I make a lot of rename requests (more than a hundred successful rename requests), mostly with Criterion 2 of the renaming policy, i.e, change from meaningless names to proper, descriptive names. I feel I would be able to do the work much faster if I am given this ability. They are justified as per the policy and as the above banner states, "a large amount of justified renaming requests at the Commons", I think I fit into that. Thank you. I check broken links to files on fr.wp, and often find small mistakes in file names via this chore. Requesting a renaming is easy enough, but it would be just simpler for everyone if I got the filemover right. To do the backlog last year, I requested (and got) a temp adminship here, but the filemover right is the only one I really could use (anyway I don't want to bother with more on a permanent basis). None. I can wait a year or more and ask again. Or I could invest time here I would then not spend on fr.wp just to get the right number of edits. I just don't see why. I won't be more (or less) fit for this in a year or two than I am now. Giving me the right would just be that much less work for current filemovers. Not giving me the right isn't really a bother for me, either, since the tool to request a renaming is quite easy to use. I'm just not a big fan of explaining each time why I'm requesting a renaming when one is first refused (like there or there), but then it's not that often an issue. Josef Grieshuber (image donation)

This is the account for a big image donation (~500 picture up to now, ~15000 coming), used by User:MichaelSchoenitzer and Josef Grieshuber himself. It is used to upload the butterfly images of Josef Grieshuber. In the mean time, Josef found some errors and also the taxonomy has changed for some of the specimen, we would like to fix those. Therefore we would like to get renaming rights. They wont be used outside of this scope and only for the pictures of this collection. Thank you. I am an administrator on Wikipedia, Wiktionary, and Wikiquote with substantial experience moving pages on those projects. I have been contributing to Commons for nine years, and have about 7,000 edits, and 1,300 uploads, including a large number of files transferred from Wikipedia. I have also made several hundred requests for files to be moved, all of which have been carried out. I would like to use the filemover right for a few very specific projects. First, in my wayward youth I was not always as careful with file naming as I am today, and consequently have uploaded a number of files with inconsistencies in their naming scheme that I would like to fix. Second, I transfer a lot of files over from Wikipedia, and occasionally find that a transferred files should be renamed to match an existing naming scheme for related files already on Commons. Third, I have found that there are several hundred files with utterly meaningless two-letter and three-letter names like File:Ic.jpg, File:OT.JPG, File:Qv.jpg, File:YP.jpg, File:Zop.png, and so on, and would like to make a project of improving these titles. For example I have found today this Category which need some move to respect reason 3 and 4 of the rule for file move. I have more than 3700 edits and almost uploads 1500 here and am bureaucrat on Wikivoyage/de,en and it. Due to lack of time i would not work as admin here. But I have been focussing on uploading pictures of religious sites in Southeast Asia right now including improving the categroy structure (different naming conventions are used, lack of WD objects and positions). Having done some 30.000 edits on Commons (almost all concerning aviation/aircraft subjects), I have noticed that many file names contain obviously wrong aircraft designations. Mostly the individual variant (or series) is incorrect, but even the wrong type name has been chosen occasionally.
An even bigger number of aircraft files carry a meaningless or ambiguous name, like "DSC 1234567". In my opinion, those should be replaced (after careful evaluation) by at least the type name, possibly operator name and registration as well.

I upload a lot of files to Commons, many of them self-created such as medal ribbons. Sometimes, as a result of finger trouble (my own) it happens that a file gets uploaded before I've done a final check on the filename to remove stuff like sorting codes or naming errors. I also frequently come across incorrectly named files of other users. Rather than always having to request a file mover to fix my own mistakes or those of other users that I come across, I'd like to be able to do it myself. The subjects I frequently work with usually have to do with South African railway locomotives, medals and decorations, and South African subjects in general. Thank you. I am posting quite a lot of renaming requests. Recently I started going over several long lists of poorly named images with names in Hebrew, such as Special:PrefixIndex/File:אבישי (with the name of the photographer instead of description of the subject) and Special:PrefixIndex/File:תמונה (which simply means "picture"), and there are still a lot of items there. Almost all of them were performed, and I can recall only one case in which there was a minor mistake on my side, which I fixed, and that one was performed as well. I have noticed that when users upload images from Flickr (or even on their own) they often stay with the automatically generated images (just as an example, File:DNx9krDB2Zg.jpg, and it would be extremely tedious to perform all the taggings manually.
