Who is the photographer, who has a copyright on this picture? Since there is only one copy of this coin, it is certainly made by some official organisation. At best, it is a small duplicate of File:Monnaie de Bactriane, Eucratide I, pile.jpg. Yann (talk) 04:09, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Keep Is this item on exhibit anywhere? According to File:EucratidesStatere.jpg, it is (or at least was at certain times), and so it's not unreasonable that a private person could photograph it. At the lower-left edge of the coin in the nominated image is an area that matches the background of that other image I mention. So I do not see an obvious reason to reject the image uploader's claim of owning the license to the image. The image appears to be different lighting and angle than the alternative Yann notes, and is still quite large and high resolution, though not as large as that other. I can see some slightly different details of the relief also. So I think this is not merely an inferior duplicate. DMacks (talk) 06:59, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

- Actually the picture is being used in two articles that are lists of courthouses. The picture is a picture of the courthouse, the statue just happens to be there. I used another one in the article about the sculpture. Carptrash (talk) 05:30, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

I think these uploads are all copyright violations. The foundation is obviously stolen as it's watermarked, and I found the other two on a skyscraper forum http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=525819&page=686 Also suspicious that one photo is cropped and resized to a PNG, instead of the original being uploaded. Owning a painting does not give the owner the right to freely license it. That right is almost always held by the artist's heirs. Farid Mansour died in 2010, so this will under copyright until 2081. - I was thinking about the entire structure as a 3D object, but I see what you mean. In this case and if it is to be taken as 2D, is it a graphic work or a work of artistic craftsmanship? Also, different than the previous question but relevant, would cropping the image (removing the lettering part) make this a 3D object? - I can't imagine a UK court agreeing that a simple metal frame supporting a printed 2D noticeboard was a work of artistic craftmanship. ;) If we removed the lower half of the picture with the copyrighted text, you'd effectively have a photograph of a house, with a 2D graphic image that you can't quite make out, which would certainly be covered by de minimis, though, particularly if the file was renamed. - Ok, but if wrought iron gates and cutlery and high-class printing are artistic craftsmanship, and graphic art is painting, drawing, diagram, map, chart or plan, any engraving, etching, lithograph, woodcut or similar work where does a 3D object consisting of a metal frame and a printed plaque with writing falls under? Anyway, I understand the necessity for being careful with regards to avoiding potential copyright infringements, and splitting hairs if and when necessary, so in the event it happens that this file is deleted I will upload it under Fair use in the local wikis. I have checked these images on line in the past, a random selection of them and I could not find anything similar. Some of the description are taken from short snippets of Britannica, but the images there are different. The large amount of files and the description indicates someone who has access to a certain knowledge of the subject. In some description there are some typos in English (but not different than those in this request) but you can't expect people in the academic milieu of some countries to master English perfectly when very young or very old, for example. These looks like the images from a person with some access to the field, there are valuable images and I beg to ask users a comment before starting a deletion "brutally" this way (but I will not be listened, I guess). This user did not reply in the talk page to other comments, so you have to send him or her an email to be sure this request has more chance to be seen. In any case nobody among the jurors involved, both expert or wikimedians, raised the problem of copyviol during the evaluation, so I wouldn't have considered them critical. The user probably used his/her own name, which is IMHO a good sign. Since he should be informed if a finalist, I google it before. I could not track anyone in Jordan with that name (if he actually lives in Jordan and I am not sure which is the surname or name, but I guess he is Mohammad Saba). If I search Mohammed Saba with a different vowel I found also another person. It's more difficult with translation of non-Latin name but if this is a young student, it's possible that he does not master perfectly English and does not have a lot of publication. In any case this sounds like a real person, with no fraudulent purpose. I mean it's possible that he simply got his own images here through a different process , maybe to remove some additional information from the machine at the bottom. I did not consider in the end the doubt critical to ask, but again this is something I would have probably been before starting a deletion procedure to maximize the probability to save them.--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:10, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

- It is possible. First title (upper) is clearly copyrightable (this is well-known cite of Vysotsky's poetic work). I can read and cite several paragraphs from "О чём поёт Высоцкий" and "Чаcтным порядком" (these titles as themselves are trivial), but such citations will be copyvio from myself. - I'm not sure what you mean. Pictures of w:Torre Littoria are not permitted on Commons because there's no FOP. 1931 - 1934
J'ai téléchargé cette affiche car je n'en connaissais pas l'auteur et le film était sorti en 1934, donc il y a plus de 70 ans. Il ne me semble pas que ce se soit Louis Audouin-Dubreuil (mort en 1960) qui ait fait cette affiche mais un dessinateur inconnu travaillant pour la compagnie de cinéma et qui s'est inspiré d'une photographie prise en 1931 lors de la traversée de l'Himalaya. Pour moi, cette affiche est bien dans le domaine public, à moins de montrer très clairement que c'est Louis Audouin-Dubreuil qui l'a faite... Où un autre dessinateur mort après 1948. Le site histoire-image.org, bien renseigné, ne donne aucun auteur précis à cette affiche, et Louis Audouin-Dubreuil, à ma connaissance, était un militaire et explorateur, pas un dessinateur (à peu près comme Georges-Marie Haardt, dont le nom est cité aussi en bas de l'affiche et qui était le chef de l'expédition). - Pas de problème. En règle générale, j'épluche de font en comble toutes les références des documents que je télécharge, et comme je ne travaille que sur des articles concernant des faits anciens ou très anciens, le plus souvent il n'y a pas de problème car le siècle est dépassé. Pour l'entre-deux guerre, c'est plus délicat, car certains auteurs des photographies, quand ils sont connus, ont vécu jusque dans les années 1970 - 1980. Pour la période 1914 - 1945, j'utilise régulièrement le site de la BNF qui mentionne clairement que l'image est dans le domaine public, le plus souvent d'ailleurs car l'auteur n'est pas connu. - Delete Si l'auteur travaillait pour la compagnie de cinéma, alors les droits reviennent à la maison de production (Code de la propriété intellectuelle Article L132-24). @AYE R: Il faudrait remonter à qui a produit ce film et qui possède donc les droits d'auteur. Le réalisateur est décédé en 1975, donc si on prend ça pour référence, le film (et l'affiche) ne seront dans le domain public qu'en 2046. - C'est une affiche. Une affiche n'est pas une oeuvre audiovisuelle. L'article L132-24 ne s'y applique pas. L'affiche est anonyme. Aucun indice ne porte à penser que le réalisateur du film était par ailleurs un illustrateur et qu'il ait créé cette affiche.
