Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 21:21, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Would you not agree that the above file is a duplicate of File:Richard Ansdell - The Hunted Slaves - Google Art Project.jpg? Green Giant (talk) 15:48, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hallo Green Giant, the color of both files is many differend. The Google Art Project-file has not nice colours ( its to red). --Trzęsacz (talk) 17:54, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Then perhaps redirect the Google one to your upload? Green Giant (talk) 19:07, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- How and why? --Trzęsacz (talk) 19:12, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- I don't see much point having different versions unless the artist painted two versions. Since the difference is more down to software than anything else I think we should only keep the one that is closest to the actual painting. I was intially thinking COM:DUPE might apply but the colours are different so it would probably be a regular deletion under COM:D#Redundant/bad quality. Green Giant (talk) 19:48, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- There are paintings in much double and multiple copies at Commons. But this is not a problem. Who knows exactly how the paintings look like in real life? --Trzęsacz (talk) 20:43, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough, as long as it is just two copies. However, i would appreciate it if you could put a note to link the two files so people will know that they are of the same painiting at least. Green Giant (talk) 21:38, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

For longer existing categories, we would generally use the template {{Category redirect}} rather than delete them. This allows the cats to be found in lookups. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:10, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Bonhams & dezoomify
[edit]Hello! I noticed that you uploaded some images of paintings from the Bonhams site recently. I am wondering, did you use dezoomify on these and if so, what is the base url for the images? I can't get dezoomify to work with Bonhams. Or is there another way to access the full-resolution image? Thank you for all of your uploads, they are wonderful contributions! Thanks for any help! - Hallo Laura1822, Bonhams files are not with dezoomify or other zoom-functions. You must cut the stert from the Image-Url.

Joachim Patinier
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz, I have created this subcategory with the real name of the artist (Joachim Patinier) to put together works rightly attributed to Joachim Patinier himself. A lot of works in category Patinir are not from him. It's the reason why a have created also subcategories Attribuée à Joachim Patinier (wrong or dubious attribution), Atelier de Joachim Patinier (Joachim Patinier workshop), and Disciple de Joachim Patinier (Follower of Joachim Patinier).
NB : Joachim Patinir is in fact the bad mame : it is the flemish prononciation of Patinier (« fabriquant de patins » in Wallonie).
TG 642 (talk) 07:54, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi TG 642, the right name is Patinir, see Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp nl, fr, en. So please revert your edits and if you have any references you could use Commons:Categories for discussion--Oursana (talk) 16:09, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi Trzęsacz, Well, this is a controversy : see Base de données BALaT (Belgian Art Links and Tools) : Dominique Allart, Patinier, Joachim, in Dictionnaire des peintres belges.. Also, two important works of this painter (Le baptême du Christ of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien, inv. 981 and Les tentations de saint Antoine of Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, inv. P 1615.) are signed : « IOACHIM / D. / PATINIER ».
As I told you before Patinir is the flemish (dutch) pronunciation of the wallon (french) word Patinier (maker of "patin"). Your reference in Koninklijk Museum vor Schone Kunsten is Patinir is because Antwerpen (Anvers) is a flemish city. Many referencies of this artist is Patinier : see for exemple Kunsthistorisches Museum of Wien. In fact, countries keep the easiest form of the name to use it easily with the current language they use: Patinir in UK and Spain ; Patinier in France (a widespread family name in northern part of France and in Belgium), Belgium, Austria...
This controversy is not very important (Quentin Metsys in France become Quinten Massys, Metsys, Matsijs or Massijs somewhere else); the big point here was to create a subcategory to put together media of the works realy made by Patinier/Patinir. So, if you don't like subcategory:Joachim Patinier you can change the name of it to Œuvres de l'artiste, or something like this, but please don't remove it. Thank you.
--TG 642 (talk) 08:08, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
- Different notations can be found at many old masters. But here at Commons there must be only one category. Category:Joachim Patinier is not a sub cat of Category:Joachim Patinir. It is a duplicate wit a other notation. You can rename or move categories to a other name and one is than a rederict for the other. What to whom I do not care. Maybe Commons:Categories for discussion is the right way. --Trzęsacz (talk) 09:07, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi !
First of all, please be kinder in your comments. Yes I'm sick, I have a bronchitis, thanks for asking, but I will not delete my account for this :)
I think it is better, when we have multiple pictures of the same painting, to have a category for the painting, put all categories such as Category:Paintings by Van Gogh in the Pushkin Museum or Category:Vineyards in art put on the category (since they apply to the object), and on the file, just put the category of the object and categories relevant to the file, such as Category:Google Art Project works by Vincent van Gogh (not applicable in that case).
The advantages I see :
- in Category:Paintings by Van Gogh in the Pushkin Museum for instance, the painting appears only once and not four times. It means that when you add sub-categories and files of Category:Paintings by Van Gogh in the Pushkin Museum, you have exactly the number of paintings in Commons.
- if someone find a new category applicable to the painting, they have to add it once, in Category:The_Red_Vineyard, and not in every file of Commons about the painting.
Have a nice day :) Léna (talk) 14:51, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- Apologies, but Category:The Red Vineyard is not a categorie name, it is mess. Get well soon. --Trzęsacz (talk) 21:35, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I removed Category:Boston Public Library collections from that file (along with hundreds of postcards) because it's already in a (not very clearly named) subcategory: Category:Winslow Homer wood engravings. There are subcategories for most collections, so no need for hundreds of files redundantly in the parent category. --Junkyardsparkle (talk) 19:48, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- The Category:Winslow Homer wood engravings is a single accident, with this name and by the categorization. The category should be called: Wood engravings by Winlow Homer in the Boston Public Library or better Prints by Winlow Homer in the Boston Public Library. However, there are so many pictures. That's a lot of work. Otherwise, you're right about the matter ago. I remove my remove. Greetings --Trzęsacz (talk) 20:04, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

