Unused personal photo, out of scope per COM:SELFIE. Uploading user is inactive since nearly five years. AFBorchert (talk) 15:58, 4 August 2017 (UTC) I just notice that this has been nominated & kept before. Please consider the uploader wrote “pacar” in the description field. Google translate understands this as “girlfriend”. This is confirmed by the corresponding Wiktionary entry. Hence, this is apparently not a selfie. This has been photographed in a private setting, the uploader's name appears to be a real name, the title of the photo could be the given name of the depicted person. All this is very problematic in regard to COM:PEOPLE and the inexperienced uploader (this was the very only edit in all our projects) was very likely not familiar with free licenses and personality rights. --AFBorchert (talk) 16:15, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

I am renominating this file as the last DR was closed with delete but subsequently restored on base of this discussion outside the DR. In my opinion neither the closure nor the restoration addressed the point that this picture is not a selfie as the uploader's description designates the depicted person as “pacar”, i.e. as girl-friend. This is problematic as this photo has been taken in a private setting and we have no proof that this photo was published with the consent of the depicted person, see COM:PEOPLE#The right of privacy. - AFBorchert, thanks for your explanation of what Commons’ laguage policy is; you have however wasted your time, as I am quite aware of it, and I do not question User:E4024’s right to express himself in the language of his choice. I however have the right to criticize that choice. This is not a case of User:E4024 exercising his right to use the language he prefers: User:E4024 user is proficient in English and the image subjected to this DR has an English language description, therefore chosing Turkish to compose this DR is either a copy&paste blunder (that should be corrected) or an attempt to confuse and hostilize the uploader.
- As for the meaning of the sentence, well, I can use Google Translater too (not to mention that I share lodgings with a native speaker of a Turkic language), and I knew what that sentence means; it’s a lie, regardless of the language it is conveyed in.

- Yes, it is. Looks like that the tendency to file DRs on photos depicting brown people is so pervasive it even affects twice the same filename by sheer happenstance. This file was discussed before and deleted/kept in various occasions. (If there was another file with this same name sorry about that.) The last time the closing admin, P 1 9 9, said: "Kept: clearly a personal photo, but User:Tuvalkin wants to keep it." I am sure no individual user would like to impose an own preference on others, but let us leave it apart. This is a small file without camera EXIF and which means it is a dubious "own work". We do delete many files everyday for only this "precaution". (Personally I see no educational use, or scope, in the image, but that is not so important now. For some reason the image is not used.) Biosharphotos by this user were taken with an iPhone 6s, as per their metadata, while this one has no metadata therefore you conclude it was not the same uploader’s work? You can see it is the same person (which we assume is User:Kigona, per COM:AGF), and the photo has same exact pixel count. That suggests that this is also from an iPhone 6s (so I was wrong about it being a cheap feature phone) and the lack of metadata might be due to its loss caused by the use of subpar software for axis rotation or contrast correction or some such. The one photo from this uploader that is not obviously a selfie, File:Bioshar 01.jpg, seems to show intact metadata and might have been taken with timer and tripod. I frankly cannot see any good reason to chose COM:PRP over COM:AGF concerning this photo. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 20:42, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

