- Nope, that's not how Commons works. Files that are not in the public domain must be explicitly released under one of the allowed licenses. Comment Delete I flew over [1] which apparently served as a basis to what is written in COM:TOO#Italy, however I'm not at all sure to draw the same conclusion, quite the opposite. Me I read "... all works that are a personal intellectual creation (...) should be considered as copyright works", it is true that industrial design is somewhat exempted for copyright protection, but from there to make the shortcut between industrial design and logos....I disagree. Industrial design can mean for example the design of a car, and that should fall under utility objects. I think we can even interpret the text at the exact opposite, " all intellectual creations are copyright works, included the utility objects as long as those utility object have an industrial design that met a sufficient threshold". This text describe IMO a very very low ToO, because in most countries industrial design, in the meaning utility objects, are usually exempted of copyright protection, however apparently in Italy this is not the case. - Believe me I'm not happy of that but when we try to understand a text we must really try to understand this text. Not to take the only three most positive words "threshold" "quite" "high", to get them out from the context, and to remix those words in a way that we want. That said I'm not an English native speaker and my understanding of the text may be wrong, as well as my understanding of what is an" industrial design" may also be wrong. But anyway I still think that a shortcut between "industrial design bless of quite high threshold" and "this is also the case for the logos" is an overinterpretation of what is written. I mean I'm pretty sure there is no common point between an "industrial design" and a "logo", therefore I can't see how we can make an analogy for the copyright protection (and therefore for the threshold of originality needed for the copyright protection) of those two distinct subjects. "all works that are a personal intellectual creation..." is applicable to the logos and that sentence don't talk about any threshold other than the one of to be a "personal intellectual creation", not even somewhat artistic. Das ist definitiv nicht der Bruchwetter. Auf SAT-Fotos ist dieses Wehr nicht vorhanden. Auch wenn das Wehr abgebaut wäre, würde man die alte Betonkante links und rechts auf SAT-Bildern erkennen. Außerdem fließt der Bruchwetter südlich von Echem und nicht nördlich. Wenn es nördlich wäre, wäre es der Marschwetter, der kann es aber auch nicht sein, weil die Betonkante links und der Bewuchs links und rechts auf keinen Fall zu den SAT-Bildern passt. Die Beschreibung des Bildes ist absolut nichts aussagend bzgl. des Ortes, die einzige Angabe "Bruchwetter nördlich von Echem" ist falsch. Daher stelle ich erneut einen Antrag zur Löschung. Außerdem sieht man auf dem SAT-Bild von Bing einen Metallsteg welcher zu dem Handlauf passt. Ich habe die Breite des Flusses und des Bauwerkes gemessen. sie stimmt auf dem Foto mit dem SAT-Bild überein. Und die Betonkante links und rechts passt. Looking at the blog's layout, I suspect the image was cropped from the original for decorative reasons. By happenstance, I came across this sign while going for a walk recently. I took a photo for my own personal use, but surprised to see this photo in Commons. While the photographer owns the copyright to the photo itself and can release it, I don't see anything in the description that resolves the licensing of the text on the plaque. This photo was taken by New Orleans historian Keith Weldon Medley who wrote the book on the subject of who were the historic individuals whose names underlay this historic case that was decided at the US Supreme Court. Medley wrote the words on this plaque and was part of the community organization that raised the funds that placed the plaque at the site where Plessy was removed from a public train due to the color of his skin. Medley sent me a copy of the photo he took and gave permission for this image to be used on Wikipedia. What else would you like to know about the origin of this photo and that its author has given permission for it to be distributed with the appropriate license? - @Conor Lawless: Unless there is a clear evidence that you and not Galloping Films are the copyright holder, the photos cannot be stored in Wikimedia Commons. Read COM:PCP. And this cannot be resolved on-wiki, without appropriate documents signed by authorized, identifiable persons. Read COM:OTRS how to resolve this. Delete for now. - @Ankry: There is no document that can be more clear and identifiable than me (the owner) uploading the images onto my flickr account, explicitly assigning them CC licenses and transferring images from there to wikimedia. After I published them on flickr with a CC attribution license, as well as being used by Galloping Films, they have been found on flickr and gratefully used, under CC attribution licence, by journalists from The Guardian and The Washington Post, for example, without any difficulty. Why would wikimedia want to disregard explicit, useful CC licenses so casually? In any case, the page you direct me to explicitly states that I should not contact OTRS because "The image was first published on my website, or on my own space of a shared website.". --Conor Lawless (talk) 12:40, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

- Those aren't the requirements for the current license as far as I see. I think they are:
- This UK artistic work, of which the author is unknown and cannot be ascertained by reasonable enquiry, is in the public domain because it is one of the following:
- (I don't know what reasonable enquiry has been made.)
- A photograph, which was made available to the public (e.g. by publication or display at an exhibition) more than 70 years ago (before 1 January 1948)
- (It was published in 1935)

- Please see the license template itself: "This tag can be used only when the author cannot be ascertained by reasonable enquiry. If you wish to rely on it, please specify in the image description the research you have carried out to find who the author was.". This condition is not met in this case. - Neither do I. It's possible that a specialist publication on cigarette cards might come up with a name, but many such images are essentially anonymous.
