- По ряду логотипов есть вполне правомерные сомнения в пользу их тривиальности: 1) File:Снежная королева (логотип).jpg – текст, геральдический символ в квадрате с закруглёнными углами; 2) File:Karusel.png – текст, прямоугольник и два листка эллиптической формы; 3) File:Perekryostok.svg – текст, целеуказатели округой формы, закругления в шрифте; 4) File:360 Total Security.png – знак плюса со скругленными краями в окружности, в нижней и верхней части усечённые вытянутые капли; 5) File:Zavolzhsky motor plant.jpg – текст, треугольники, стрелки и окружность; 6) File:Нортгаз.png – текст, пара простых волн, стрелки. Comment Our policies don't have much details about the ToO in Russia. The only things I could read in English in the web about the ToO in Russia talk about a "human creation resulting from an intellectual activity". That seems to be a quite low ToO. Возможно, перенеся их сюда с помощью For the Common Good я просто небрежно оформил лицензии. А насчёт разрешения и EXIF: я свои собственные работы грузил сюда, как-то не придавая этому значения. - Автор этих фото Tpyvvikky опубликовал их на Ру-Вики под лицензией «Общественное достояние», стало быть, он всё загрузил без нарушений. - Delete, but we should be clear about the problem as the uploader may read this. The issues are:
- We need permission from the copyright holder of the image. Unless there is evidence to the contrary we assume that this is the original photographer, not the subject of a photograph.
- If the subject of the photograph has the copyright then we need evidence of this. We would also need evidence that the uploading account Envergjokaj is controlled by the actor w:Enver Gjokaj.

Derivatives of non-free works (some two-dimensional and others three-dimensional), which are obviously not the uploader's own works, since the real author has been dead since 1975. There is no evidence that any of these works are permanently located in a public space as required for Commons:Freedom of panorama#Czech Republic to apply. Several of the photos of three-dimensional works are obviously not taken in a public place, and it's questionable whether they were even taken by the uploader.

I object to the deletion of Teheran US embassy propaganda statue of liberty.jpg
- While it is true that there is no general FoP provision in the copyright law of Iran, the rules are quite clear for architectural works, designs, sketches and buildings and sculptures of all types: "In cases where the work belongs to a legal personality or rights are transferred to a legal personality, it will go into the public domain after 30 years from the date of publication or public presentation (Article 16)." (see here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Iran).
- The seizure of the former American embassy (which is to this day maintained by the state-sponsored revolutionary guards) and the creation / public display of these murals lie well beyond 30 years in the past. Thus in scope, and Cristian Bonaldi indeed seems to be a writer (mentioned in an Italian Wikipedia article), though I don't know how notable. Another question could be: who took this picture if Bonaldi is in the picture and identifies himself as the uploader? I object to the deletion of Teheran US embassy propaganda gun.jpg
- While it is true that there is no general FoP provision in the copyright law of Iran, the rules are quite clear for architectural works, designs, sketches and buildings and sculptures of all types: "In cases where the work belongs to a legal personality or rights are transferred to a legal personality, it will go into the public domain after 30 years from the date of publication or public presentation (Article 16)." (see here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Iran).
- The seizure of the former American embassy (which is to this day maintained by the state-sponsored revolutionary guards) and the creation / public display of these murals lie well beyond 30 years in the past. - Weak keep There's actually a rationale on the file description page arguing for the statue being in the public domain: "The original statue: Made in 1970 and because its copyright belongs to Tehran city management office (legal person) it has be expired after 30 years", using {{PD-Iran}}. If that's correct, then it doesn't matter that there's no FoP in Iran. But I don't feel qualified to assess this PD claim. The photo is widely used in Wikipedia, by the way. It seems you are also don't firm with the Renaming rules. File:Cherenkov2.svg was the example file for 4 years. This mistake should be undone, all replacing done by Glrx should be reverted. - I am not making a rename request, so Commons:Renaming files does not apply. Cherenkov2.svg is the original filename, and I am not asking to change that filename.
- What I have done is straighten out the file history for Pieter Kuiper's contribution.
- I am asking to delete this file (which was a copy of Cherenkov2.svg with trivial changes) and File:Cherenkov1.svg (which was also a trivial copy). The official guideline for editing files, Commons:Overwriting existing files, permits minor changes when "the essential composition is not altered".
- The dates do not suggest that Cherenkov2.svg was created as an example file. Cherenkov2.svg is the original file.
- File:Cherenkov2.svg (Pieter Kuiper) shows a creation date of 22 June 2007. It is the earliest file date.
- File:Cherenkov Wavefront.svg (Inductiveload) shows a creation date of 4 October 2007. Inductiveload credits Pieter Kuiper. Inductiveload's upload has the same spelling mistake in the description. Inductiveload credits Cherenkov2.svg as the original file.[3]
- Cherenkov Wavefront.svg was created by converting Cherenkov2.svg's text to curves. It was a workaround for Cherenkov2.svg rather than an original file.
- File:Cherenkov1.svg (Sarang) was created on 13 May 2018. It claims to be generated from the Cherenkov2.svg.
- Cherenkov2.svg is poor example of librsvg's inability to do textPath because (1) the path is a straight line and (2) librsvg is capable of rendering text on straight lines. An example that uses a curved path would be a better illustration of the bug. There are plenty of maps with river names painted along the river's path.
- We should not be keeping Cherenkov2.svg in a broken state. As User:Thomas Linard said recently, Commons should not be a "museum of old SVG horrors."[4] Pieter Kuiper submitted a perfectly valid SVG 1.1 file to illustrate Cherenkov radiation. We should not usurp his contribution to be a poster child for librsvg's weaknesses.
- The only plausible controversial change I did was deleting the references to Cherenekov2.svg and Cherenkov Wavefront.svg on a de.WP page where they were used as an example for fixing a linear textPath. With the fix to Cherenkov2.svg, the illustrative value was lost. The example is dubious; how many linear textPath elements are out there?

