- The copyright owner, usually the photographer (Drew?), needs to send an email saying something like "I'm Drew Tommons, I took this image, and own the copyright to this image, and I release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license." to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. This email should come from an official email address of Drew Tommons and/or Virtuoso Imaging, hopefully one that we can verify online. I see http://virtuosoimaging.com/ just went down but https://www.drewtommonsphotographer.co.uk/contact says drew@drewtommonsphotographer.co.uk, so that would be good, or something similar. He should also be ready to respond to a follow up question to that email address. Unfortunately this email method might get followed up on in months, see that COM:OTRS link.
- It might be easier, and certainly would be faster, if they were to post the same statement, with the image, on a page of one of those official web sites, or on their official Facebook, or Twitter, or something like that, then you can put a link to that web page on the image page, and ping a Commons:License reviewer (including any active Commons:Administrator, or, say, me), to confirm. The point is to confirm that the photographer is actually releasing the image. Because, unfortunately, as professional photographers may sadly know, the number of actual professional photographers releasing their excellent professional images for free reuse is noticeably less than the number of people on the Internet claiming to be said professional photographers, so we do have to verify. - Actually, wait a bit. Didn't you do this dance already, four years ago, at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Virtuoso Shoot.jpg? Looks like you got Drew Tommons to send an email to OTRS (permissions-commons) then; just like that. If you plan to upload other Drew Tommons images, it might well be easiest to have the email say "and Wikimedia commons User:Lovetotype has my permission to release all other Drew Tommons and/or Virtuoso Imaging photos", then - when an OTRS volunteer responds - you will be able to link to that OTRS verification for other images as well. --GRuban (talk) 16:36, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks again for your response. I have requested the photographer send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org as requested. I understand this may take some time to validate however I believe it is our only option. Will the picture remain in the meantime? I have also requested he release permission for me to upload any of his photos containing Danny Mac as I am working on behalf of both parties. Can I also ask if the previous image you mentioned: File:Virtuoso Shoot.jpg has been granted permission? Can we still use that image if required. - Follow the links! The blue words in the information we've written, click on them! They go to very useful places! In short, as it says under COM:OTRS put {{subst:OP}} on the text of this image, and it should keep for a little while at least, and meanwhile as it says in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Virtuoso Shoot.jpg it looks as if the OTRS email permission came through there, and that file will be kept indefinitely. It might be a good idea to rename that file, though, since I doubt people will realize that "Virtuoso Shoot" actually means "Picture of Danny Mac"; no offense, but I'm guessing more people will be looking for pictures of the actor, without worrying what photo agency took them, than will be looking for pictures taken by the photo agency, without worrying whom they're pictures of. I am writing to dispute the deletion request for File:Judy Onofrio Portrait.tif as she has given permission for its use on wikipedia pages. I'm new to the commons, so I am not sure if I am disputing this correctly - it seems there are conflicting messages as to whether I should comment on Jonathunder's talk page or post directly on the page of the image. - The image was made by a professional photographer, apparently years ago. Do you have evidence that creator released it into the public domain so that anyone can modify it and use it for any purpose, in print or online, anywhere in the world? (That's the license you chose when you uploaded it.) If it is public domain, why does it have that disclaimer "cannot be distributed without the artists' permission"? I use Inkscape as vectorial image editor, that is free and open-source and multi-platform software. But actually Inkscape does not support "switch". There is no system that currently allows to translate the labels of SVG files created with inkscape (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Tech/SVG_translation) or SVG with switch (File:Anatomy of the Human Ear.svg). "SVG_translation" (https://tools.wmflabs.org/svgtranslate/) always returns an error.
When you have reedited my updates, in all cases you has been deleted the layers. It is very useful the layers for subsequent edition and possible modifications of any drawing: locking and unlocking, or hiding o showing each layer. You can look here about this. In this case (only) I have used three layers (drawing, arrows and text). But usually I uses several layers for the draw.
The use of translation can be a regular or good solution, depending on the complexity of the drawing and the text. Changing the text without "switch" gives the best results, since:
- The length and position of the labels in the arrows can be adjusted.
- There are labels that, depending on the language, may require more than one line or, conversely, only one in case the original needs two.
- Some writings may require a larger font size than usual English, such as Arabic, Farsi, or Chinese idiographies.
- Sometimes is better the conversion of all text to paths (File:Comparison_raw_text_converted_path.svg).
So I think that, in this case, your reedition of the drawings of this category has not provided any improvement. Therefore I do not agree with your deletion request.

- Inkscape does support switch, but there is no good way to use it, because you have to change the language of Inkscape to edit a specific language: File:Inkscape_v091_GUI_Interface_Settings_Menu_Text2Path.svg. So change the language to "(fi)" and you edit the fi-switch.