- Delete If this had been a clearly (or probably) free image- albeit mistagged- I'd have said you should have used {{Wrong license}} or {{Disputed}}.
- However, this appears to be a copy (i.e. barely even a derivative work) of something by Charles Avery a living artist born in 1973. Since no clear permission, background information and/or ownership that would let us use it has been shown so far- something that is the responsibility of the uploader- we must assume this is a derivative copyvio. This image is plastered all over the web as one of the few extant for this species, but the plant in the image is an entirely unrelated one! It's clearly a Euphorbia (note the district fruit capsules at some stem tips), and Adenia subsessilifolia doesn't look like anything remotely close to this, apart from not having many leaves. Yes, there is a placard for "Adenia subsessilifolia" at the base of the plant, but botanic gardens aren't perfect and make mistakes, usually quite often for a less-known species like this. Either someone made a huge mistake with their identification, or the existing A. subsessilifolia died, because there aren't any in the photo.
Removal would be appreciated (A. subsessilifolia is very endangered, eventually when a picture is uploaded people will be able to see what it looks like, and know not to trample or destroy them. But this image is misleading and has no relevance. I'll even post an image of a cultivated one if no one else does in the next year or so.) 69.181.158.36 02:48, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hi there - I'm sorry that I have mis-identified whatever plant is in the photo; as you might imagine, I am not a botanist and copied the name from the botanical label that seemed to identify the plant. And I'm even sorrier that the image is "plastered all over the web" if it's incorrect. However, I think that deleting the photo is not the right course of action here. The first two should be {{PD-UK-unknown}} as they were clearly stamped in 1912 (and anonymous corporate publications) and the last one should be {{PD-Zimbabwe}}, as duration is 50 years for photographic works. Given the history of Terence English's life, he spent one year in Southern Rhodesia circa 1949. I assume that Zimbabwe copyright law presumably applies for works made in South Rhodesia. However, the source being listed in this image's summary as just an old 19th century publication does not seem acceptable. This looks like it's been a poor name causing a bad assignment. Reported at OTRS 2017080610011565. It appears that this image has been used in lots of articles for Fernande Olivier. However the OTRS poster points out that it's actualy Fernande Barrey (see File:Fernande vintage nude photo 8.jpg. Looking at the faces, I can see his point. My suggestion is that both images need to be properly named and File:Agelou21.jpg needs not to be re-linked in the renaming process - both linked web sites are long dead, and no archive - or we just delete as not enough data to verify identity. - Yes, sorry, I tagged it as needing permission because the Marine Conservation Institute is a nonprofit organization, not a US government agency. While their licensing info is sort of hard to find on their website, most of these diagrams and maps come from their atlas project, and at the bottom of that page it says "© Marine Conservation Institute", indicating that they copyright some or all of their work. I don't think its fully own work of uploader since I found the Morius image all over the internet prior to this upload which makes the figurative part of this image a COM:COPYVIO. - Having been "used and also published by the college" (an assumption - no evidence is presented) has no bearing on its copyright status. The page it was taken from is copyrighted, and that copyright cover the entire page. Request: When I created File:BSicon dBHF-M.svg, for some reason I didn’t notice that File:BSicon dBHFm.svg already existed. (SKRZ-Bo) have used #003399 instead of e.g. #0079C1 for motorways since at least 2007. In any case both images are supposed to look the same, so I've opened a discussion at Talk:BSicon/Colors. - CommentUpload is based on Freedom of panoram in the Czech Republic (painting on wall in train station building) {{FoP-Czech Republic}}. The original instalation of artworks is seen for example there: File:Turnov, nádražní hala.jpg. Author of painting is Karel Vik (died 1964). On Commons, we have some cases about czech 2D works (in favor of FoP - still "thin ice"), but now I see, that there are also problems with train stations (interior) as "public space" (Commons:Deletion requests/File:Karviná hlavní nádraží, pokladny.jpg). Charly1234 = the man on the left on this picture: http://www.stalinbahn-trilogie.de/impressum.htm Those guys visited the railroad and published a German book on it, and they run the website where the pics are from. Just not too experienced in copyright stuff. Don't hurry to delete as some other pics. The pics are here for 8 years or so, no sense at all in deleting them in a couple of hours (or even weeks). What is needed are actual sources where the materials came from, correct dates, and your best efforts to put a license on them which is not "own work" license. Some of these may be old enough to be kept, others may not be. There are also other fine points of licensing which you may find helpful at COM:HIRTLE as well as COM:L. It's not a matter of motivating or demotivating; the Commons servers are in the United States and materials have to be free of copyright to be hosted here.
