Converting to DR and adding another photo taken with the same camera (iPhone 8 Plus). It appears that the uploader is a photographer who uses a Nikon D50 according to the EXIF of most of their uploads, but these two are taken with an iPhone. @Raffael Movieman: Are you the photographer of these two images? - Hi, King of Hearts, as mentioned before, Ilka Birkefeld is Mr Arenz' photographer (as can be seen on his website, too). The rights for the image in question are with him and the image is free. Raffael Movieman (talk) 11:56, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Raffael Movieman: In that case, Birkefeld will need to email us a Creative Commons license release for these images. Please ask him to complete the form at COM:RELGEN and send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org.

I would like to understand why you came to the conclusion that this needs to be deleted. Can you clarify what you mean by "Terrible crop"?. Do you plan to make another crop of this image? Where from? Can you show us? For what it's worth, I cleaned this in 2004, so this was probably done with what we had available at the time and there might be way better images of the same elsewhere that could replace this image. The final image on the list is of the artist presenting scaled-down versions of the drawings, also photographed in the United States. Most likely previously published on Facebook: FBMD code seen at the metadata. Proof of identity verification of the true copyright holder (the photographer) via email correspondence is required for images previously published on social media so to confirm if the uploader is indeed the photographer (the copyright holder) of this image and that the photographer (the copyright owner) has applied the license as indicated, as there have been numerous cases on Wiki before (and up to now) that the uploaders just grabbed images from Facebook or other social media sites. For email template, see COM:VRTS#Email message template for release of rights to a file. Better still, have the original overwrite this FB-derived image, if the image is truly self-photographed work of the uploader.

First, de minimis requires that the copyrighted work be such a small part of the image that if it were removed, the average viewer would not notice that it was gone. That is obviously not the case here, as the Rex is either the principal subject or a major contributor to every image. As noted above, the right to freely license images of the building is not owned by the owners of the building, but by the architect. Keeping images of the building would require a free license from the architect. As to the information plate, the text on it is certainly copyrighted. A) the copyright is owned by the writer, (B) it is owned by the writer and a second copyright is owned by the translator, or (C) there are two copyrights, owned by the two writers, whichever applies. There is no freedom of panorama in France (at least none that is acceptable for Wikimedia Commons, it's for non-commercial purposes only). The files can be restored in 2042.

It also seems to be a statue in public domain as it was donated to the people of South Dakota, its image appears on license plates, and it is honored as "a sacred statue in a sacred place". You're entirely missing the point. These are not American works, and they are copyrighted in the US because their copyright was restored there in 1996 by an American law called the URAA (Uruguay Round Agreements Act). This is mentioned at Commons:Licensing, and there's a further information page linked from there, Commons:URAA-restored copyrights. All that stuff about work for hire etc. is relevant for original US works, not for foreign works (foreign from the US perspective) that got their copyright restored by the URAA. Modern painting of unknown topic, provenance and authorship. Was previously deleted per Commons:Deletion requests/File:Battle of Diu 1509.jpg, now undeleted on the assumption that it may "probably" be the work of some artist who died in 1952. However, we still have no source for this attribution. We also have no source for its title or purported subject. The only source back when it was uploaded was some web forum, which is now a dead link; all other instances on the web seem to be Wikipedia-derived. Even if we could legitimately assume that it's PD, it's still useless in the absence of properly sourced attribution, and even if we knew that it was meant to depict that specific battle, it would still be a very poor historical representation of it; plus, it's quite a low-quality rendering of an artistically low-quality work. [edit]These are photographs (or derivatives of them) by Colombian photographer en:Leo Matiz (1917–1998). While Matiz was from Colombia, he took photos in other countries too, among them Venezuela, where photographs first published there enter the public domain 60 years after publication (the tag is {{PD-Venezuela}}). Some of the files, taken over 60 years ago in Venezuela, were uploaded with that tag.
While they were taken in Venezuela, we don't have any evidence that they were also first published there (as required by the tag, which prompts the uploader to provide publication details). So unless that evidence is given, per COM:PCP we should assume that these photos are Colombian works and therefore protected by the copyright terms of that country. In this case, 80 years pma, so until the end of 2078.
In any case, the URAA restoration date for both countries was 1 January 1996, so the photos are still protected in the US. For photos from 1958 and 1959, until the end of 2053 and 2054 respectively. So the files should be deleted. They can be restored in 2079, when their Colombian copyright will have expired, unless some are actually shown to be first published in Venezuela, which can then be restored when their US copyright has expired.

There is no freedom of panorama in Eswatini since 2018. The Central Bank building was opened in 1979,[9] so likely the year it was completed. As the architect is not immediately known, this building will fall in public domain in 2030 (50+1 years from 1979).
The source of this cropped image is excluded since it started hosting on Wikimedia Commons in 2015. The 2018 copyright law is not retroactive. - Delete The organisation is listed as a registered UK company and charity, so the claim that this logo was created by Portsmouth Council has no supporting evidence. The name of the organisation appears to stem from an appeal for funding in 1936 by the Lord Mayor of that time. Portsmouth council claims to have one council member on the organisation's board but otherwise states that it has no responsibility for the organisation. We can therefore rule out any sort of issues with crown copyright or other official government licensing. The image also appears to be above the threshold of originality for UK works, as the stylised crown is far too detailed to qualify as a basic geometric shape. - Delete, and furthermore probably delete the user's other uploads as well (or potentially migrate to English Wikipedia and replace with fair use claims). User has made quite a few uploads of Broadway-related images, which was surely in good faith but should have been done under fair use rationales instead on en wiki and without bogus claims of "own work." I do not believe that uploader is some sort of prolific broadway photographer unable to explain who they were and how they took all these pictures of various Broadway stuff. - @Ikan Kekek, thanks for your kind observation. These images are over 50 years old and are now PD according to Copyright - "Cinematograph films and photographs. 50 years after the end of the year in which the work was first published.[C.28/2004 1st Sched]" law in Nigeria.

Furthermore, ascertaining the date and author of the photos has been a bit difficult due to the fact I currently don't have access to physical photos/out of reach at the moment to enable me to scan for more details about the author and date of publications.
