Out of scope: this AI-generated image doesn't represent homophobia in any meaningful way. (It doesn't help that the symbol used represents a transgender or non-binary identity, not homosexuality.) Omphalographer (talk) 00:27, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Out of scope: unused AI-generated image. This looks like it was an attempt to get Dall-E to generate an image of a specific type of plant based on a description; this isn't an appropriate or effective way of creating illustrations. Omphalographer (talk) 00:41, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Out of scope: Not relistically useful for educational purposes. Just another picture of a girl and a not very good one at that - is it AI generated? Strange pixelations and distortions. Headlock0225 (talk) 00:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Looks like a print photo that someone's scanned and (crudely) inserted into the winter background - the subject's torso abruptly cuts off near the bottom of the image, and there's some weird color fringing around their hair. Not useful, especially since the subject isn't clearly identified. Omphalographer (talk) 01:56, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Low resolution ("400 × 260 pixels") for a 2023 upload. The uploader should explain why this is in low resolution (and if their original copy still exists, upload a larger-resolution image) – if this is really their self-photographed image. If the author is unknown who sent a mail to VRTS? 186.175.47.6 01:20, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my apologies! The photo was taken by Ian Buosi, a Brazilian photographer. I misunderstood the difference between the author and the copyright holder, so I didn’t clarify this initially. Uriel holds the copyright for the photo and distributed it on his website, where it states the photo can be redistributed freely. That’s why I reached out to him and asked if it could be uploaded on Wikimedia. ~ JoshuaArmitage (talk) 01:33, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Small, useless and does not add significantly to our collection under Category:Kurt Gödel (assuming that I correctly identified the depicted person). Additionally, wrong format (PDF instead of JPG / PNG or similar). Grand-Duc (talk) 02:25, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Weak keep; en:Draft:DR. Zaverbhai H. Patel indicates that it's a different person. Marginally COM:INUSE, for now. Omphalographer (talk) 04:53, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That seems like a serious draft, unlike many we've seen. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:27, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I concur: this seems a valid WIP for a personage that could even pass across the threshold of the notoriously strict German WP criteria for encyclopaedic notability (wasn't visible when I opened the DR, hence my misidentification). But now, I fear we're running into copyright issues: I found a source indicating that the image was taken in 1931 in the US. Help:Public domain seems to indicate that {{PD-US-not renewed}} or {{PD-US-no notice}} could be applicable, but I do not have enough confidence in my knowledge to say so for sure. Any input by others? Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 08:24, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No COM:FOP Indonesia and, according to the description, artwork is not "own work" (description translates as "A collection of students' work in the form of paintings and several handicrafts" with Google) Grand-Duc (talk) 02:32, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for the responds. this is one of the collection from the museum. this collection from students competition held by Musuem Pong Tiku and the committe keep it as collection in Museum. Silentwinner (talk) 02:40, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Silentwinner, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but that would mean that every student whose art is shown needs to send permission to the COM:VRT. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:31, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Based the information that I got from The head of the Musuem Said that they already made an agreement with the students for keeping the handcraft as a collection of the museum after the competition. But, if that is a problem for Image license I don`t mind if the picture should be take down.
My Regards Silentwinner (talk) 05:05, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The way licensing works on this site is that the copyright-holders have to give permission for anything that is not in the public domain. In this case, that means you, who took the photo, and the students, who made the artworks. Of course I would trust the museum head, but their say-so would be hearsay and I doubt it would satisfy the COM:VRT. Have a look at COM:Licensing. Could you possibly contact the students in question? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:26, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No COM:FOP Indonesia and, according to the description, artwork is not "own work" (description translated with Google points to some art collection) Grand-Duc (talk) 02:33, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The explanatory sign is IMHO not COM:De Minimis as it is not an incidental inclusion and adds value to the image (I assume that it explains the artifact). COM:TOO Indonesia is low, so the text on the sign may be protected; there's no provision in COM:FOP Indonesia that would allow us to keep the still. Grand-Duc (talk) 02:36, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It does explain. My rough translation: "Used as a place [maybe better, storage] for drinking water. Used when going to the rice paddy or garden." If that's no good to include, should we crop the photo above the note? I don't think such simple text is copyrightable, so it should be OK that it's copied to the file description line, but the photo on the note could be. All of this is assuming that there's no copyright problem with the photo itself, and since there are no matches on TinEye and no exact matches on Google Lens, I think we should assume that unless someone finds it on the museum's site, anyway. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:26, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Similar case to 01.jpg, except that it's easier to crop out the instructional panel. Again, I think the explanation in it is probably uncopyrightable, so it should be OK that it's copied to the file description line. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:29, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BMacZero a good catch! The resource can be used for additional information at w:en:Freedom of panorama#United States. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 04:08, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I felt best to add this information to w:en:Photography and the law#Public art and architecture in the United States, since w:en:Freedom of panorama#United States is more focused on the rationale, existing cases, and reception (supporters and opponents of U.S. architectural FoP). JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:53, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Delete, FoP for public monuments does not exist in the so-called "Land of the Free" (U.S.A.). The online source BMacZero gave further strengthens the lack of such freedom even to monuments that are considered as part of the national culture and historical heritage of the United States. These monuments should be removed from Wikimedia Commons, until their copyright expires or (if this is possible) a major reform in the U.S. law occurs to finally introduce complete FoP in the "Land of the Free", inclusive of 3D works like monuments. Uploaders should not use Flickr or Instagram as defenses to keep the images; both platforms routinely ignore FoP infractions by their users, which is not OK here. Remember, small and without (sufficient) metadata are not deletion reasons per se per COM:DR, so you should give a different reason. And yes, an author is given - precisely "Own work." You might argue that it's unlikely a random uploader on Commons took their own photo of a president and limited it to a size that was probably downloaded from a site (that would be my argument, with the very short metadata as supporting evidence, just as envisioned on COM:DR), but be a little careful to avoid deletion reasons specifically stated to be insufficient on the deletion requests page, even though "Deleted per nomination" or "Already deleted by X" are likely (though careless) closing remarks. I won't repeat this for your other deletion request below, but I believe in taking site guidelines and policies seriously even when others don't. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:08, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible that some of these are free (I found File:Adult Woman in Casino.jpg on PixaBay and Adeletron 3030 found File:Las vegas-Marque.jpg on Commons), but I don't think it's worth the effort of working out whether they actually are.
