No author, no permission, no license. In detail: The uploads of Free-Photos to Pixabay are known to be not their own original work. The image can be found not only at Pixabay but also at MaxPixel, PeakPx, pxhere and another upload at pxhere. The oldest image on the web seems to be this one and - surprise - it's the only one carrying an IMO authentic EXIF. Completely made-up licensing claims. According to http://www.britishpathe.com/blog/ancestors-of-kate-middleton-found-on-film/, this is a still from a video that British Pathé asserts copyright over. British Pathé's claim may be valid if the author lived for another 32 years after the recording and/or the footage remained unpublished for some time. There is no sign of any free licensing at the secondary source provided by the uploader nor at the original source. —LX (talk, contribs) 08:25, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

- 101.189.184.64, the licensing claim that User:Srbernadette put on the file was "CC-BY-SA-4.0", whether or not they noticed, this does not appear to be correct. The press can use copyrighted media much more liberally than Wikimedia Commons can, we can only host copyright-free or freely-licensed content. LX is suggesting that it is still copyrighted in the UK, so the thing that you can do is try to either (a) provide any evidence to show it is not still copyrighted in the UK, or (b) reach out to British Pathé for clarification. seb26 (talk) 02:13, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Srbernadette, as the deletion request page says, 7 days. Longer at an admin's discretion if it appears a discussion is still ongoing. I have to say while I appreciate your interest in contributing content, something you might learn with time will be that, at times, it's necessary to let go. Not every image is defendable. The only thing you can do is put forward evidence, opinions or votes don't matter because the admins will consider the interpretation of Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright rules by territory. The original file/picture above appeared in both the Yorkshire Evening Post (Leeds) and the Yorkshire Post (Leeds) - these papers were published in London and, along with the UK Times and UK Telegraph and UK Financial Times - were sent to Library of Congress and other leading USA institutions where the Royal (Princess Mary was sister of both King George V and Edward VIII) photos - in particular - were then reprinted/republished in USA publications such as The British Colonialist (1858-1951) http://www.britishcolonist.ca/

The photographer was a freelance photographer who was largely retired by 1912. His name was "Mac Iver" of Leeds/Bradford. There was no initial in front of the surname so he would be Donald Mac Iver - died 1929. https://sites.google.com/site/leedsandbradfordstudios/home/donald-mac-iver N.B. - There is a very small chance that the photo was taken by his daughter who was possibly employed as a photographer's assistant at The Yorkshire Post. But as the file/photo is of Royalty - I think it likely that her father was asked to do the photos for the newspaper. Please let me know if this helps and if you can fix it all up! - I don't think so, to say it is text is to ignore the complexity of the design of the shape right above the words 'Mazda'. Mazda is a Japanese company so I would say that Japanese threshold of originality is also important here as well as US. It says works need to have "thoughts or sentiments expressed in a creative way", and elements of text need to have "artistic appreciation". The page gives examples of text logos as being OK for not-copyrightable status, but the emblem of Mazda in this image is not just pure shapes. It is a more detailed drawing that uses shading, bevel and shadows to create a perspective-like drawing. This is much more unique than say just the outline of emblem as like in this Mazda logo (external). This image was uploaded by a user account presenting themselves as Mazda (Mazda de Colombia S.A.S (talk · contribs)), but a national subdivision of them based in Colombia, so in order to consider the validity of the free license, a statement would have to come from OTRS (and not anyone who can select a company account name on Wikimedia) and importantly, come from someone in the global marketing department rather than a country division. Derivative work of copyrighted material: these map images do not say the source where the underlying map comes from, it does not look like OpenStreetMap [7]. Even though it does not appear to be Google Maps [8], it is a map service for sure and not just author own work, we should delete these out of doubt but there will be 7 days of this discussion from which new ones can be created potentially using OpenStreetMap.

- Jose dela, thanks for commenting. We can only host copyright-free or free licensed material here. If you are not the photographer, you are not likely a legally appropriate person to upload this file. You may notice that when you uploaded it you selected a license called "Creative Commons BY-SA-4.0". You can only place this on images you legally own yourself. Physical ownership of a copy is not the same. Also, if this was taken by the military of the Dominican Republic, COM:CRT#Dominican Republic doesn't list any exemptions for government work, which means either the military or the photographer still owns the legal rights to the photo. It was not taken by dominican government. My father went to a professional photographer, paid him for a photo shoot. As soon as you paid to a photographer for a photo shoot of your self, you are buying that work and that professional doesnt have any more legal interest on that work. [edit]Scope: the subject of these photographs is Alejandro Brittes, an Argentinian musician. His Wikipedia presence has been eliminated from 3 wikis (es-wiki, pt-wiki, and en-wiki) starting from 2007, for various reasons but mostly for notability. The majority of the photographs could be not be used for any other purpose other than to illustrate the person (possibly with the exception of one and two). However...
Copyright doubt: these images have been uploaded by a user whose name implies a talent producer of some kind, and visually appear to have been taken at different times and potentially from different photographers (given the different cameras). Commons:OTRS/es permission is required in order to verify that the photographers involved have actually be consulted about the free license used here. Without this, the images should be deleted due to doubt.

Other images in their photostream (e.g. this) have copyright notices seemingly conflicting the CC-BY-SA tag. They probably don't have the right to license these images under the CC licence.

- Please check in their Tourism Malaysia photo album in Flickr. I've skimmed through the photos there and it appears all of the photos inside that album are tagged as "public domain". That's where the three photos that you've suggested to be deleted are found in that album. While the photo that you showed with CC-BY-SA tag is from a different album called OBLU SELECT at Sangeli. I believe the reason for the CC-BY-SA tag in the OBLU SELECT at Sangeli album is because Oblu Select is a resort, therefore it is a private company with (usually) interest of their own. While the other Tourism Malaysia is a tourism programme by the Malaysian government to promote tourism to the public. The second image is a book cover which was uploaded by a user account who presents themselves as the publisher, but no information is provided on the origins of the photograph or whether the cover is able to be freely licensed (most aren't). Scope: These images were uploaded to illustrate es:La espía (Novela) on Spanish Wikipedia, but that article was deleted for being a copyright violation. It was recreated at es:User:PRHMéxico2017 and on first glance there is no general assertions of notability aside from being a newly published book and only publisher-related sources used. These images serve more as advertising and don't have any other educational use aside from illustrating the book itself

Comment Covers of books by encyclopaedic writers are definitely in scope for Commons if free-licensed, whether the article is deleted or not, whether it's a spammy article (it certainly is) or not. Paulo Coelho, whether he writes crap or not (he certainly does), is notable enough. Nevertheless, there are serious copyright concerns, so Delete. An OTRS permission is needed. A Public Domain Mark (PDM) tag here on the flickr source is incompatible with Common's licensing policies. The copyright owner retains full control over this image and does not give away any rights. Commons can be sued by the copyright owner. PDM is not really a license and therefore is not permitted on Commons except where it can be shown that the image is PD for known reasons such as a US Government image. See this flickr license table, where Commons can generally only take flickr images with Attribution, Attribution-ShareAlike or public domain dedication (CC0) licenses.
