The display of the image on Wikimedia Commons violates Commons:Photographs of identifiable people in that the presentation is likely to be in violation of personality rights in the country of origin. While Wikimedia Commons does not normally practice any preemptive deletion of such images, this practice does not apply to this case as we were notified by the subject of the image that he does not comply with any public display (ticket:2012082210003776). Note that due to the fact that the image undeniably contains intimate imagery this complaint is valid regardless of his identifiability, c.f. BGH GRUR 1975, 561, 563, as well as a number of commentaries on personality rights, see, inter alia, Dreier in Dreier/Schulze, 3rd ed. 2008, § 22 KUG (6). - My source is the fact that different versions of the Ghanaian arms have been deleted time after time here on Commons as copyright violations. Do you have a source for this file showing that it's PD? Or is it, as I believe, the same file that was deleted not too long ago, and moved up to English Wikipedia as non-free? - No, it's not a logo. But I would guess that it is {{PD-ineligible}} due to en:Lotus Dev. Corp. v. Borland Int'l, Inc., which says that you can't copyright the layout of computer software menus. The internet page listed as source does not contain an easy-to-find declaration that photos taken from there are CC-licensed. It is possible that I overlooked something, it is also possible that the author uploaded the photo there in parallel to Commons, thus is in fact the author. However, this has to be checked. - Hi! I am Adrian Pingstone and I took the photo of the walrus. I bought it at a Gem Show in Cheltenham, England. It was carved in India but I have no way of knowing who the carver was. - A derivative work is when one makes a work (e.g., a photo) that is derived from an existing work (e.g., a sculpture). These are problematic because the derivative photo consequently contains two copyrights (the photographer's and the sculpture's); to license the photo freely requires the permission of both copyright holders, thus the deletion nomination as we lack the sculpture's permission - see COM:DW for elaboration. - Crazy! An unknown sculptor, in an unknown place in India, at an unknown date, carves an animal. I buy it at an English gem fair and photograph it. I then go to a good deal of effort to put it on Wikipedia for others to enjoy (I know people have enjoyed it because I have had positive comments about it on my Talk Page). Hello, the photographer was another member of the former GDR Olympics Team. One of the Persons in the Picture is my grandfather, he gave his camera to friend who took the picture of him. As obvious from the description page on eBay (but sadly not at all obvious from the description page on Commons), the photo was created by photographer Kryszak for Detroit News newspaper. It's unknown if it was distributed in 1975 or had been kept in the newspaper's archives for years. It's also possible that it was published by Detroit News with a copyright notice. I think this means that the building itself is OK, but the modern sculpture in front of the building as well as the 2D art on the sides of the building are only acceptable if their use is de minimis (relevant Danish law is section 24 of the copyright law, in English translation: "Works of art may be reproduced in pictorial form and then made available to the public if they are permanently situated in a public place or road. The photo of Baha'u'llah can be viewed by pilgrims once they have prepared themselves. To be suddenly presented with an image that claims to be that of Baha'u'llah is extremely disquieting in a way that may be hard for others to understand. Please see what can be done to prevent these images from being used indiscriminately on the Wiki sites. It seems that one user has tried to disseminate as many images claiming to be of Baha'u'llah as possible. I would like to bring this to the attention of the Administrators of Wikipedia Commons. And request that you consult widely and consider the merits of removing these images which cause so much distress when seen by members of the Baha'i community. - This is a cropped image that was removed from one of my user pages at Wikiquote by this anon IP without any consultation of myself. It had been used for years on that rather obscure user page, and I do not know if others might find useful and relevant, or where else it might have been removed from in order to make it seem that this image had not been used. Some interfaces are clearly too simple to be covered by copyright. I know Vanessa (the person I posted about) and I know that 4 of the 6 photos were taken by a family member and the 2 "professional"photos were taken by friends of whom gave her copyrights to use them. Please, help me understand what I can do to help this matter, I do not want to get marked as a person who does not follow copyrights.