{{PD-Art-YorckProject}}
to {{PD-Art|PD-old-auto-1923|deathyear=1918}}
and remove the link to the Yorck Project's permission statement for their scans of public domain paintings? Unless I've misunderstood something, we don't need to rely on PD-Art for these scans since we have a release for the scans from the Yorck Project. —RP88 (talk) 03:24, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- -1923 is for the USA-license. {{PD-Art-YorckProject}} is nonse / copyfraud. Greetings --Trzęsacz (talk) 03:30, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- I have no complaint with the addition PD-1923, that is fine with me. I was just curious about your removal of the {{PD-Art-YorckProject}} license. If I understand you correctly, you think the text of {{PD-Art-YorckProject}} license tag is misrepresenting the licensing details of the scans donated via Commons:10,000 paintings from Directmedia. Wouldn't the correct solution be to either fix {{PD-Art-YorckProject}} or maybe nominate it for deletion instead of removing it from individual files? —RP88 (talk) 03:42, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- This image is public domain anyway. Since the Yorck-project has nothing to do with. --Trzęsacz (talk) 03:47, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Are you saying that the source listed at File:Egon_Schiele_005.jpg is wrong? The source field says we got this scan from the Yorck Project. Is that incorrect? If we did get this image from the Yorck project and they've agreed to release their digital reproduction into the public domain, this image is PD even in legal jurisdictions where reproductions of two-dimensional public domain are copyrightable (which is not the case for PD-Art images). —RP88 (talk) 04:03, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- The source is completely true. --Trzęsacz (talk) 04:08, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Joos van Cleve
[edit]Hi there, I've noticed that you are uploading some files related to Joos van Cleve and you have tools to upgrade the image and remove watermarks. Maybe you'd be interested in modyfying and uploading the file at the following link [3]? Anscheinend Irrtum beim Datei-Upload
--Speravir (Talk) 19:26, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

