Excuse me, this is NOT an advertisement: this pipe is even forbidden in Flanders in Belgium since 1998! Out of scope: an enormous, indiscriminate collection of unused, undescribed, and largely uncategorized or miscategorized nighttime photos of streets, buildings, parking lots, and building interiors in the Los Angeles region. A few of the photos are of posters or advertisements containing copyrighted images; most are just dark suburban streets.

Full disclosure: I haven't reviewed all of these images in detail; there's simply too many of them. But most of them are simply unremarkable, and they're all taken at night with a cell phone, so the image quality is fairly low, and there's just no educational use for most of these. Please let me know if there's anything that looks potentially usable in here.

If we start mass deleting here we also would need to delete much more. Many of the files could be useful if identified and are also easily identifiable for people with local knowledge. The problem here is that the vast majority of these photos aren't of anything in particular; even if we knew where they were taken, there just isn't anything meaningful in frame to identify. Picking five at random:

Enough is enough. None of these photos are described in any kind of useful fashion (the description for all is simply the name of a city, like "Rancho Cucamonga" or "Ontario"), and none have geotags to allow them to be identified without substantial sleuthing (like I did in the nomination linked above). Freedom of Panorama has been abolished in Nigeria since March 17, 2023; this Wiki Loves Africa-related upload dates to April 30, 2023. The statue depicts w:en:Moshood Abiola who died in 1998. The year claimed on the tarpaulin at the bottom is "2023", so the statue is obviously recent and still under sculptor's copyright. This commercially-licensed image infringes that copyright, considering the Nigerian copyright law no longer allowing FoP for photos since March 17, 2023. Freedom of Panorama has been abolished in Nigeria since March 17, 2023; this upload (part of Wiki Loves Africa campaign) was from May 19 of that year. The building was built in 1975. As no architect has been mentioned, this government building can be considered as an anonymous work, subject to "Publish + 70 years". So 1975+70+1=January 1, 2046, the date when the copyright of the building expires. There is no more Freedom of Panorama in Nigeria since March 17, 2023; this upload was made three days after the effectivity of the more restrictive Nigerian law. Per w:en:Ikoyi, the district saw numerous apartments and high rises built in the modern history. The architecture depicted here is unlikely to be more than 70 years old (or the designer is unlikely dead for more than 70 years) for the work to be in public domain and can be commercially reproduced on Wikimedia. Freedom of Panorama has been abolished in Nigeria since March 17, 2023. These are Wiki Loves Africa-related uploads from April 19, 2023 showing Famfa Oil Building as the main or intended subject. The exterior architecture is already identifiable in these images, making these commercially-licensed images infringements of architect's copyright.

    • @20chances: Copyrighted material may not be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons regardless of their significance.
      English Wikipedia does accept copyrighted material in certain cases under Fair Use (see en:WP:Non-free content and criteria at en:WP:Non-free content criteria) but I suspect this image would not meet the criteria, particularly en:WP:NFCC8: Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Even though it is an interesting situation that happened, I don't think that the photo significantly increases readers' understanding of the Opening Ceremony topic as a whole, not enough to justify hosting copyrighted work. AI-generated trophies where, according to the notices on the talk pages from the uploader, The image does not infringe copyright because the trophy generated with AI is a generic trophy and does not have a particular shape. If these images do not depict the real trophies, they are misleading and not in an educationally useful COM:SCOPE. The images are in use, but only where the uploader has added them to Wikipedia article infoboxes, with no explanation that they are generic AI images.

In some cases a Wikipedia project already had a fair use image of a trophy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Copa_Interamericana_trophy.png) which Rzt has replaced with a generic AI version of an entirely different shape and colour (File:Foto de referencia para la Copa Interamericana.jpg).

