- Hi. You are right that CC-By-NC is not an open license accepted on Wikimedia Commons. If the file was only published under CC-BY-NC, it would not be hosted on Wikimedia Commons. But this file is multi-licensed: it is also available under the GFDL 1.2, which is considered a free licence accepted on Wikimedia Commons. The GFDL 1.2 has some, er, features which make it so that in some circumstances, it may be more convenient for reusers to follow the terms of the CC-BY-NC rather than the GFDL 1.2.
- (This way of doing things has been challenged and debated within the Wikimedia Commons community, and was ultimately kept that way)
- I hope that answers your question. I‘d be happy to discuss it more, but in the meantime I will close this deletion request as there is nothing problematic about this file based on current Wikimedia Commons policies.

- It is a travel document, not a created, artistic work, with the application of standard government words, or other information to explain the nature of the visa. I doubt copyright comes into play. Delete I disagree. The lion in the background, on the passport page itself, has or had a copyright. Depending on what country the passport is from, that copyright may or may not still be in effect. Available on several websites. This is from a concert in 2006. (Presentation "Descompresión" at the "Maria Angola".) Used for instance in this video, and again here. First, British Photographer Bill Brandt died 1983. Second, the attribution to Bill Brandt is very likely wrong; I'd rather attribute this to Swiss photographer Carl Franz Julius Brandt of Arosa,[4] who died 1972. The painting is from 1946 with a named author, but the image is licensed here as own work (presumably for the photograph). 2014-1946 = only 68 years, so even if this was the last thing done by this painter, it still won't be free for another two years, and currently is unused and a probable COM:COPYVIO. - Если бы артист пел в душе у себя дома, то тогда он бы мог требовать согласования. В данном случае - не вариант. Выставление файла на удаление по этой причине является нарушением правил проекта и при повторении подобного это будет повод к блокировке. Однако, коли фото не нравится - есть замечательный способ его поменять - предоставить свободное фото лучше, нежели это. Не по емейлу, а загрузив на Викисклад ознакомившись предварительно с правилами проекта - чего, как видно пока не сделано. Скажем в фас и снятое в студии. - It is so small because I took it at a game on my phone. Cropping him out resulted in this image, which is the best available. Unclear copyright status. The design (drawings, symbols etc.) printed on these official tickets for FIFA World Cup 2014 are most likely copyrighted by FIFA or by somebody else. Oppose First of all, we should provide explicit info on who is the copyright owner, we shall not simply delete based on a "possible" - "likely" or assuming copyrights where there might be none. The FIFA World Cup 2014 log is clearly the only verified copyrighted material, but it is small enough to represent a copyvio to merit removal (See Commons:De minimis) If considered so, we can add the de minimis tag to warn that the FIFA logo is coyprighted). The discussions about the Louvre pyramids nominated for deletion and kept provide the arguments that apply here. Info Mariordo is the uploader of these two photos. "(...) we shall not simply delete based on a "possible" - "likely" or assuming copyrights where there might be none (...). Obviously, you did not design the layout of the tickets so it is - per COM:EVID - up to you to clarify the copyright. COM:DM might be applicable for the small FIFA symbol on the top right side of the ticket but the rest of its design is - IMHO - clearly in focus and fails COM:DM. The question here is if this design could be considered as simple geometry, ineligible for copyright ({{PD-shape}}), but I have doubts about this. Gunnex (talk) 22:04, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Gunnex, thanks for your clarification, I did not know the burden was on me to demonstrate the copyright status. When I uploaded these images I had di minimins in mind because FIFA clearly marks its copyrighted material with the R and C symbols. They are difficult to spot in my pictures, but here you can see them clearly. The flowery border does not have such marking, so I assumed they were not copyrighted. As you can check here, all posters for the 2014 World Cup is clearly marked with the C symbol + 2012 FIFA TM. I already search through Google to try to find the origin of the rest of the design and its copyright status. So far, no luck. I just request a couple of days to conclude my search.
- In addition, I would like you to consider that the two pictures are different. File:Mundial Futbol 05 2014 Brasil 8697 blurred.jpg shows a smaller image of the ticket, and consequently, the image of the flowery design is small as compared with the area of the total of the picture, and as such, it might be subject to COM:DM. - I tried hard, and couldn't find any info about the origin of the flowery design either way. - Delete - let's be absolutely clear. FIFA is a slick corporate machine that dominates football and runs the World Cup with an iron hand. These tickets will have been issued by agents but the copyright is held by FIFA and FIFA alone. There is no possibility that the image might be licensed for reuse, at least in our lifetimes. OK, Aleksander was Already notified. I asked him to read the Polish version and write an email with permission to share and modify his materials to permissions-pl@wikimedia.org
Hi, I was talking to Aleksander. He tried to get through all the regulations concerning copyright and he has some reservation as to whether he would like to give Wikipedia so many rights to his IP. Besides he also has some problems with understanding legal language - if you don't understand the contract you are a bit afraid to give your consent and sign it. He gave permission to me to publish the pictures but is not sure if he wants to give other people and portals and Wikipedia all these rights because he has no idea what problems it may cause in the future.
So please, would you be so kind and remove all these files? It would be safer to the artist, I think to have no pictures. These are the following:

