Il Trentino-Alto Adige (in tedesco Trentino-Südtirol) è una regione dell'Italia nord-orientale di 0,9 milioni di abitanti, con capoluogo Trento e formata da due regioni storico-culturali e amministrative, l'Alto Adige a nord, corrispondente alla provincia autonoma di Bolzano ed il Trentino a sud, corrispondente alla provincia autonoma di Trento. Confina a nord con l'Austria (Tirolo e Salisburghese), a sud ed est col Veneto ed a sud e ovest con la Lombardia, a ovest con la Svizzera (Canton Grigioni).
Trentino-Südtirol ist die nördlichste Region Italiens. Sie ist 13.607 km² groß und hat rund 980.000 Einwohner. Die Landschaft ist stark durch die Alpen geprägt, besonders von den Dolomiten. Hauptfluss ist die Etsch, auf welche der italienische Name Südtirols zurückgeht ("oberes Etschland").

Trentino-Alto Adige - Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol is an autonomous region in Northern Italy, with borders to ► Austria. It consists of two provinces: Trento and Bolzano-Bozen, where in the latter the majority of the population speak German as their first language. The region was part of Austria-Hungary (and its predecessor, the Austrian Empire) from 1803 until its annexation by Italy in 1919. It was officially referred to as Venezia Tridentina between 1919 and 1947 and Trentino-Alto Adige/Tiroler Etschland between 1947 and 1972. In English, the commonly used term is Trentino-Alto Adige; Trentino-South Tyrol is also sometimes used. Together with the Austrian state of Tyrol it is represented by the Euroregion Tirol-Südtirol/Alto Adige-Trentino.
