BRT Curitiba

[edit]

Thanks, please to help you. Regarding my mistake about "bus stops" and "stations" it was due to my lack of knowledge about BRT system of Curitiba. Anyway, I reverted my edits into that categories. Regards. --Dэя-Бøяg 01:23, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You for the Wikipedia Pictures

[edit]

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware pictures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ES_JoyadeCeren_06_2011_Estructura_9_Area_2_Tamazcal_2106_zoom_out.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ES_SanAndres_06_2011_Estructura_1_La_Acropolis_2161.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tazumal_Panorama_5.jpg). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA

Toyota Prius image

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you spelled "Prius" wrong (as "Pruis") in your image below. Mattbrundage (talk) 17:16, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for let me know about the typo. Now I am quite busy, I will try to fix it (upload a corrected version) by next weekend.--Mariordo (talk) 03:53, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I still have not had the time to fix it, but I plan to update the data to include 2012 sales and fix the typo during July.--Mariordo (talk) 18:39, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao Mariordo :) i have see your upload in this category: Category:Salão Internacional do Automóvel 2014 São Paulo. how is it possible that there is no photograph of a car FIAT which are the best selling cars and modern of Brazil? I thought maybe you forgot to charge them, if you have them can you upload to commons? There is a terrible shortage of Fiat Brazil on wikimedia commons, new road, new prizes, grand siena, new line, new one, new Doblò, new idea .. :( is really depressing, you could help commons in this sense? Thanks hello . BUON ANNO :) --Pava (talk) 00:09, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PS

I've noticed that you've never visited Italy (the beautiful country) but you have visited other European countries much more ugly :D .. I am very sorry, you are welcome in Italy, we come to the EXPO Milano 2015? Hello thanks again. --Pava (talk) 00:12, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Pava, unfortunately I only took pictures of green cars at the show, and Fiat didn't have any. I have been trying to travel to Italy for a long time, and visit at least Rome, Venice and Florence, but I need at least two weeks to accomplish this goal. I hope 2015 will be the year. Cheers and happy 2015--Mariordo (talk) 02:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ok thank you :) if you see Fiat automobiles in Brazil and if you want, take it with a camera or smartphone. Wikimedia commons is very poor in brazilian automobiles :( . Thank you and happy new year --Pava (talk) 19:01, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Fusion paint

[edit]

Regarding these pictures: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2013_Ford_Fusion_Hybrid_trim.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:2013_Ford_Fusion_Hybrid.jpg The paint, especially on the doors, looks to have faint black swirls in it. I suppose it could be a reflection of the foreground, but there doesn't appear to be anything there that would cause this. Is it some kind of weird paint, or an artifact of being a digital image?

Hi there. The original pic is not mine. My guess is that the image is low resolution in bad lighting, so when you adjust contrast it gets distorted. Cheers.--Mariordo (talk) 03:14, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am just temporarily uploading the full image, so that it will pass the Flickr review. Once that's done, I will revert it back to the cropped version. Elisfkc (talk) 03:07, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Elisfkc, but it doesn't work that way. The bot requested an admin, he will check manually and passed the pic. I have uploaded dozens of cropped/derivative works without any problem. The way you did I will have to upload the derivative separately and link to the original. I would appreciate if you restore the version I uploaded initially, the file is already in use in three articles (ant the original shows the car very small to show the green sticker). Cheers.--Mariordo (talk) 03:10, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Already done, both what I wanted from it and what you wanted. Elisfkc (talk) 03:12, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File:Rio 01 2013 TransOeste 5819.JPG

[edit]

Why are the faces censored in File:Rio 01 2013 TransOeste 5819.JPG? Can this image be re-uploaded without censorship? People in public have no expectation of privacy. Commons should not accept censored images because they are an insult to the art of documentary photography. Belnik Asrick (talk) 02:56, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a matter of expectation of privacy or art, please read the policy about photographs of identifiable people, which varies by country. In the particular case of Brazil, consent is needed for just taking a photograph of one or more identifiable people, not to mention publishing it and/or using it commercially even if the person is in a public place (and the Commons license always allows commercial use!). Check the list of Country specific consent requirements, in Brazil the consent is required by law. Therefore, I can not attend your request. Cheers.--Mariordo (talk) 03:08, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File:BEV EPA range comparison 2016-2017 MY priced under 50K US.png

