Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and or licensing of this particular file. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? Thank you. --Please link images
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate category and optionally place the images on topic pages (galleries), or do both (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. --Panther 14:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Guaiacolsulfonate.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |
PS: If you have uploaded an image with a wrong name and you uploaded the same file again with a correct name, you can use Image:name of other file.ext. If it wasn't you that uploaded the duplicate file, you can use Image:name of other file.ext. --Deadstar 13:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Biphenyl-molecule.png
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Biphenyl-molecule.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. The quality of the chemical structure Image:Retrosynthetic analysis of phenylacetic acid.gif is disputed
[edit]Dispute notification | The chemical structure Image:Retrosynthetic analysis of phenylacetic acid.gif you uploaded has been tagged as and is now listed in Category:Low quality chemical diagrams. Images in this category might be deleted after one month if there is no upload of an improved version, if there is no objection from the uploader or other users and if a better version exists. Please discuss on the image talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload an improved version or simply allow the image to be deleted.
In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Leyo 01:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC) |
To reply to your statement here: You are right that it is time consuming to draw reaction schemes. My main point is the fact that they are GIF images. If I am opening an article I normally can tell if a structural formula or a reaction schema is GIF or not without checking it. I have often made the experience that they look poor (especially if they are not shown in the original size), even if they are drawn in an acceptable resolution and quality because of the inappropriate file format. What about exchanging low quality chem with chemical? IMHO the intention/need to replace images with the former template is stronger. But if you prefer, you can also just remove the template. --Leyo 19:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I understand perfectly what you mean. I don't feel upset, don't worry. Similarly, I usually can identify SVGs because the lines look too thin, even when everything else is perfect... It's okay, leave these warnings on but please don't delete them seeing as they are still in use. One day I'll come by and fix all of them. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 04:28, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply and not being upset. :-) What you say for SVG is true for some, but IMHO not for those recently created by power-uploaders. --Leyo 12:21, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello,
before getting into an edit war I'd just like to ask the reason for reverting my edit, i.e. why do you think the aforementioned image should not be in SVG format instead of PNG? It is currently in raster image form and it consists solely of simple shapes and lines that are better done using vector graphics.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 00:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Categorization
[edit]Hallo Rifleman,
I know that categorization is not fun for everyone, but could you please not add non-existing categories to pictures, like you did here: [1], [2], [3]. This makes the pictures unfindable via categories. Also if you don't want to find the best category, you can just add query chemical. Cheers --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 09:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about that, I was going through a lot of them, and I hit "enter" assuming that they existed, without checking if they indeed were. I'll be more careful next time. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 11:37, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

Copyright status: File:3,5-Di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde powder from crystals.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:3,5-Di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde powder from crystals.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File source is not properly indicated: File:Singapore Parliament House.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Singapore Parliament House.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
:File:Singapore Parliament House.jpg ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

PLEASE SHORTEN A BLOCK
[edit]I am assuming you are aware of the three-month block you placed on me for not allowing wikipedia editing. Would you mind shortening that to 2 weeks, or possibly 1 month?? Perhaps you may have meant 3 weeks, or even tried to use this block as a punishment. I have read the blocking policy twice and it says specifically:
- DO NOT USE BLOCKS AS PUNISHMENTS!.
at LEAST will you please, ever so kindly, LIFT THE BLOCK ON MY ACCOUNT, Dy11111?

You left a note on my talk page asking to be unblocked, and at that point, I was open to it. You claim that you had learned your lesson, and I asked you to explain. You did not respond, but proceeded to edit using IP addresses. Since your IP edits were attempts to evade your username's block, the IPs were accordingly blocked.
So, if you would like to request to be unblocked, you can log in to your account and we can discuss it on your talk page. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 05:30, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. |

This image and filename are not consistent with each other...the diagram has 4 ethyls and 2 chloros, en:diethylaluminium chloride, not 3 Et + 3 Cl of en:ethylaluminium sesquichloride. DMacks (talk) 14:24, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll have it deleted. Smokefoot has a correct image up now. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 14:39, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
And also:
Hi Rifleman 82. Your files listed above are in Category:Chemical images that should use vector graphics. Could you please check, if the tag may be removed (in the case of high resolution PNGs), if there is already an SVG version, or if you consider uploading an updated version of higher resolution/quality on top of the old? Thank you. Leyo 13:45, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