Against this work being deleted. They are reference images. If they were carbon copies of trophies like the Copa Interamericana, they would be a copyright violation. Copying the exact shape and color of a non-generic trophy would be a violation of the trophy's copyright. These images do not infringe those registered rights. In the case of the Liguillas, trophies of different shapes and types have been awarded, therefore the respective images serve an informative purpose that does not infringe a registered right. Commons has a lot of photos of football trophies from around the world within Category:Trophies of association football, is there something different about these that makes representations of them copyrighted?
If there is, any picture which deliberately avoids resembling its subject in order to avoid infringing its copyright seems of very little use to the reader. In the case of the English Wikipedia, a fair use image of a copyrighted trophy would be much more useful. Did you check the photos? Mostly the name of the tournament was written on the AI-generated trophy. This matter is not to be believed. There is work time that is lost because a user does not review the photos they intend to delete. As for the replaced image, it was an image of a yellow star on a checkered background and not a trophy. (I looked online but the only other design I can see is a simple gold wineglass-shaped cup.) The photo you are citing has a very low resolution. Sooner or later they will delete it because it is a reduced image of a non-generic trophy. If your problem is that the generic cup is not gold, I inform you that only in 1994 was that cup awarded and in 1998 a very similar one, in the rest of the seasons it was a different trophy. The answer, as the evidence shows, is that there was not a single type of trophy in the history of the tournament, there were small cups, larger ones, silver, gold, with handles of different shapes. Your concern is that the generic cup with the name of the tournament does not infringe copyright.

Okay, got it.
This seems like going to a local trophy store and asking them to engrave Copa Interamericana onto a cheap fishing trophy, and using an image of it on Wikipedia to illustrate the Copa Interamericana. An article like es:Liguilla Pre-Sudamericana (Chile) would be better served with a fair use image of the real thing, or no image at all.

So you simply nominated images that do not violate any type of copyright, without knowing what the trophies of most of those tournaments were like, and you nominated them because in your personal opinion they were superfluous.  Comment An overview of the arguments for preserving these works:
  • The images do not violate copyright rights of any kind. This is important considering the history of images deleted on Commons due to the copyright of non-generic trophies.
  • In the case of the Inter-American Cup there were various designs of the trophy (the links are available in the thread). The trophy referred to by the person requesting the deletion would only correspond to one edition (1994) and is in no way similar to previous designs. Therefore a generic trophy is necessary to represent all editions. The trophies were large, small, silver, golden, with different bases, shapes and handles.
  • The person requesting the deletion has acknowledged in the thread that the name of the tournament is written on most of the trophies generated by AI. They are therefore more informative and illustrative than any randomly chosen trophy. They are works designed to enrich the articles.
  • The person requesting the deletion could not find on the internet photographs of the "Apertura Championship" (1933-1950), "Torneo de Consuelo" (1933 and 1949), "Liguilla Pre Sudamericana" and "Liguilla Pre Libertadores" (where the trophies different from each other, for example in 1986 and 1992). This reaffirms the importance of representing these trophies with generic images that have the name of the tournament.

 Delete After thinking the matter through, I agree to it being deleted. The only thing this work has generated is debate, abstract thought, illustration of articles mostly without photographs. Here they think that people are not so intelligent to differentiate a referential image, literally called referential in commons. I don't agree with that, but I don't consider it to be such a relevant issue. I'm sure that many of those who give their opinion here will upload images of those trophies tomorrow.

cleanpng.com is a sketchy-looking image repository that appears to be taking images from other websites. Their terms of usage are All the transparent images in cleanpng is free to download, and unlimited. You do not need register your email, do not need login with your social account. What we hope is: Share us to your friends and like our facebook page to get the news of cleanpng. and they have a DMCA page at https://www.cleanpng.com/dmca.html which says that the content is only "believed" to be in the public domain and they'll take it down on request. Search for any celebrity name and you get straight up photos like Bill Gates - Marriage Cartoon which is just a Stephen Voss photo with the background cropped out. I don't think we can trust this licensing.

