person. Brégy here is the name of a town, not a family name. BTW where did you find the authors' birthdate? Yann (talk) 19:15, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Yann I found the birthdate of Pierre Brégy here and Serge Obolensky here. The problem with Pierre Brégy is that him being an obscure author means that not a lot is known about him. My rationale for picking this as a possible person, is because there is a possibility that Pierre Brégy was an alias (1st name and birthdate is the same, but the 2nd name he changed into his birthplace village). Unfortunately, this is speculation, but it is the best available suggestion there is on the material available online.--Cukrakalnis (talk) 19:26, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

- Wow, what a find! I have no clue how you even came about that. My speculation is definitely brushed aside considering the findings you presented, although I was right about this being an alias. It definitely mentions all of the books that are ascribed to this person, so it is without a doubt him. But even then, considering there were two authors of the book, and one of them died in the late 1970s or 1990s, doesn't this still raise issues?--Cukrakalnis (talk) 22:29, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- In a book about history, you cannot assume that the author of the book is the author of the maps ; even less that the authors of the books are both the authors of the maps...
- the author of the map could be (and probably is) a third person, about whom we have no information at all, except, perhaps, the cyrillic initials that can be read in the bottom right "ΔΛ" (DL)... 4 of the 5 maps in this book have this same signature...
- however, I agree that it cannot reasoneably be assumed that a page of a book published in 1939 is in the Public Domain according to the 70 years post death rule, unless it is provable that the author died during war, or shortly after... --Hsarrazin (talk) 07:07, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- Keep The initials can also be read as cyrillic "АЛ" (AL), but they do not fit the two known authors of the book anyway. Consequently, the maps signed with these initials can be considered as works of an unknown author, passed into the public domain 70 years after publication.--Yellow Horror (talk) 08:36, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