- Hello Trzęsacz, thanks for uploading a version with the original colors. How did you do this? When I download a jpeg from the Rijksmuseum website the colors are usually slightly off. Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 08:03, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hallo Vincent Steenberg, both images have the same color values. But they appear different in Mozilla. On the colors I have not changed. I have transferred the background information of the smaller image into the larger image (see also exif-dada). regards --Trzęsacz (talk) 14:57, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. I didn't know this was possible. This might open new doors. Fæ, did you know about this? Vincent Steenberg (talk) 16:17, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- The question is, what is the right color. --Trzęsacz (talk) 02:54, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm assuming its the one which is less pale and less greyish. But I've stumbled onto another pair like this: File:Bacchus en Diana Rijksmuseum SK-A-17.jpeg and File:Hendrick van Balen (I) 001.jpg. The first is higher in resolution, but the second seems to have a complete color profile. I understand you're saying that its possible to transfer (part of) the metadata from the first to the second file? If you have a moment would you be willing to explain how this is done? For example, what software do I use? I've aleady tried editing the second file through "properties", but without result. Thanks. Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 07:28, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Toll, wie hast Du es angestellt, die Version im Maximalzoom herunterzuladen? Ich hatte mir das angesehen und nicht geschafft. Categories
[edit]Hi, why did you do this one? When reverting edits, you should always tell the reason. Guidelines are definied in Commons:Categories (over-categorization) and you should follow them, too. Here the painting has already own category (Category:Nude on a Blue Cushion - Amedeo Modigliani - 1963.10.46), which has been categorized further and then the file should not be in those same categories again (only in its own category). --Velma (talk) 13:13, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Definition of seascapes
[edit]Hello Trzęsacz. You have made a number of edits that add the category "Oil paintings of seascapes". Adding categories is normally a good thing, but in this case it is perhaps not necessary. On the page Category talk:Marine art I have tried to explain the categorization of marine paintings and seascapes, although I am certainly not an expert on this matter. As you can read there, it is recommended to use the "seascape" category only for paintings that primarily shows the sea. Paintings that show unspecified vessels are just "marine paintings", and paintings that show specified ships should go into the categories for those ships or ship types. It is all "marine art", but by your definition every single oil painting with water in it would seem to end up in "Oil paintings of seascapes", which appears to be redundant categorization. You may not agree, but perhaps you were not aware of these guidelines. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 05:23, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- I understand what you mean. But which pictures do you mean specifically? greetings Trzęsacz (talk) 22:52, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- I saw it on this one. The existing categories define it as an oil painting and a marine painting. I do not think it is a typical seascape, because there is a named ship in the center, and the painting is named after that ship. But that is just my personal opinion, yours may differ. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 10:07, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. This is a ship with a well-known name. But sometimes ships are also just staffage in a seascape painting, just as a figure in a landscape painting makes this not equal to a portrait painting. For example, the paintings by Max Jensen are all seascapes, the ships are only staffage. I also have a question; What is an ‚oil marine‘? greetings Trzęsacz (talk) 18:39, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- Agree on Max Jensen. It would make sense to make a subcategory of seascapes by him - with link to the main "marine" category. The "oil marine" might as well be "marine oil" paintings. It is just to specify that the work is an oil painting. A lot of the ship paintings are made in watercolour and ink and a lot others are not specified. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 20:01, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Rsteen: I don't see anything coherent in your work with Max Jensen. Laying down your ideas as if they were policy or guidelines is misleading, especially when you cant duplicate it yourself. Just more needless difussion. Cheers. Broichmore (talk) 17:07, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Broichmore: You are quite right, there is no coherent work on my part with Max Jensen, just a number of uploads. The uploads are my primary work here on Commons, and the categorization work is a distant second - and Jensen has not yet been part of that. It does not seem quite fair of you to write Laying down your ideas as if they were policy or guidelines is misleading, as there is a distinct disclaimer to my comments, with the words This is not an attempt to create policy on Commons, just a few tips to avoid cluttering of files and to prevent art from disappearing into "unexpected" categories. I felt that the tips were relevant in 2016 - and that they still are - because Commons has a steady stream of new users, who are prone to make edits that are not quite optimal, similar to those we made ourselves, when we started out. You and I may not agree on the "diffusion" part, but still, thanks for your interest. Cheers Rsteen (talk) 04:25, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Chess Game
[edit]Hello Trzęsacz, As regards your reversion of the 'Chess Game' category. I do not have any argument about the name of the painting, but am sorry that you undid all the work of organizing 4 copies of the same picture into one category, so that it is clear that they are all images of a single painting. Would you consider creating a new category, with a name that you like, and then putting the paintings into this category? with best wishes, Daderot (talk) 23:37, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Daderot, there are two different paintings (Nationalgalerie Berlin & Niedersächsisches Landesmuseum Hannover). A category name ist not anything „with a name that I like“. The paintings name are „Chess game“. Your cat name was „Chess Players by Johann Erdmann Hummel“. It would be correct then „Chess Game by Johann Erdmann Hummel“ or possibly „Chess Games by Johann Erdmann Hummel“. However, the oeuvre of Erdmann Hummel here at commons is very surly and the category is well sorted. Therefore, I find that subcategories are unnecessary. greetings --Trzęsacz (talk) 17:20, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Empty date
[edit]Hi Trz, in many of your uploads i find an empty date as for example in File:Emilie Preyer - Stillleben mit Trauben und Pfirsichen.jpg. Where does that come from? --Arnd (talk) 17:20, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- I do not know any dates for these paintings. The date template comes from my artwork description template. What is the problem with the emty dates? --Trzęsacz (talk) 23:22, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- I just try to keep the things clean here. For {{Artwork}} and other {{Information}} templates you do not lead to explicitely call the {{Date}} template because this is already done implicitely. So just add the date in the right format (ISO 8601) and it will be displayed correctly. For more complex dates there is a template called {{Complex date}}. Don't wonder when i soon delete the empty date template as mentioned above. --Arnd (talk) 11:07, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- PS: Some of your cleanup deleted dates, like this: [4]. Don't know if this you can remember other examples to repair. --Arnd (talk) 11:07, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Categories:Antonio de Simone (I) and :Antonio de Simone (II)
[edit]Hi, I am currently making a study of the de Simone family. I noticed you made these two categories, could you please tell me, why? What is the rationale behind (difference between) them? Broichmore (talk) 16:41, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Father and son; see also here. greetings --Trzęsacz (talk) 18:15, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- What are the defining differences between the two Antonios's?
- As far as I can remember, only the signature. Antonio II signs at an angle.--Trzęsacz (talk) 19:24, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- How does Tommaso fit into the family? Is he related. Is there a biography somewhere? Do you know any facts?
- Maybe this. Possibly he is the father of Antonio II. --Trzęsacz (talk) 19:59, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

