[edit]Why do you want to delete my File:Spongebob imagination.jpg image? I had modified the image slightly by cropping it and after all, it is a meme. So it is for public use. This makes no sense.
However, I am not forcing you not to nominate it for deletion. It is for the public after all.

- I'm not the best at explaining so here's an official policy that would perhaps your question (also, something being a meme does not mean it isn't under copyright anymore), though if you have anything against that you should probably say something on the deletion request entry --Nutshinou Talk! 14:37, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 05:21, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

Please be careful when making categories hidden
[edit]Dear Nutshinou, I noticed that today you made some categories "hidden categories". But if you do so, the files in them, will get the category "Media needing categories as of ..." if they have no regular category. And that was exactly the reason why all these files are put into a category "to be categorised", like Category:RAA images Den Helder 1905-1940 to be categorised. So please do not do so anymore, unless you are absolutely sure that it won't do any harm. JopkeB (talk) 13:59, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- But if they are placed in this category, they are counted as "categorized" even though they should not be (because they need to be categorized)? This is the reason why these categories should be hidden instead of being regular categories Nutshinou Talk! 18:38, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- But then you should do something about the progam/code that adds automatically a category "Media needing categories as of ..." to files with no regular categories, to make an exception for files with hidden categories with "to be categorised" in the title. Until that problem is fixed, I propose to stop adding "hidden categories" to these categories. --JopkeB (talk) 02:15, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Not necessarily, the files are not categorized (other than a maintenance category), so they should go into the "Media needing categories as of" categories, and if the files gets categorized, they should be removed from both categories (like all the other hidden categories that contain files "to be categorized") Nutshinou Talk! 11:31, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

- But that is the whole point: we (at least I) do not want hundreds or thousands of files, all about one broad subject, to be in a category "Media needing categories as of ...", which is very general. We do not want other people to bother about categorising these file, but only the uploader and people who he/she is working with. That is why we park these files in an intermediate-category like Category:RAA images Den Helder 1905-1940 to be categorised. --JopkeB (talk) 15:54, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Rename request for File:09062-Bordes-Uchentein-argile.png
[edit]This rename request has been declined for reason 2 in Criteria to decline. The original image name is French and means "Bordes-Uchentein-clay" where Bordes-Uchentein is a region of France. The decline extends to the other 09062-Bordes-Uchentein-xxx files as well.
Thank you for your suggestion and please continue to recommend files that require renaming. Epolk (talk) 23:31, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Deletion requests
[edit]Hi, You need a proof to nominate a file for speedy deletion. Files like File:Partenza Race for the Cure 2023.jpg are most probably the uploader's work, so they are not eligible for speedy deletion. Thanks, Yann (talk) 18:33, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for letting me know. What I found weird is that in the metadata of this file, the "Copyright holder" field reads "Paola Capparella" (which doesn't correspond with the uploader's username), this is not the case for the other files uploaded by said user (with all of them also having varying/inconsistent metadata). Nutshinou Talk! 18:39, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi. The speedy criteria is reasonable strict and exact duplicate does NOT include other file types. — billinghurst sDrewth 07:40, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- Noted, thank you, will avoid any similar speedy nominations in the future. -- Nutshinou Talk! 12:26, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- I am again back here to point to this guidance. Exact duplicate is required for speedy deletion, so would you please reacquaint yourself with the page. Different versions of the same image are allowable at Commons, and where you believe that they are superfluous, then the process is a normal deletion, not trying to push it through as a speedy deletion. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:22, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- My general way that this could be considered is, if we are truly are limiting someone's choice of what they are selecting then we are probably NOT in the exact duplicate space. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:32, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
Copyright deletion of Godus photo

Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:Group photograph at Tennoji Miyako Hotel in Dec 2010.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.
|
The reason given by the user who added this tag is: How is this ineligible for copyright?

"I find Commons making it very easy to host and fabricate hoaxes most unfortunate (e.g. uploading fictitious flags and adding them to a sparsely populated place where no one will see/check.)"
[edit]I feel like the only way to solve this issue would be to bring it up on Meta. There is little Commons can do about it Trade (talk) 14:27, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

Would you please reread this guidance. Admins cannot speedy delete items in use for supposed advertising, they need a DR. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:19, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- These aren't in use per COM:INUSE ("An otherwise non-educational file does not acquire educational purpose solely [...] because it is in use on a user page (the "User:" namespace)") but sure, I'll open a deletion request for such cases. Nutshinou Talk! 23:05, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, seems like it was a mistake on your part (no other sysops consider spam not to be eligible for speedy deletion even if it's used on the uploader's userpage, per aforementioned policy) and since I'm opening a considerable number of deletion requests, I'm going to stop Nutshinou Talk! 17:41, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

[edit]You nominated two images here for deletion as duplicates. I don’t have a problem with that. What I have a problem with, is your deleting files, without ensuring that the full template data is transferred to the permanent file first? Do you ensure that is the case before nominating files for deletion? Broichmore (talk) 07:17, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
- I do transfer data to the original files when tagging duplicates files if it's useful yes, but here it didn't seem like there was anything relevant ("Source: Internet" isn't better than what is on the bigger file), other than the author, who I added the category for and would've added as part of the infobox if I could. Looking at other files in Category:Illustrations from Gartenlaube, it seems like there is no way to add an author to the {{Gartenlaube}} template. Nutshinou Talk! 12:19, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Several of my files were deleted by you, citing copyright violations. For the last three files you were correct (thank you very much for that), but for others they were actually either CC BY-SA or CC0, and were marked as such in their corresponding iNaturalist entries. If you could restore them, that would be very appreciated. Bloopityboop (talk) 07:02, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Very sorry about this, when I tagged the files I thought the licensing of the observation was the same as the licensing of the images, I figured that I made a mistake a bit after the files were deleted, and I meant to request undeletion of them, but forgot to do it. -- Nutshinou Talk! 09:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
