Looking to deal with some issues related to Foundation templates and past staff edits. Currently possess these rights on my volunteer account, but want to differentiate this work-related editing. Thank you. Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 23:31, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GVarnum-WMF ✓ Done. ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:59, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAafi - wonderful - thank you! Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 19:51, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking to move some longer-term efforts to bot after some testing in AWB and working on harder fringe cases to sort out some processes for something more bot-oriented. Thank you. Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 09:18, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GVarnum-WMF: ✓ Done Please make sure to review Commons:Bots before getting started. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 21:24, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to re-license my photographs of technical devices from CC-by-SA to more lenient CC-by. (The “SA” part does not really change anything (what derivative works can be made of such photos?) and is impossible to enforce in practice.) I was using AWB for a while at Wikia (now Fandom) in 2013. Throughout the years, I've been using PyWikiBot (called PyWikipedia back when I started) and my own custom scripts. Drogosław (talk) 13:06, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Drogosław, the easiest way to do that would probably be to use Help:VisualFileChange.js with the custom replace option. Since it can take a while for requests for rights to get processed (the admins are stretched very thin overall and only a few work in this area), I'd recommend starting there. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 01:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Category:US National Archives series: "Airscapes" of American and Foreign Areas contains ~10,000 images which have "1917 – 1964" as date=* in their information template - only the general range the images were made in. I would like to change this to the exact date of the image. The exact dates are almost always part of the scanned image. Also, many images are tagged with author=unknown, but the name of the author is stated on the scan. AWB would be perfect for this task. Thank you. TheImaCow (talk) 21:02, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Granted. Happy editing and please be careful! --Achim55 (talk) 20:02, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I regularly edit templates here and on en.wp and have on Template:Temporary Exhibition promised to deprecate the string sanitization I implemented last year. I'd like to work a script for that, and I'd like to do it myself rather than request a bot since I plan to do more work on smaller templates here. I used AWB a little on en.wp several years ago prior to permissions requirements. Thank you. SamuelRiv (talk) 18:46, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I occasionally come across categories that could use diffusion, usually alongside my work on Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia (my home project). An example is Category:Light novels, which currently contains categories that would be a better fit for a "by title" category (already present) or files that would be better in a "Light novel logos" category, but that also have categories and files that require a manual overview to avoid miscategorization. I wish to not bother other users with such a task (due to the necessary manual overview), and I request access to AWB rights on Commons for these types of uncontroversial recategorizations. I am already somewhat familiar with using AWB on Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia, where I also mainly use it for recategorization. It is a tool I only occasionally use, and I don't expect it to be a tool of frequent use on Commons, either, but that would be useful nonetheless when using HotCat becomes a bit too tedious, as my time could be used more productively. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your consideration! EdoAug (talk) 02:46, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I occasionally mass-diffuse categories by year, and VFC is tedious to use because I have to close and reopen it for each year. Thank you. Queen of Hearts (talk) 02:51, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I would like to have access to the AutoWikiBrowser tool here to make small improvements to the descriptions of files I upload. For a long time this tool was completely useless to me, considering that VisualFileChange already works in a practically identical way, but after having an experience with AWB on the English Wikipedia and Wiktionary, I noticed that it is more practical, safer and therefore better. Thank you, RodRabelo7 (talk) 08:46, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to use AWB to perform genfixes on files and the files I post. I have AWB permission on enwiki and patroller rights here on Commons. Thank you. --Takipoint123 (💬) 22:38, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Low edit count on Commons concerns me. Could you please give some examples of the edits you want to make using AWB? Iwaqarhashmi (talk) 16:14, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I am planning to use AWB for genfixes and syntax errors (e.g. missing brackets etc) which AWB makes it a lot easier to catch. I will likely not use it to change categories yet, which I know can be controversial. Takipoint123 (💬) 20:51, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to depopulate the categories Category:Categories requiring permanent diffusion, Category:Categories requiring permanent diffusion to zero, and Category:Categories requiring temporary diffusion as a result of the category discussion Commons:Categories for discussion/2020/01/Category:Categories requiring diffusion. Since the process will take time with manual edits, I want to have a brief access to AWB to speed up the process. Thank you. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribsuploads) 06:57, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to make a lot of tedious edits involving categories, so being able to use AWB would be very useful. I have AWB permission on enwiki (verify), if that helps. Suntooooth (talk) 02:07, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking to add categories to a disparate batch of files I've collected through Petscan, and AWB access would be a generally useful tool for me to have. I already use it regularly on enwiki. Thank you. Belbury (talk) 17:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Belbury: It's great you have AWB access on enwiki, but I wonder if you have tried using Cat-a-lot for this. Iwaqarhashmi (talk) 18:05, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have Cat-a-lot enabled, but can't see a way to give it a text list of filenames as input.
Consider this a general request, though. I'd like to have the option to use AWB here and am familiar with how it works. Belbury (talk) 18:13, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