- The original file was never really used as such. This file was the first fixed after 2 weeks after the last version of the original author. So the original file to be the original file is fully irrelevant for usage.
- What you have done is fully confusion. You also not mentioned the other file which fixed/used years before your claim of fixing.

This was a very first illustrated example to omit such bugs, so deleting this long year example with this argument is not suitable, if we do not show another better example. IMHO we should select one file, maybe Cherenkov2, and add the interesting solutions of the other drawings as versions to it; then the other files can be deleted and the remaining file which shows all solution examples offers the possibility to select one of this versions as the best one. - Comment. I really don't know what to say here. The original author of this illustration made File:Cherenkov2.svg to illustrate a physical phenomenon. Minutes after making the image, he put it in the Sound barrier gallery to advertise it.[5] The next day he marked the file as having librsvg bug.[6] He made the image using valid SVG; for example, the image displayed correctly when he drew it and it displays correctly on Chrome. In 2007, Inductiveload "fixed" the librsvg issue by converting the text to curves and posted the fix to this filename. In 2014, Perhelion removed the text-as-curves by displaying rotated text. Arguably, Perhelion's fix should have been made to the original Cherenkov2.svg file; making the change to Cherenkov2.svg would better preserve the file history; it would fix the original problem rather that fixing the workaround of the problem. That's what I did with my changes: I fixed the original file and made other wiki's reference the original filename rather than the workaround filename (I also added some RDF).
Since filing this DR, my upload of the fixed Cherenkov2.svg has been reverted (breaking the images on other wikis)[7] and claims have been staked to make the original file an example of librsvg's limitations rather than the physical phenomenon.[8] That has usurped the original uploader's intent. The derivative files should be deleted and original uploader's file (with textPath fixed) should be used. That respects the original uploader's contribution. If an example of librsvg's inability to handletextPathis desired, then it should be forked as something like Cherenkov2-librsvg-limitation.svg (a file whose intent is to show the limitation). This file (Cherenkov Wavefront.svg) should be deleted; it was only intended to fix rendering problems with the original file. Nevertheless, it is very unlikely that those are really “own work”—many images look like scans of printed material. - @Ltosnar: Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately the problem is not with permission to access source documents, nor permission to use them on Wikipedia. The problem is that by posting photos here under a CC-by-sa license you are granting rights for their re-use by anyone for any purpose: this can be done only by the copyright owner themselves. Unless these images are in the public domain they cannot be published here without permission. To summarize, for each photo there seems to be 3 possibilities: 1) we can determine that it is in the public domain (the author must be identified for this); 2) you can obtain permission from the copyright owner (e.g. editor of book from which photos have been scanned) and forward it through the OTRS system; 3) The photo must be deleted from Wikimedia Commons. the Answer 4 I do not understand what you want me to do. The original pictures were created between 1912-1937. They were owned by company Walter (Walter, a car factory and aircraft´s engines)by the Kumpera family. Photo author is unknown. I do not know, where are the "glass plates" now. Copies from "glass plates" have been published maybe in many publications, newspapers and magazines that were published at the time. Why else would they be taken? After World War II, Walter was nationalized under President Beneš's decree without compensation. Attempts to restore property to the Kumpera family after the revolution in 1989 rejected the Czechoslovak state. The archive of these images has already been transformed into national ownership of the Motorlet National Company (1946-1995). In the years 1980-82, I used these images for the works mentioned, like hundreds of authors before me. I got the photograph from the Motorlet archive. From "glass plates" (negatives) are posibillity to make many copies - photos. That was the my contract with Motorlet. I will write the two publications and get the pictures. I chose them myself. I have about 200 of these photos. I want to use them for more articles on Wikipedia. Walter ceased making cars in 1951. Motorlet went bankrupt in 1995. In 1995, the company Motorlet was privatized as Walter a.s., and in 2005 the residual company was sold out - Walter Medica (healthcare), Walter Engines (aircraft´s motors), Walter - Deritend (precision casting foundry) etc. Land was sold and now here Penta Investments (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penta_Investments) built office and residential complex REZIDENCE WALTROVKA (https://www.waltrovka.cz/en/home/). The Czech Republic became a member of the EU in 2004. Czechoslovakia could not be a member of the EU in 1912-1937 because the EU did not exist in those years.

