The video used to be available on VOA's website as "download" link on the top of this archived page shows. Then it has been moved to Youtube. Unfortunately, on Youtube it is licenced under "Standard YouTube License". On the other hand IMO it hasn't any meaning as VOA is US Government's entity. I leave licence review for you as more experienced person in this area. --jdx Re: 18:13, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Photos insérées dans différents articles et retirées
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Xavierd80
Bonjour User talk:Racconish,
Ci joint liste selon lien ci-dessus

Non ? Salignac (talk) 20:12, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

De pire en pire
Hello.
FredD (talk) 09:14, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello! I didn't catch, why you blanked the description of the page: see history. I restored this description:
{{Motd description|Personnel training and fire training alarm in {{w|Karelian Research Centre of RAS}}, 2018.|en|2018|04|26}}
What is incorrect here? -- Andrew Krizhanovsky (talk) 08:34, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- @AKA MBG: Apologies for the mess-up. When creating {{Motd/2018-04-27 thumbtime}}, I made a mistake and created {{Motd/2018-04-26 thumbtime}} instead (which should be blanked). Then I realized my mistake and tried to correct it, but did a second mistake, blanking the captioned English description instead of the related thumbtime. Hi Racconish. Please can I know the reason why you add this category at so much files? It's a nonsense. I distinguish Photographs by Portraits, and Portraits are a sub-cat of Photographs, so that you add the category "Photographs by Nadar" at portraits files by Nadar, simply it's an overcategorisation, and that is not correct. Then you add the category Photographs by Nadat at files that are not of Nadar, like this or this or this, and a lot of other files. Please rollback all this nonsense! Thank you. I deleted (with regrets) her films you rightly nominated for deletion. I suppose you didn't nominate File:Burstup Holmes Murder Case (1913) - ALICE GUY BLACHE.webm because this is an American film and therefore likely out of copyright in the source country. Do you agree with my warning/note on the category page? Gestumblindi (talk) 00:22, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm the ONLY photographer of this photo and fixed the original image.
Why not suitable for Commons although I take this photo by myself ten years ago in TWTC?
And I also fixed this image to suit with Commons' Policy.
Should I make a request from the PR of CTimes? Rico Shen contact... 21:07, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

Opinion?
Hi, Racconish, as you have been involved in the review of various Hannah Arendt photos, may I ask what is your expert opinion of this Flickr photo. It appears to be licensed with CC BY 2.0, and the photo appears on various other sites stating the same author and licence. Would that be OK to upload in Commons, or do you think it is nonetheless questionable? Antilope (talk) 15:56, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
- Antilope, the photo is on Getty' image bank with credits to the Bettmann Archive, with a mention of 1963. [1] This might indicate it comes from a press agency. — Racconish 💬 17:20, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
- Well, as far as I can see, that's a clearly a different photo, albeit most likely taken at the same occasion. But I guess you mean that it does raise doubts about the authorship. Antilope (talk) 18:43, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Administrator
Hi, Racconish. You work often with media of the day. But main page is fully cascade-protected, so if a mistake is discovered in today's media of the day, then you cannot repair it, because you are not an administrator. Do you want to become an administrator? Taivo (talk) 18:28, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
- Taivo, thanks for the suggestion. This would at least allow me to speedy delete my own uploads with typos instead of giving the hassle to somebody else . I appreciate the local tradition of proposing somebody else for adminship. Should you feel confident enough to propose my name to the community, I would feel honored. — Racconish 💬 18:51, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Aw horachmim (1909).ogg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Confusion over File:Pattern Grid 40x40.png vs. File:Pattern Grid 32x32.png
I'm a bit confused by your recent renaming of File:Pattern Grid 32x32.png back to File:Pattern Grid 40x40.png, and I think it may have been a mistake. The file is obviously a 32×32 grid, but it was originally uploaded as File:Pattern Grid 40x40.png. It was nominated for deletion on the basis that the name was wrong, so I renamed it (under citerion 3: obvious error) to File:Pattern Grid 32x32.png. You have now closed the deletion request Keep, and renamed the file back to File:Pattern Grid 40x40.png, "per request". Is this a simple mistake, or is there some request for renaming back to what appears to be an incorrect name? --bjh21 (talk) 17:50, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

I don't think the English description is proper. AFAIR in this context "by John Bowers" means "directed by John Bowers", but according to the IMDB page Bowers played "just" male main role. --jdx Re: 22:17, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

You closed Commons:Deletion requests/File:The Point Purakanui Inlet Blueskin Bay Otago New Zeand.jpg as kept based on the idea that the photographer was W. A. Taylor, who died in 1952. That would be fine, if the photographer was W. A. Taylor (as User:Geo Swan claimed). The problem is that the person who uploaded it to Flickr admits they don't know the source of the image. The image does not appear in the book Geo Swan cited. When I pointed this out to Geo Swan in the DR he simply refused to confirm this. The text is from Taylor's book, but the photo is not. In fact, it appears to be a scan of a loose photo rather than a scan of a printed image from a book. Lastly, if you look at the image itself, there is text in the lower right corner. It isn't completely legible, but clearly does not say Taylor. Can you reconsider your closure? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 17:35, 23 November 2018 (UTC)