- What are the defining differences between the two Antonios's?
- Apologies for being asinine! What are you saying? Antonio II is the son of Tomasso and signs on an angle. Antonio I is the grandson and signs straight. Just as a double check. Which of the Antonio's is the better painter, and who is the more prolific of the two? Best regards. Broichmore (talk) 20:27, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- For Antonio (I) is here a long artwork list with paintings of the 19tn-century. Antonio (II) painting are from early 20th-century. He painted modern steam yachts before Vesuvius.
I do not know who his father or son or grandson or what. My modest opinion is; Antonio (I) is the better painter, but everything has its value in its time. --Trzęsacz (talk) 20:39, 13 April 2018 (UTC)- Thanks for that. I've been searching the internet for two days, and not found some of the stuff you have indicated to me. Things make more sense now. I'll do some more work on this and get back to you. I would be grateful if you would check my work. Important to get this one right, I think. Broichmore (talk) 21:09, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

- I have filed whatever under the three catalog artist names. On the same topic, please take a look at this. Do you agree it's Antonio II? Front view, signed and Back view, with another signature? Broichmore (talk) 18:22, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- I think it's another artist of the same name. Antonio de Simone is very common in Italy. Look at facebook or similar. Greetings --Trzęsacz (talk) 21:38, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yes I know its very common. I am trying to find something on their family tree, without success. Do you know any detail? Wives names, actual birth and death places, brother, sister names? Anything specific? Broichmore (talk) 19:27, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
question
[edit]Hello! How can I get a full-size image from this site (Bridgman Art Library)? Your file: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:David_Teniers_(II)_-_Archduke_Leopold_Wilhelm_in_his_Picture_Gallery_at_Brussels.jpg I hope for an answer and all the best--IgorSokol (talk) 17:58, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
Overwriting artworks
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz, please don't overwrite artworks like you did at File:Eilif Peterssen - Kalle Løchen, 1885.jpg. The only acceptable overwrite case is if the same photo of the same artwork from the same source gets published with a higher resolutions. If it's not the same photo or not the same source, you should upload it under a different filename. See Commons:Overwriting existing files for more information. Thanks for your contributions, Multichill (talk) 15:13, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

The size that can be downloaded 2935x5000 pixels is a small image size in this case. Because I need a large fragment of the picture with a portrait of the emperor. I could not download a photo with the option ZOOM, where the image is larger, the download seems to be coming, but the picture does not appear. It's possible that this program (Dezoomify) can not cope with the download--IgorSokol (talk) 15:38, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

Paintings by George de Forest Brush
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz - I'm sorry if I annoyed you with my categorizations of paintings by George de Forest Brush. That was certainly not my intent, nor did I intend vandalism. Instead, I was putting multiple photographs of the same painting together in one category for a given painting. Certainly I don't feel strongly about this, and again, my apologies if I annoyed you. with best wishes, Daderot (talk) 19:15, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

What to do with superseded files
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz. I can see that you have reverted some of my edits on the file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Die_Seeschlacht_bei_Lissa.jpg I am sure you have a reason for that, and would like to hear it. As I see it, the process of superseding files saves us the trouble of applying to delete those files. There is typically nothing wrong with them apart from the fact that there is now a better file available. To avoid having the old files cluttering categories, I delete those categories from the files - but you reverted that. Why? --Rsteen (talk) 21:21, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- The file was not categorized. The suspended template does not mean anything, because the picture is linked in many Wikipedia articles. Better, you make a duplicate request. I think the links to the Wikipedias are then redirected automatically. Trzęsacz (talk) 02:21, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your swift answer. The file was still categorized, but only as "Superseded". You do not need the other categories, because they are present in the new file, linked to in the superseded one. The fact that the old file may still be used in some wikipedia articles is exactly why I think it is a better idea to supesede than to start a deletion request. Same thing for the "Duplicate" method. But if you continue to revert this kind of edits, maybe the deletion/duplicate road should be followed after all. Hope you agree that we do not want the categories cluttered with near-identical files. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 05:40, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Category:Baroque paintings
[edit]Hi, I removed the category because all the "Paintings by Jan van Goyen" are included in the category Baroque paintings, so it's better not to put a page in a category and also in a more general category. Regards,--Carlodell (talk) 19:57, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
Auction results
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz. I seem to have made an error by stating the auction result of the file File:Peder Mønsted - Lyng bakker ved Silkeborgh.jpg. Could you please point me in the direction of the policy on Commons that states that such results are not permissible? Or is it just a policy of your own? I was under the impression that any information is good information, but you - or Commons - seem to differ? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 08:01, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Trzęsacz. How diffucult can it be to make a link to the Commons policy that says "We do not want auction results in the file descriptions"? Or maybe there is no such policy? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 06:54, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Trzęsacz. After three weeks with no response it feels more safe to conclude that there is actually no policy on Commons that forbids information about auctions results. The information you removed has been restored. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 21:15, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Sortorder for Danish artists
[edit]Hi Trzęsacz. You have begun to change the sortorder for Danish artists, or at least for Carl Bøgh. You write in your edit "by sort use not special characters or special letters, only the Latin nominate form". Could you point me to the guideline that says that the w:Danish and Norwegian alphabet is not a latin alphabet, and that our sortorder is not valid? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 04:09, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Yes there is. But I have to look for it first. This is true not only for Nordic languages, but for all. Likewise for the German ä, ö, ü. For example, Dürer is always sorted Durer. Greetings Trzęsacz (talk) 04:33, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- It seems odd that a list of Danish painters can not be sorted according to our alphabet - and likewise for the other Nordic countries. But of course, it there is such a rule, it must be followed. Hope you find it soon - and thanks for some great uploads. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 04:19, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. If the rule is so hard to find, maybe we could just use the Nordic alphabets when sorting Nordic arists? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 18:33, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