At the moment (and after many hours of work) I have rebuilt a new version of a complex SVG (File:Scheme female reproductive system-en.svg, with six layers of draw, one layer with arrows and one layer of text). On one occasion (File:Schematic diagram of the human eye en.svg), I had created the same drawing with a layer by language and showing only the layer of the language that was interesting and hiding the other layers (of other languages). Do you know how to do similar with "switch"?.

- I do not agree because my drawing is better. I do not know how to make a multilanguage version of my file that includes, therefore, Finnish. The normal user of Wikipedia does not care if the SVG file is multilingual or not. - Why my drawing is better?.
- The auricle was too small (microtia). I added cartilage and superior auricular muscle.
- The ear canal was too narrow (pathological).
- In my drawing, the contact (union) of the malleus handle with the eardrum is clearly shown.
- I added ligaments for auditory ossicles. The stapes was too big.
- I added a bone separation between the middle and the inner ear.
- Position of the vertical semicircular ducts (they should have an angulation of 90°) was incorrect.
- The vestibular and cochlear nerves leaved the inner ear separately. When they end up in the vestibulocochlear nerve.
- I added internal auditory meatus for the vestibulocochlear nerve.
- @Jmarchn: If you truly believe your updates are a big improvement, please make them on the main multilingual image (File:Anatomy of the Human Ear.svg) as well – this way it will benefit many readers in multiple languages at once. Cherkash (talk) 01:10, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Jmarchn: By the way, I'm sorry to say this – but none of your alleged changes seem to have been made to the image under discussion. You can compare two essentially identical resolutions of both images side by side ([2] and [3]) to see that either your changes are so small as to be indistinguishable or they haven't been made as claimed. So there should be no objection left on your side: this image under discussion is identical to the multilingual image of which this one here is just a translation that's been now superseded by the other image. - @Jmarchn: That you can't edit multilingual SVG is not a valid reason to keep the file (It's your problem, but you can ask for help f.e. at Commons:Graphics_village_pump or read Help:SVG#systemLanguage_processing or google it)
- Admins have to decide most deletion-requests within few seconds, otherwise they won't be able to keep up with housekeeping.

But to answer your question directly: you can either 1) edit the file with a text editor (the structure is mostly straight-forward), or 2) you can use Inkscape to edit it, by switching the language in the menu and then re-starting the editor (use the following menu: "Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Language (requires restart)"). - If you represent the band, and paid Sean Fenzl the photographer, then you may well have bought the copyright to the image. Ask him or check your contract with him. Then if you do own the copyright, you can place it into the public domain or a similar free license that we can use, but you need to prove it, we can't just assume a clearly professional image is public domain without verification. Post something like "We own the copyright to this image and release it under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International" on an official band web page, or Sean Fenzl's official web page, and link to that statement, or email permission-commons@wikimedia.org with the same statement from an official email address of either of those per COM:OTRS, and be prepared for an email conversation to verify (but email can take months, posting on the web is faster). --GRuban (talk) 21:07, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

- Yes, User:Wcam is License reviewer, Rollbacker, File renamer of Commons. But Wcam seems tends to Snowball Clause (meta wikimedia), I think. Because, the deletion reason that 'Unlikely "own work"' is not so sufficient, just 'EXIF contains no camera info' is not so sufficient. Wcam says '(unlikely) this image is the uploader's only contribution.'. Yes, then why all uploaders to Commons IS NOT WARNED that 'Please be careful as it is suspected not authrized when the so said self taken image is without EXIF info.' or so alike? Overall, User:Wcam tends to request deletion medias with 'few or insufficient reason' and without 'solid doubt' nor 'obvious doubt'. On that basis, IS NOT IT Snowball Clause? Apart from that I do not want to sue Wcam. 99% of Wcam's work is decent, but 1% has strong suspicion. Hallo zusammen, da ich mich mit den Gepflogenheiten hier noch nicht so Richtig auskenne bitte ich schon jetzt um nachsicht wenn ich nicht auf allen richtigen Seiten schreibe oder andere Fehle mache. Die Graphik stammt aus einem alten Firmenprospekt zum 50 Firmenjubiläum aus dem Jahr 1927. Die Firma hat leider 2001 Konkurs angemeldet. Hand of Fatima is a female hand and the source to this flag has a female hand. So what is the reason in making it a male hand, misogyny? Please remove it from the article in WP during this file discussion so that this clearly wrong invention may be deleted from Commons. It's highly unlikely to be uploader's own work. The image might have been taken from social media profiles of the deceased as was done by press and television channels. - The image is my work, no evidence provided how this can be unlikely. Also, contrary to the assumption made, I have not came across any mainstream media using this image as of yet.
