- strong support Fascinating flare exploding at 0:22 min:sec of this incredibly fast motion video. The dimensions are mind-boggling: this flare rises to 10% of the sun's diameter, i. e. 70,000 km or even more, depending on the viewing angle. This video provides a flurry of information about our companion star, condensed to a very palatable duration of only 43 seconds. LIKE. --Franz van Duns (talk) 12:55, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

- strong support As a mathematically interested person who can fathom the equations that lead to the creation of such and similar images I am, of course, highly impressed by this computer-generated flight video. The extremely smooth space-like flight manouvers within this virtual construct make you unnoticeably hold your breath for almost the full four minutes this video lasts until darkness sets in and the virtual world slowly fades away. It rekindled images of 2001: A Space Odyssey". Well done!
Only one Caveat: No sound on my Windows 10 computer! Audio, in contrast, works with all the other videos I have tried. Nope, haven't found a solution yet, but I will persevere. --Franz van Duns (talk) 20:20, 22 July 2019 (UTC) - @Franz van Duns: I extracted the sound from this video for Wikimedia Commons so that here are no potential copyright violations. The title has been the same, so that it can be found on YouTube. So your hardware works fine :). You can find the video with music here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnQCq65C1PI.

- Oppose the preview thumbnail looks cool, but that that's about it. It's basically just two views of the place that could be expressed much better through two separate still images – that little bit of movement doesn't really bring anything new to the table. ground level images suggest that the paths in the park are more of a neutral grey rather than the milky green we see here, so I suspect that the color balance is somewhat off as well. --El Grafo (talk) 09:54, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose on technical terms This video is one single, very smooth take, just the kind I love. I agree per User:Eatcha "a fine, educational video".
But the continous shaking is very, very disturbing, thus, sorry, I vote for "oppose".
Videos nominated as Featured Videos must meet all the "Featured video criteria" stated at the top of this page, and, IMHO near perfect stability is mandatory except in the most demanding situations.
I haven't attempted to reduce video shake myself yet and even after an extensive web search I have just executed I did not find any freeware software product that proposes to reliably remove shake. But, this product-based video (by the self-named CyberLink University) very nicely explains what modern software (dated 2018) can achieve:
Just copy the link to the browser of your liking and remove the spaces following "https://":

Addendum: I deliberately mutilated the above link to avoid breaking any internal wiki commons regulations concerning usage of external links. Even Wiki Help is somewhat vague in this respect. -- Franz van Duns (talk) 12:50, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

- Comment - Is there no version without a destructive watermark? I appreciate that someone has gone in to blur it, but it would be even better without a big blurry rectangle in the bottom-right. :) — Rhododendrites talk | 18:54, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment It seems the original is tinted. — Racconish 💬 06:35, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose on technical grounds. I can easily forgive all the little blemishes that come from analog film. It's the digital representation that's bugging me, which is fairly low quality and full of digital artifacts. Pixelization along straight lines is the easiest to spot and distinguish from film grain, and it certainly doesn't help that it's been through Youtube. Even that might be forgiven, but that blurry patch in the lower right corner where the FilmoTeca logo used to be is a deal breaker for me. Finally, I don't know what kind of film was used here, but given 35mm was standard by 1921, the resolution (pixel count) this was digitized at also seems to be quite low. --El Grafo (talk) 11:05, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose Sorry, but this doesn't really do it for me. A nice event, but the video is tilted, the sound seems muffled, and all of the action is in the bottom-right corner (left third of the frame is the backs of two people and a blown out sky). I've learned that parades, demonstrations, marches, etc. are extremely difficult to get clean documentation of, so I empathize, but I just don't see featured-level content here. — Rhododendrites talk | 18:49, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Per Rhododendrites, I know it's difficult to find a decent POV for live action but I think two steps to the right would have helped. Good, but falls short of "Featured", which is supposed to be our "Very Best".Rodhullandemu (talk) 21:23, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment "two steps to the right" is nonsense. When I chose the position, the place was empty. Even If I had chosen another position, sooner or later someone would have stepped into the picture. Most of my other videos where made without a tripod, but that excludes them from FV. --C.Suthorn (talk) 22:07, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
- Then I'm afraid the woman in the t-shirt may unwittingly deprive you of a featured video. Happens to me all the time. I've waited up to 25 minutes for people to move out of the way, but agreed, for a static shot. Otherwise, I just give up and come back another day, or suffer a lower quality image. Not much help for a one-off event, I know, but sometimes life just sucks. Rodhullandemu (talk) 22:37, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