I have commissioned the search but have not received a message yet.
One could also sort Russian pictures in Cyrillic, and Jewish in Hebrew and so on. But Wikimedia is an international project and English is the language that unites everything. Trzęsacz (talk) 11:04, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- The comparison with Russian and Jewish alphabets seems rather far-fetched. We are talkin about latin alphabets with the letters Æ, Ø and Å added at the end - and Commons sorts them correctly. As long as there is no explicit rule, I think you should just let us sort Nordic artists according to our alphabet. Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 11:18, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, this is not true. Trzęsacz (talk) 22:00, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. You need to be a bit more specific. If you need examples of correct sorting of nordic letters on Commons, they are available - or is it something else? Cheers --Rsteen (talk) 06:27, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

File:Karl Witkowski - Boy with Apple.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Maler Johann Seits

Size of an image
[edit]Can I ask you how you managed to get this file File:John Thomas Serres - H.M.S. Britannia passing Mt. Edgcumbe in Plymouth Sound.jpg from the source at 1.12mb in size, I can only get it at 442kb. It would help me to know how?
On the other hand the 1.12 mb version may have been withdrawn and no longer available?
Many thanks. Broichmore (talk) 16:56, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- In the past you couldn't just download Christie's pictures in large format. You had to zoom off with a special tool and then shoot them out. The MB-size of the picture was different. The download was most in PNG-Format. In the current version of Christie's I have the same as you (442kb). greeting --Trzęsacz (talk) 01:45, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
PS.: I checked my archive. I download the picture on March 21, 2016, so definitely using the old mode.- still large--Oursana (talk) 18:41, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. If ever we find a way of getting 1.12mb in size, please let me know. What was the "special tool" by the way? Broichmore (talk) 13:54, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

The "special tool" was https://zoomable-images.toolforge.org/zoomify.php?path=http://www.christies.com/lotfinderimages/d59155/d5915550&zoom=4, but now no more functionable and Pearl Crescent Page Saver Basic 2.8. --Trzęsacz (talk) 19:20, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Lucas Cranach d. Ä. - Adam and Eve (KMSKA).jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Works by Franz Bunke has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

[edit]I wonder how to download a high resolution image from this site: https://rkd.nl/images/304979 To download this high-resolution image, I was asked to register on the site. But after registration this function did not appear. It turns out to be a hoax or I didn’t understand something. Please explain if possible. IgorSokol (talk) 11:27, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- You don't have to register. Try it out, I don't do anything else Trzęsacz (talk) 01:19, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- This image of Oliver Cromwell in particular can only be downloaded in a small size. But you can download it larger at the National Portrait Gallery, London. Trzęsacz (talk) 01:25, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer.
- But there was an inscription: “to download this image in high resolution, log in as a subscriber” and I decided that registration was needed.
- When I registered and logged in, the sign disappeared.
- As for the London Portrait Gallery, there is no large increase in the image. You can get photographs, but they will be very low resolution.
- Here are some examples:
- https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portrait.php?search=ap&npgno=647&eDate=&lDate=
- https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/portrait.php?search=ap&npgno=593
- Maybe you know how to get big photos? IgorSokol (talk) 15:25, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- Copy & paste these url's into https://dezoomify.ophir.dev/ and you will have large images. Trzęsacz (talk) 18:33, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- I use dezoomify.
- But the problem is that 1500 pixels in photo height is a very low resolution. High resolution starts from 5000 pixels, and if the portrait is full-length, then twice as much.
- This museum has never done a good enlargement at all. Previously, the enlargement was 2400 pixels across the width of the photo, but when these images hit Wiki, they made the photos even smaller. IgorSokol (talk) 06:12, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
