My Work
I am currently a Senior Strategist in the Wikimedia Foundation's Communications Department. In this role, I work on a variety of activities generally related to corporate communications and community communications development. That includes communications with the community on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation and supporting volunteers and Wikimedia entities with their communications activities.
Previously, I worked on the implementation of the Access to nonpublic information policy and helped volunteers with signing the Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information.
I also work on other tasks and projects as requested by the Wikimedia Foundation.About Me

I have had an account on Wikimedia projects (starting with English Wikipedia) since December 2006 as Varnent. In addition to content editing, I have volunteered as a MediaWiki extension developer, member of the Affiliations Committee, member of the Wikimania Program Committee (2012, 2013, 2014, & 2015), volunteer coordinator of the 2015 Wikimedia Foundation Elections, OTRS volunteer, co-founder and advisor of the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, and various other activities and projects.
In my offline world, I have worked as a professional LGBTQ advocate, communications point person, policy wonk, tech nerd, nonprofit capacity building geek, and project coordinator. In late 2010, I founded and began development on WikiQueer, a Wikipedia style project for the LGBTQ communities. Beyond work and wikis, I enjoy video games, kayaking, photography, roller coasters, and movies.