An image does not magically become useful by virtue of the argument that it could be used to illustrate a Wikipedia article on X, merely because X happens to be the subject of the photograph. For example, the fact that an unused blurred photograph could theoretically be used to illustrate an article on "Common mistakes in photography" does not mean that we should keep all blurred photographs. The fact that an unused snapshot of your friend could theoretically be used to illustrate an article on "Photographic portraiture" does not mean that we should keep all photographs of unknown people. The fact that an unused pornographic image could theoretically be used to illustrate an article on pornography does not mean that we should keep low quality pornographic images. Quite part from all of that, the idea that all fantasy flags uploaded to Commons should be kept simply because the whole genre of fantasy flags exists is quite absurd, as is the suggestion that such doodles might "affect the overall UK flag", thereby somehow becoming educational because ... they've been seen in someone's crystal ball (cf. "yet", "a somewhat influential trend"). The claim that this policy-mandated deletion is "purging ... because it's not an official national flag" is quite backwards; there is no need for flags to be "official", there is a need for images on Commons to have a purpose. Lastly, claims that this specific image "represents ideas that people have been kicking around for decades" should be equipped with evidence, or without such evidence, should be withdrawn, or better yet not made at all. - You certainly vented forth a vehement virulent vicious tirade. I hope your blood pressure is lower and you're feeling better now, but most of it has little to do with whether this specific image should be deleted.
- First, the claim that an image should be deleted if it won't be used in a Wikipedia article is false. Commons has hundreds of thousands of images which will never be used in any language-specific wikiproject. Second the policies on Wikimedia Commons are a little different from Wikipedia policies. To start with, wikipedia simply doesn't have any "no original research" policy. Also, while Commons is somewhat strict about photographer or image-author sources, most images on Commons do not require Wikipedia-style citations to justify their existence. If I upload to Commons a photo I've taken, and title it "Foal outside Nashville 2019.jpg" then there's no citation needed or available to prove that this is actually a 2019 photo of a foal outside Nashville. I may be a trustworthy or untrustworthy image uploader, but "citations" are pretty much irrelevant.
- This image (File:Nordic flag of the United Kingdom (Proposal).svg) is an example of a significant UK flag design trend of the 21st century, which obviously hasn't affected the official national flag, but has most definitely affected a number of local flags. In that respect, it's not a "fantasy" image -- it's a simple extrapolation to show how a real (non-"fantasy") trend affecting various local flags could be carried over to the national flag. I don't really see what the purpose of zealously trying to delete this image is -- and I also don't see how cutting and pasting a lot of generic boilerplate stuff not so directly relevant to this particular image helps very much. AnonMoos (talk) 21:53, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- There is no need to do anything more than quote the policy that makes this fantasy image useless. There is nothing special about this flag as against the thousands of others that have been deleted, or the hundreds more that will be deleted. Nothing distinguishes this image from them. If an image cannot be used on any WMF and has no other reason for being hosted here, then it should be deleted. What you call a "vehement virulent vicious tirade" is nothing more than quoting policy. I understand that you would prefer your upload not to be deleted, but that is your preference, not our policy. You've used the "animal outside city" metaphor before, and, as before, it is inapposite. No-one is alluding to Wikipedia policies beside yourself. I have quoted Commons (NB, for the umpteenth time, not Wikipedia) policy which proves such useless images are to be deleted as they are outside COM:SCOPE (which I encourage you to actually read). Why you imagine that "Commons has hundreds of thousands of images which will never be used in any language-specific wikiproject" is relevant is quite beyond me. These will be images that have possible uses or reflect an external reality in some way. Beside a purported "trend" unnoticed by any except yourself, this image has no attachment to anything in this universe. GPinkerton (talk) 01:49, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Whatever, dude -- the trend is noted on the English Wikipedia "Nordic cross flag" article (from which I excerpted the above gallery), and with a little Google keyword tinkering it's not hard to find links like: Scots communities go Nordic in rising demands for their own flags | HeraldScotland.
- Wikimedia Commons policies are certainly relevant, but most of the time they should be applied with a little bit of common sense, and keeping in mind the context of the particular image under consideration -- and not with rigid narrow intolerant fanatical literalistic textualism. However, I apologize for calling your previous comment "vicious". "Vitriolic" was the word I wanted, but I couldn't quite bring it to mind in time...
- P.S. This design is not really a personal creation by me. I slightly improved a previously-existing PNG using the SVG format, and the general idea has been kicking around for a while (before I was involved in any way). AnonMoos (talk) 05:18, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Just because "the general idea has been kicking around for a while" on Commons does not mean it deserves to stay forever on Commons. There still isn't the least indication such an image has an independent or pre-existing existence, and again, claiming something should be kept because there are lots of examples of one or another kind of thing with similarities to the thing in question is not "a bit of common sense", rather, it is highly illogical. What you have described as "rigid narrow intolerant fanatical literalistic textualism" would surely not have led to hundreds of fantasy files of exactly the same "worth" as this image being deleted with exactly the same rationale. It is permissible to observe and record a purported "trend" happening outside Commons, it is not within COM:SCOPE to anticipate or exaggerate one by generating all kinds of new examples of it. When dinosaurs are new discovered, we may illustrate them, until such time as they are discovered, we may not attempt to illustrate speculatively on their potential appearance. GPinkerton (talk) 06:18, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- It's rather unfortunate for you that you have such a rigid narrow intolerant fanatical deletionist mindset, that you're almost incapable of discussing in a reasonable manner a particular case where there are things going on a little bit beyond your usual mechanical generic boilerplate cutting-and-pasting routines. Your previous vehement vitriolic insistence that there was no recent trend toward Nordic cross designs in UK local flags has been revealed to be complete and total nonsense, so why should anyone bother with your latest nonsense? The flag below came close to becoming the official flag of West Germany in the late 1940s, and there have been various discussions and experimentations over the years among people who actually know something about flags... AnonMoos (talk) 08:45, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- I am sorry, I obviously wasn't clear before: pulling up all sorts of other Nordic crosses to prove Nordic cross flags exist does not make every and all possible combination of colours in a Nordic cross flag within scope. Your claims to the contrary are just special pleading. The image proposed for deletion came nowhere close to being any kind of anything, and the fact that you can't demonstrate anything to the contrary proves only that ad hominem is all you've got left to say in this discussion. The flag is a user-generated fantasy flag with no real-world applications and has no more place on Commmons than anyone's other doodles. GPinkerton (talk) 16:54, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- That's nice -- I already conclusively demonstrated that you have no real inhibitions about spouting forth factually false statements about things that you have no knowledge of. Trying to reshape an area of Commons (flags) which you seem to be ignorant about many aspects of, by means of generic boilerplate cut-and-pasting, and vehement vitriolic denunciations when someone dares to stand up to your cutting-and-pasting activities, is not something that I can respect. I'm already kind of regretting the few minutes of Googling that it took to refute your last round of bad-faith nonsense, and really can't be bothered to dig up "citations" to refute your current round of nonsense (such Wikipedia-style "citations" have a very limited role on Commons anyway, as I explained before). Suffice it to say that people interested in flags have been discussing and experimenting with Nordic-style flags off and on for years (at least since the 1940s), rising to prominence in the UK recently with the trend toward Nordic-style 21st-century local flags in Scotland (and to a lesser degree in Northern England). You can throw around all the epithets you want, but it won't change these facts (which you were ignorant of, and which don't seem to want to learn about if this would disturb in any way your grim humorless fanatical deletionism). AnonMoos (talk) 14:26, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
- Your opinions on the niceness or humorousness of images are irrelevant. This image is out of scope, and arguing that other wholly different images are not out of scope does not change the status of this image. You haven't been able to provide evidence that the image exists beyond Commons; the image is, as noted at the beginning of the discussion, out of scope. The length diversionist rhetoric above has demonstrated as much. You may feel that nominating rule-breaking files for deletion is bad faith, but then you clearly enjoy having such images on Commons. GPinkerton (talk) 17:10, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
- Also, above you claimed you had "refuted". "Refute" however, means "to prove wrong" not "deny without evidence". Best to be unambiguous. GPinkerton (talk) 17:12, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