- First photo. Is Jegelewicz really the photographer? Why the photo is so small? Can you upload a bigger version, for example, 2000×1500 pixels? Can you upload a version with EXIF data? Can you describe and categorize the photo correctly? (What kind of people are they and why they are wearing yellow hats?)

This is almost certainly a copyvio, but maybe a misguided upload by someone who had access to the image. It is possible but unlikely that the uploader is the photographer. The photo appears on pages 14 and 16 of the 2007-09 annual report of the CNC (downloadable from the link on this page). Although they are both smaller copies than the Commons image, I think the report was almost certainly published long before the image was uploaded here (17 January 2012). The organization website does claim copyright at the legal noticias page and the fifth paragraph states that all the website contents including images and photographs are property of the CNC or their contractors and that such content cannot be modified, copied, reproduced without their express permission. It is a good photo but unfortunately it should be deleted per COM:PRP unless someone wants to contact the CNC, find out who took the photo and obtain permission from the author. A week later, I thought that Jmabel might have forgotten about it (admins being busy and overworked), so I had another look at the image and I still felt it wasn't a clear cut case either way. I agree it is entirely possible that the uploader is the copyright holder and I would support keeping an obviously superior photo but equally there is no reason to doubt that the report was published long before the image was uploaded here. I did consider raising the issue with the uploader but they have only made 3 edits, all of them on 17 January 2012, and like Jmabel I couldn't foresee a response from them anytime soon. Longer version: The social/political interpretations of the quenelle gesture (English wikipedia or French wikipedia) gesture are quite complex, in particular due to its creator's and users' evasiveness about any specific meaning; proponents typically describe it as a non-specific "f--- you" to "the system." However, many reliable sources (see English or French articles for examples) describe it as a coded antisemitic gesture, resembling an inverted Nazi salute. This interpretation is supported by instances in which it has been performed and recorded at specifically Jewish sites, including by one man at the site of several fatal anti-Jewish attacks in France.
While this image is allegedly just a "technical" description of how the quenelle is performed, by a man wearing a shirt purpose-made to illustrate quenelles of different lengths, it has a giant glaring subtext which makes it basically impossible to use in the context of an encyclopedia or another educational resource striving for a neutral point of view: the background is the Sofitel Hotel in New York, where Dominique Strauss-Kahn (a French, Jewish politician) became embroiled in a major scandal involving allegations of rape.
Commons already has a perfectly adequate image illustrating the gesture in a less-loaded fashion File:Geste de la quenelle.png. I argue that this image adds nothing of any educational value, while it's liable to be used as coded propaganda for proponents of the racist/antisemitic interpretation of the gesture, as appears to have been the case in a recent revision of the English WP article.

- Which bit is copyright? The map looks generic, the bars look generic, the data is data, not artistic.