Most of the images are recorded in historical buildings and there are people from a city in the pictures. For example, I am a person from Germany, I want to know what the people of Isfahan look like, what clothes they wear? I use the Category:People of Isfahan and I see this picture. So this is an educational goal of the culture and coverage of the people of a city or country. Still frame [5] from the French film Belle de Jour by Luis Buñel (1900-1983) released in 1967. The film is copyrighted in France its country of origin. Notice that the usage of {{PD-Italy}} is incorrect. It was premiered in France in May 24, 1967 [6]. The Italian release was during the Venice Film Festival in September 1967. The usage of {{PD-1996}} is also incorrect. The film is under copyright in the US as it was also published in the US and registered in the Copyright Office under the record LF30 [7]. False. The Illinois State Police uploaded all videos related to the Massey shooting on their YouTube page (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFun2GydGyU&list=FLJuzdjwrT-829RwfH1bEulg). At 28:07 a title "Body Worn Camera #2" is seen. This is officer Grayson's body camera footage. In the subsequent clip (28:20) Massey can be seen throwing the pot at him. This is from the original posted YouTube clip (go see for yourself). There seems to be confusion about whether officer Grayson had his body cam on. The model of body camera he was wearing is designed to record continuously even when "off." When the officer turns their camera on it will capture the previous 30 seconds and save it. In this case, officer Grayson turns his camera "on" immediately after shooting Massey, which caused the video clip of the incident to be captured. Liliana, I don't think the video is fake UNLESS the Illinois State police is deepfaking bodycam footage. What I don't understand is the fact that several media outlets mentioned he didn't have his BWC (body worn camera) in operation until AFTER the shooting. If that is true either someone misrepresented that fact accidently, was confused, or outright lied. Either that or the Illinois State police made an AI deepfake video. Transparently speaking I have no idea what to think. Liliana is not interested in having an honest discussion judging by their interaction with me on Sonya's Wikipedia page. And your stance is very bizarre. There's no authenticity that needs to be verified here. The video is the official video released by the Illinois State Police on their YouTube page which we both linked to. You even said it yourself that the clip I uploaded matches what is seen in the YouTube clip. So why on earth would we delete the media? I already explained why it was reported that his body camera was off. That's because it was off, but right after the shooting he turns it on and it retroactively saved the prior 30 seconds because that's what the camera is designed to do. In fact, when you read the user guide for the specific model of body camera they were wearing (Axon Body 3 X60A7941G) it outlines on page 11 that there are two modes: Ready (Buffering) and Recording (Event). When in ready mode the camera records in a 0-120 second loop and when the camera is switched on to recording mode the previous 0-120 seconds of the recording are saved without audio. The guide notes that by default the camera is set to record a 30 second loop in ready mode without audio but can be configured to record anywhere from 0-120 seconds with audio. Officer Sean Grayson's body camera was clearly set to default mode because exactly 30 seconds of audio free footage is captured before he switches his body camera on which is when the audio kicks in.
The reason I know the make and model of the cameras they were wearing is because it's stamped in the top right of the video released by the Illinois State Police.

Take Philadelphia, for example. According to A New Nation Votes, the top Monroe elector in Philadelphia recieved 6,874 votes, while the top Unpledged elector recieved 4,107 votes. The "own work" attribution seems unlikely to be correct. The user who uploaded it and claimed it as "own work" did add it to the Spanish wikipedia article at that time (diff), but simultaneously cited an article which included the photo in the Arabic 2012 version here. I suspect that this image is a copyright violation of the logo/crest of the w:Central Hawke's Bay District Council as seen here. While it is in the form of a coat of arms, the uploader has not indicated if it is based on a blazon and thus free from copyright per template:coa blazon. It's always possible that this logo doesn't actually have a blazon and is intead just designed to look like a coat of arms. I am the uploader of this image. I now understand that it is probably a copyright violation as it doesn't comply with template:coa blazon and was based on the image of the Palmerston North coat of arms as seen here and here. While I do beleve there is a blazon for this coat of arms based on at least this, I haven't been able to actually view this or find another source for the blazon. If this -now for some reason globally locked- person who uploaded this dosen't want to be affilated with the image, it might be possible to revision delete the name, but this dosen't change the file being in scope (considering there are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more explicit images of this subject like this)