- Whatever my opinions, they're based on factual knowledge, while your opinions are based on ignorance combined with a grim humorless fanatical deletionism that tries to impose an inappropriate uniformity which refuses to recognize possible special cases ("humorlessness" has nothing to do with images in this case, but refers to some martinet-type personality traits which you appear to have chosen to cultivate, as far as I can judge from the on-line conversations which you've participated in). Nominating this image for deletion is not inherently a bad-faith move, but some of your rhetoric above most definitely displays "reckless indifference to truth or falsehood" (as the lawyers say). I refuted your bad-faith nonsensical ignorant claim that there was no recent trend towards Nordic Cross designs in recently-adopted UK local flags by linking Scots communities go Nordic in rising demands for their own flags | HeraldScotland, thereby revealing that you have little concern for truth or falsehood. (As I said above, I'm kind of regretting the few minutes of Googling that it took to turn up that link, since it was more effort than your arguments deserved, viewed strictly on their own merits.) It would be nice if you could actually evaluate the substance of the arguments I've made for keeping this image, instead of just spouting some of your favorite epithets regardless of their appropriateness ("fantasy" etc etc) triggered by a knee-jerk reflex reaction to the fact that this is not an official national flag design... Then again, it might be better to leave it up to individual projects to decide what photo they want instead of making a decision here, since it's used in so many different contexts. clpo13(talk) 20:06, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
- Delete per nom, seems pretty obvious. Unfortunate that it's been uploaded for 10 years. Looks like they uploaded a bunch of pictures over two days and barely contributed again. Most of their uploads though look to be more of the style of personal photos from the 1960s, which are pretty valuable and seem unlikely to be copied from elsewhere (not really commercial photographer quality), so I'd probably leave those alone (i.e. keep them). The exception would be File:Nike1.jpg and File:Nike2.jpg, which state they come from a Netherlands Air Force calendar, so seems doubtful we can apply the license tags there. There does not seem to be any evidence supplied for that claim, anyways. Carl Lindberg (talk) 20:18, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

Halftoning on facade and incorrect geotag implies that this is a photograph of a printed picture such as a postcard. OTRS is needed unless uploader can demonstrate ownership. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.64.99.106 (talk) 08:10, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

A collage of photos (que no es usado y nadie sabe si son libres) 191.126.132.136 00:07, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Agree Speedy delete I agree with the nominator. The file is of low quality and falls outside of the Wikimedia Commons scope since it does not have a realistic educational purpose and does not have much use. I am seeking to have this file removed as a courtesy deletion since there are plenty of more useful and higher quality files on the same subject that Wikimedia Commons holds that can be used instead of this file. I believe this to be a well-reasoned request for a courtesy and/or speedy deletion and am hoping an administrator can help with this request. Thank you. WikiFan (talk) 19:53, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Keep shows a foreskin retraction in stages, useful illustration, no valid reason to delete. Dronebogus (talk) 04:07, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- Speedy delete In all honesty, there are many other files on Wikimedia that are much higher quality and more scientifically detailed. If this file were to be removed, little or no information will be lost. I do still maintain that this file falls outside of Commons scope since it is not realistically purposeful. I continue to request that this file be removed as a courtesy deletion. Thanks for any help. WikiFan (talk) 20:56, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Why do you keep uploading dick pics only to ask for them to be deleted later? @Ringmaster32571: --Trade (talk) 00:08, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
- This file was uploaded some time ago. I only ask that it be deleted as a courtesy for the reasons listed. I most definitely do not want to cause any hardships and am kindly requesting to have it removed by an administrator. WikiFan (talk) 00:31, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
- Could you nominate them all at once and just one at a time? @Ringmaster32571: --Trade (talk) 18:06, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- Trade, yes I would prefer to have them all nominated at once and removed at the same time. However, I am not sure how to do that. I did not initiate many of the current deletion requests myself although I agree with their deletions/removal from Commons. Any suggestions for their speedy removal is most welcomed and appreciated. Thanks. WikiFan (talk) 21:52, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

"Quelle: Internet" reicht m. Xocolatl (talk) 18:40, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- Keep as {{PD-old-assumed}}. Clearly dated on image as 1890. IronGargoyle (talk) 17:06, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
Kept: per IronGargoyle. The immediate source seems to be [4], but obviously this is a scan from a book, they don't say which one however (not clear on the "sources" page they have as well). --Rosenzweig τ 21:41, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