Tutorizing photographers
Hello Racconish, for some years now I have been tutorizing some photographers, and Unnika is one of them. I convinced her to collaborate with the wikimedia project to upload some interesting photos for us. She just followed my instructions and now is disappointed with the project. Let me talk to her again and I'll try to convince her again to avoid stop collaborating. What steps should she take to restore the images? --Yuanga (talk) 21:17, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Yuanga and Unnika: the deleted files come from unniks.com and are indicated in the EXIF as "Cristina R. All rights reserved". I am willing to acknowledge a mistake and help out, but please understand that there is no obvious link between the uploader and the copyright holder. Maybe some clarification is needed here to start with . If it implies personal information, feel free to email me. Otherwise, I am willing to explain in more detail the OTRS process. — Racconish 💬 22:09, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- True, she uploads their images to unniks.com (and she is unnika, can you see the relation?) and some of these files are upoloaded to wikimedia too. She uploads the files using {{Own work}} template, but now I realize that it is not enough. What do you need? Maybe an email from any @unniks.com mail address saying something? Thanks! --Yuanga (talk) 20:45, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- Here you can see a bio page in unniks.com where you can link her to "Cristina R.". --Yuanga (talk) 20:51, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Yuanga and Unnika: : the usual way would be for her to forward to OTRS as unnika, the Commons user, her authorization as Cristina R., the photographer, to release Cristina R.'s images uploaded by unnika under cc-by-sa. I would undelete the files and she would mark each of them as {{OTRS pending}}. Once the OTRS ticket will be approved, you can use it for future uploads. Does this work for you? — Racconish 💬 23:08, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- I understand. I will mark unnika's files with {{OTRS pending}} template. In the future, she will continue tagging with the same template and sending an e-mail to commons for each photo or this will not be necessary? Exist eany option to avoid this long procedure? About the e-mail, a text generated by Wikimedia OTRS release generator is ok? --Yuanga (talk) 07:20, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- I am undeleting these files with a reference to our discussion. I think the best is to apply the ticket to Category:Images by Unnika, to put {{OTRS pending}} in the category and to add a mention such as "See Category:Images by Unnika in the permission section of the file description. Not sure about the ticket generator, might not be suited to such a case. A clear email might be better. — Racconish 💬 09:46, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

- @Racconish: No, not for now as no one has added the language switcher (or whatever it's called). We can always ask for unprotection when we find someone who knows how to add that feature. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 23:26, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
- Does the template still need to remain unprotected ? — Racconish 💬 14:56, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Yuanga: The email to hold on was sent to her on 18 December and I followed up with instructions on 22 Dec. I'll resend it anyway. Ww2censor (talk) 14:21, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

Commons:Deletion requests/File:Brunomottastandup.jpg (not closed yet but similar, needs to be kept)
Brunomotta's identity was verified by the OTRS team. See File:Bruno Motta.jpg and Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Brunomotta. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 13:05, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: , OK, I will look into this later today. Cheers, — Racconish 💬 13:07, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. @Sphilbrick: you said "We received an explicit permission statement for File:BrunoZé03pq.JPG but it was not needed as there appears to be an acceptable license on Flickr". Clearly that statement was needed.. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 13:13, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: the deleted picture is this one, which is copyrighted to Washington Alves/Light Press according to the EXIF at Flickr, and released under CC0 by the sole Bruno Motta. I still consider Washington Alves permission is necessary at Commons and Bruno Motta's release is not sufficient, as he is not the copyright holder. Please note Washington Alves photos at Light Press which are available on line are copyrighted [2]. — Racconish 💬 14:15, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- See also User talk:Alexis Jazz/Archives/2018/June#Images for Deletion. I can't see the OTRS ticket so it's hard for me to judge. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 14:52, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Alexis Jazz: as far as I can see the ticket you refer to covers File:Bruno Motta.jpg, which comes from here with a copyright to Luringa. I am not sure the ticket expressly covers Luringa's own release under CC0, but even if it would, it would be most unusual that it would include also Alves release of the file we discussed first. — Racconish 💬 15:02, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

File:Anca Pop August 20, 2015.jpg
What was the point of deleting that image? It was uploaded by Anca herself on Flickr before her death, and now just because it was used on an article you think it's a reason to delete it? It's so senseless and so offensive to do something like this, to completely deny her rights after she decided to upload it on a free licence. Sabinbik22 (talk) 23:49, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Sabinbik22: according to the EXIF information at Flickr [3], this obviously posed photograph is copyrighted to the Romanian photographer Marius Baragan. Hence, Anca Pop is the sitter, not the author, and cannot license herself somebody else's work. Baragan's permission through OTRS is needed for undeletion. — Racconish 💬 06:38, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- It makes sense, thanks for making it clear, regards. Sabinbik22 (talk) 23:41, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Kind regards DejaVu (talk) 15:27, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello DejaVu, I have undeleted the file and started a regular DR to allow for community discussion. — Racconish 💬 15:37, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi! The result of the DR is OK, although I don't understand the cause: not the painter uploaded this file. No matter. But you forgot remove the template from the file. --Regasterios (talk) 15:49, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Done thanks Regasterios. — Racconish 💬 15:52, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

File:Tedi BFD.jpg, File:Tedi Boss BFD.jpg and others
I want to resurrect the images "Tedi BFD.jpg" and "Tedi Boss.jpg" to put what was required: permission, license and author and ask for support to reach an agreement. I hope you understand this and I would be grateful ... --CRAW309 (talk) 19:21, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
