Parque Dom Pedro II
[edit]Oi Dornicke, your picture: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheiro:Parque_Dom_Pedro_II,_vista_do_centro_1.JPG – Is it really from 2009? Crazy, how this place changed the last years. Abraço Alo. --177.32.177.103 12:17, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- It is, but, in fact, it didn't change much. I just found a photogenic corner. Dornicke (talk) 16:30, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- I was there some days ago, but it looks more than a dump now. However, you know if there are still games? --177.32.177.103 11:55, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Please help
[edit]Hi, greetings from Moscow. I see you uploaded this nice portrait File:Philip Maliavin- Retrato do Embaixador Smirnoff.JPG - Russian painter, Russian sitter, Museum in Brazil. We here in Russia are trying to find out who was the person, but thanks to Vodka brand, it is impossible to google. Maybe you still have catalog it is scanned from and there is sitter's full name or even the initials? Clearly in it 1926? no 1936 or 1916? (resolution is not well enough). Since when it is in your museum? Gift from USSR government, private, bought? Please, we are waiting for your answer. --Shakko (talk) 20:19, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- thank you very much. As an anonymous gift it is more enigmatic... We can't conclude was it Soviet ambassador or former Emperor's. It can't be Russian in Brazil, as we hadn't diplomatic relations in these years yet, and Malyavin should be working in France at this time. Ah, and besides vodka, surname "Smirnov" is FIRST in list of most popular Russian surnames. It will be so nice to include this portrait in proper article. Thank you once again, we are waiting for news. --Shakko (talk) 06:57, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Arthur Timótheo da Costa - Marinha. 1919.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:Tour traje.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File tagging File:Oscar Niemeyer (0,,20926942,00).jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Oscar Niemeyer (0,,20926942,00).jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Oscar Niemeyer (0,,20926942,00).jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Oi Dornicke! Dornicke (talk) 22:59, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Arqueologia do Mediterrâneo
[edit]Hi, at first thanks for uploading images of these artefacts, the most people never would see in their life. But - what should I do with a description as "Artefatos em vidro no acervo de arqueologia do Mediterrâneo"? Together with such an image? What do we see? Looks like glas, but maybe there are vessels made of clay or stone too. From where it is? When is it made? Roman? Greek? Cypriotic? Levantine? Egyptian? Minor asiatic? Sorry, but this image is unusable for anything without further informations. At least we need informations as here. I'm working to ancient greek pottery. So I would be so happy about images you made. But how I shoud use this or that. The first one clearly is underitalic red-figure, but I bet, there is more to know. Apulian? Campanian? Paestan? Sicilian? Lucanian? Made when? The secons probably too is from an underitalic workshop, on the other hand it is an amphora in the nolan style. I can't tell more about it only with the images. We need more informations and I bet there were more. And this for example is not an amulet - it is a votive. An amulet should prevent you against bad things. A votive is a gif for the gods, bidding for something or thanking for something. Here you are doing it again very well. But even here critic - this is greek art, made by grreks living in southern "Italy". This is not Gnathia style, this is red-figure. Maybe it's the easiest to try to do it with a checklist:
- who made it (person)
- who made it (culture)
- when was it made
- where was it made
- where was ist found
- which style
- which shape
- where it is today
- a description
Such files would be so helpfull and they are desperatly needed. Marcus Cyron (talk) 00:55, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, there. I'm trying to add as much information as I have available. Unfortunatelly, several of these pieces did not have signs with informations when I had the opportunity of photographing them. I've found some information on the catalogue of the museum where they're located and also on their website. It's my intention to research about them and expand the information with time. Feel free to add or correct information as well, any kind of help in identifying these pieces is welcome. Regards, Dornicke (talk) 01:21, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- These are Roman, found in Pompeii. All glasses. Dornicke (talk) 01:33, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

File tagging File:Idolo antropomorfo de Iguape (cropped).jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Idolo antropomorfo de Iguape (cropped).jpg.
Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Idolo antropomorfo de Iguape (cropped).jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Original Barnstar | |
Dear Dornicke,
I have recently written a book called "A Journey to Faith" in which I follow the genealogy in the Bible from Abraham to Jesus. I would like to ask for permission to use the image of the the death of Judas Maccabaeus (File Image: José Teófilo de Jesus - A morte de Judas Macabeu.jpg) as I write about him in the period of Judean history prior to the time of Jesus when the Roman Empire took over the nation. I understand that the image has been placed in the public domain, but my publisher requires me to receive written permission to use any image (by email is fine). Could I ask you if you would be so kind as to mind sending me an email with your approval? The image will be credited to you in the book directly underneath the image. I look forward to hearing from you soon - kind regards, Paul Brunton. PaulBrunton64 (talk) 12:08, 25 September 2015 (UTC) |

