There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Image Tagging Image:Turkish_battleship_Mesudiye.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Turkish_battleship_Mesudiye.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. abf /talk to me/ 08:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
When nominating many images for the same reason, please do a group nomination. This saves effort for all involved. Thanks. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:45, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that the cases are all the same here. Or that it always is easier. Bundled nominations can be messy to comment on, and to close, since it's not always clear which of the nominated items comments apply to. But I'll certainly keep it in mind. Thanks, Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:21, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
List of bot-uploaded Geograph.org.uk images
Hi, sorry, I didn't see your message until right now...
- There are 196 images that link to http://www.geograph.co.uk, but none of these were uploaded with my bot.
- There are about 8000 images using Geograph. I am currently trying to filter those that were uploaded through my bot, but the DB query keeps dying on me. --Magnus Manske (talk) 23:35, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Bot/tool to add location?
Are you aware of any tool that makes it easy to add locations to pics, especially those transferred from geograph? I see you have added locations to the files I have migrated from en.wikipedia, for which I thank you, and I'd do it myself if there was an easier way than going on to each geograph's page in turn and manually transferring the data. --TimTay (talk) 12:42, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Geograph Geocodes
Hi. Thanks for picking up on some of the geograph images, but if there's a Location tag there, could you leave it please? The geocodes on geograph are almost never right, and any I've actually bothered to geocode are the correct ones. The ones not geocoded I just haven't got to yet - I'm mired in Bristol Parkway railway station. Thanks. -mattbuck (Talk) 23:12, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and generally thanks for deleting the transwikied images fron en.wp. -mattbuck (Talk) 23:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- No bother. Did I overwrite one? I usually manage to avoid that. Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:35, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Only one, so no problem. It made me get off my ass and code the other ones as well before I forget which they are ;) -mattbuck (Talk) 23:54, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds reasonable, but I was banned from en.wp once (3RR), and am apparently at fault for almost killing the Ffestiniog Railway wikiproject (or they'd have me believe that) by moving images to commons. -mattbuck (Talk) 22:40, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, from what I've heard, one year is still recent enough for people to deny an rfa. As for the FR project, see Talk:Ffestiniog_Railway#An_apology (ok, not a wikiproject) - in short I transwikied images and tagged some for deletion and because I edited an article I "terminally demotivated" someone, and then got accused of waging a crusade against the FR. In the mean time I added some 300-500 photos of the FR to commons. Go figure. -mattbuck (Talk) 23:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Good day. As a result of your request at Commons talk:Flickr images/reviewers, I have added you to the reviewers list. Painting Cropping
Hallo, painting cropping is easy with the freeware Irfanview and Perspective Transformations. Switch the drop done line to rectangle and you can correct the paintings. Afterwards cropping can be done with Irfan itself. --Marku1988 (talk) 15:22, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Flickr review explanation
Hi, I saw you review two of my images that I uploaded from Flickr: Image:Torpoint Ferry.jpg and Image:Derriford Hospital from field.jpg. You expressed in the edit summaries that you didn't know why the bot didn't pick them up, because they had the same dimensions. I think the reason why is because I changed the colour settings on the image, which is allowed on the licenses. EvP (talk) 12:51, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Could you also post this image onto this discussion. EvP (talk) 12:56, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Scroby Sands Wind Farm
Hello, you described File:Wind Turbines.jpg as depicting the en:Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. However, that wind farm was not built at the photo's date - and won't be until 2011. Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 07:06, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:Joan Guzmán.jpg
This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Joan Guzmán.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

artworks by Erik Heyl
I have added my rationale to all the deletion discussions, hopefully they will be accepted. My thinking here is the fact that the download pages for those artworks all contain the line "To the best of our knowledge, the pictures referenced here are all in the Public Domain, and can therefore be freely downloaded and used for any purpose."
Please feel free to leave a comment on my talk page if you have an questions or comments. Thanks Bonewah (talk) 21:05, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
PNG is inappropriate for photographs
I hope you have now stopped uploading photographs in PNG format - eg. File:Holme Lacy railway station 1.png. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 00:00, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
- Probably not. I didn't even register that it wasn't a jpeg, which Geograph images always are. I think it will be a safe bet that it is not unique. Anything that was in png format on enwp will be in png format here. My slightly-better-than-cursory search finds the following which haven't already been tagged as available in jpeg: File:Ballykelly village.png, File:Ballyclare.png, File:Stewartstown.png, File:DungannonSE.png, File:Larne Harbour from Inver.png. I'll reupload those in jpeg later in the week. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:20, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
I have uploaded File:Dungannon from SE 258959.jpg. I will leave you to upload a cropped version as a JPEG. All the others have been replaced - indeed two have been deleted within the last hour! — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 21:23, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