- Like the vast majority of documents produced at the start of the 20th century these files are probably not in the public domain. The line of inheritance of copyright owners doesn’t matter. Without evidence they were published anonymously before 1947 in the EU, or published before 1923 in the US, or that the authors died before 1947, or without evidence that one of the countless complicated rules for copyight exiry applies, we can’t assume they are here for all to use. the Answer 5 The Archives of Motorlet are stored in the State Regional Archives of Prague (Státní oblastní archív Praha), Walter a.s. (1902-1996). Unfortunately, since the last nomination, a number of further files have been uploaded with the same problem. The source is indicated but there is no evidence provided for the license given (most of them CC-by-sa, a few anonymous-EU). Most of those images seem to have been produced in the 1920s and 1930s and are unlikely to enter the public domain before a long time.

- @Ariadacapo: I have a few books (22 !), where the photos have been published. The source was either the State Regional Archives in Prague or the Walter (Motorlet) archive. The whole world can presented these photos, but Wikimedia Commons not. Is not it strange ? Finding those photos in old magazines and newspapers is a job for some years. And even the little child is clear that the photos were maked before 1948. Walter was only producing cars until 1948:

Permission from the copyright owners: owner from the copyright is Czech Republic (State Regional Archives in Prague). The photographs may have been taken by a Walter employee and were therefore owned by the Walter plant, owned by the Kumpera family. The property of the Kumpera family (Kumpera) was confiscated according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of 25 October 1945 on Confiscation of Enemy Assets and National Restitution Funds No. 108/1945 Coll. Factory Walter was nationalized after the II. World War in 1945. All property belonged to the Czechoslovak Republic. Now the documentation is stored in the state archive and "belongs to all the people". Archiving site: The State Regional Archives in Prague. See: https://www.mvcr.cz/clanek/archivy-a-archivalie.aspx?q=Y2hudW09Mg%3d%3d. The Walter Archive(1902-1948) is accessible and anyone can copy, photograph, scan, etc. For many photos (where isn´t author) I also mention where they were published(all photos are in the State Regional Archives), ie Magazines and Newspapers: Auto, Pestrý týden, Český svět, Motor Journal, Národní listy, Lidové noviny). The "community" also suggests deleting these pictures. Why? Are not they measuring "dual" meter here? - @Ariadacapo: The Case (Walter Automobiles Photos) is like this. All the "infested" photographs were published in the Walter Bulletins. It was a factory magazine that was published in 1928-1939. Every volume have 20-160 pages. Today, I have studied all the editions in the State Regional Archive, and I found the all photographs there. Bulletins especially with cars:

It would be best to release all the pictures without I have to record them again. Even if, I have them from the archive now in better quality. All sources (Walter Bulletins) I add to the photos. It's a pity you deleted photos from June 2018.

Finally, your final remark is unwarranted: your sourcing and licensing of those files were entirely fanciful. Question Why are we discussing Peruvian copyright law when the photo was taken in Mexico? Does anyone know who the photographer was or what agency they worked for? Does anyone know where this was first published? World's Lamest Critic (talk) 23:23, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