Copyright status: File:Pedro Weingärtner - Estação de ferro.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |

There's missing a U.S. licence, see Commons:Copyright tags#United States and Commons:Copyright tags#Non-U.S. works. The painter died in 1929, so the painting could be published 1923 or later. In that case, it has to be deleted on Commons because of not being in the Public Domain in the United States. Maybe it could be used locally on another wiki or on English Wikipedia under the conditions of fair use, but that's not possible on Commons. Regards --Bjarlin (talk) 01:14, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- You've used the wrong tag, so I've reverted you. This painting is from 1913 [1], so it's accepted in this project. Regards, Dornicke (talk) 01:18, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- That was not the wrong tag, because there has been missing the date (it could have been from 1923 or after that), and there was missing a U.S. licence. Do you know any better tag for this, if there is missing a U.S. licence and it's not clear, if a file has been made before 1923? The tag said that "This media file does not have sufficient information on its copyright status", and that is exactly, what has been missing. If you knew that the painting is from 1913, then you shouldn't have written "unknown date" here. --Bjarlin (talk) 01:31, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
And if the title of the painting is not "Estrada de ferro", why is that the name in the file description now? --Bjarlin (talk) 01:35, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- It hadn't been corrected yet. Done now. I think researching is important before sending files to deletion. Regards. Dornicke (talk) 01:42, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- I couldn't find anything about it. Thanks for correcting. Regards --Bjarlin (talk) 01:58, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Um abraço, André Koehne TALK TO ME 19:25, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
Acessei a lei, o art. André Koehne TALK TO ME 03:09, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Olá, Koehne, grato pela correção. Alterei a categoria para "Bahia in art". Abraço. Dornicke (talk) 03:10, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Museu Nacional
[edit]Hello,
Thank you so much for uploading this picture [3].
As this piece might have been destroyed during the recent fire in Rio, there is a debate about it. Several media present it as the throne of Adandozan while your caption describes it as a copy of Kpenga's throne. I think you are right, but I can't find any other reference. Do you know one ?
Regards,
Ji-Elle (talk) 10:00, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Ji-Elle. This is a late 18th or early 19th century copy of Kpenga's throne, donated to King John VI of Portugal by Adandozan. I've found this discription in the sign explaining the artwork during my visit to the museum. Found some references, but only in Portuguese like this one from the museum's website. Dornicke (talk) 16:04, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for your quick answer. If you find more about it, even in Portuguese, I remain interested. We are all very sorry about this tragedy. Ji-Elle (talk) 16:34, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
I am here to express thanks to Dornicke for his/her work taking pictures of the exhibitions in the National Museum of Brazil. You did a great work and the descriptions are very detailed. emijrp (talk) 11:24, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, Emijrp. I'd never imagine these pictures would be so important due to a tragedy like this. It's a very sad loss for all of us. Dornicke (talk) 16:04, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- I am using them in en:Collection of funerary steles in the National Museum of Brazil and en:Collection of meteorites in the National Museum of Brazil. I hope similar pages for other collections are created. emijrp (talk) 18:02, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Good to hear that. I'll try to create some other pages regarding the collections. Dornicke (talk) 18:41, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Rodrigo Padula (talk) 02:58, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
Cityscape paintings from Brazil has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.
Um abraço, André Koehne TALK TO ME 12:46, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
Obrigada. AnAkemie (talk) 01:17, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- @AnAkemie tudo bem? Caí na sua mensagem por acaso? Muito legal esse projeto. Você finalizou as contribuições?
Joalpe (talk) 21:49, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
AnAkemie (talk) 21:56, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Overwriting your files
[edit]- Hello Dornicke,
- I have overwriten your files related to the paintings available at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo. Generally it is advised to not do that and instead upload a new file, but you have authorized similar things before, so I felt free to do it. You also have overwriten a lot of your own files with different versions of the same painting, prioritizing quality above anything else and showing that you are more interested in providing the image with the better resolution.
- More directly, in this message you wrote:
- (translated) If the images are exactly the same work, but with better quality and resolution, I don't see any problem with overwriting my submissions. It is a very welcome initiative.
- I am sure you don't mind, but I am just sending this message as a way to be transparent and so people can understand why I am doing that. Thank you. AnAkemie (talk) 11:53, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