[edit]

Hi! I see that the Ioniq Electric (2017) with combined EPA-rated range of 124 mi (200 km) is missing. You should add it when you have time. I will also say that the new upgraded 2017 E-Golf is said to achieve an EPA-estimated range of 125 mi (but I think it is not confirmed yet). SideMaster (User SideMaster) 18:55, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion, I will update it as soon as I have some time available. Cheers.--Mariordo (talk) 22:26, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I really like this graph. In addition to the update provided by Sidemaster, the following two vehicles seem to fall into the 2016-2017 MY period - http://www.motoring.com.au/ford-focus-electric-has-range-boosted-to-185km-104765/?gclid=COHMwOKR9NICFYWXvQodvFAAuA and http://www.motoring.com.au/renault-reveals-long-range-zoe-104112/ — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 49.197.182.195 (talk) 12:45, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestion. Nevertheless note that the graph only includes EPA-rated models. The Zoe is not available in the U.S., and because only has a NEDC rated range it is not possible to include, because of difference in testing methods. The NEDC test results in much higher driving ranges than EPA's (it is well-known that NEDC is very lax as compared to EPA). I will check for the EPA-rating for the Focus. Right now I am quite busy, so I expect to do these changes in early April. Cheers and thx again.--Mariordo (talk) 13:15, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Update done. All other EV models rated as of March 26, 2017 were included.Mariordo (talk) 15:22, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to give attribution

[edit]

Hi Mariordo,

How does one attribute the pictures to the original photographer. What format and where are you expecting it? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.113.46.215 (talk) 22:33, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. You just add in the caption or somewhere else "Picture taken by xxxx license under the Creative Commons yyyy" (just copy the description of the license accompanying the photo). Sometimes the author explicitly request how their name is to be credited. In my case, when asked, I prefer "Mario R. Durán Ortiz" - Cheers.Mariordo (talk) 22:41, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Top selling electric cars

[edit]

Could you please correct the caption of your graph, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Top_countries_plug-in_ownership_per_1000_people_2018.png ? The numbers are apparently the market share of EV's sold in a given year by place rather than the total fraction of EVs in the place as stated in the caption. Thanks. Fotoguru (talk) 13:24, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fotoguru. This graph is NOT about market share. It is the total number of registered EVs divided by the population of the country (stock of vehicles per capita) for a given year. Ownership per capita changes every year, and in the transportation field the convention is to report it by 1000 inhabitants. Check here for further clarification of this parameter. I hope this clarifies your question.--Mariordo (talk) 13:54, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging copyvios

[edit]

Hi, When tagging copyright violations, please inform the uploader. This is best done using the gagdet. See in your preferences to enable them, tab "Gadget", section "Maintenance tools" : "AjaxQuickDelete" and "Quick delete". These add links in the left column (or right column for Hebrew, Arabic, etc., language interface). Regards, Yann (talk) 06:17, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Mariordo,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Thanks,

Making a request here as I can't see the email button anywhere? Anyway, love your photo of the San Frangisk in Venice. Is it possible to use this on our ferry page? Of course we will credit but just wanted permission first.

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Sketch La Isabela SDQ 10 2019 1056.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Update on EV market share

[edit]

Could you perhaps update your graph on EV market share? More recent figures are here. On the IEA site, I found the following numbers for 2023: Norway 93 Finland 54 Iceland 71 Sweden 60 Denmark 46 China 38 NL 35 Germany 24. Thanks! KarlFrei (talk) 11:06, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I will very soon. Cheers. Mariordo (talk) 12:38, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi KarlFrei. I am already working in the new graph, but in order to keep strict top markets by market share I included three new countries that achieved a plug-in uptake of 30% or higher, which were Belgium, Portugal, and Switzerland. In the top group by sales volume, I included France and the UK. In addition, several IEA figures did not match ACEA figures, so I choose ACEA as a source to be consistent with the market share table in the article Electric car use by country. I will let you know when the updated graph is uploaded. Cheers - Mariordo (talk) 06:27, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done! -Mariordo (talk) 18:43, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Updated to 2023 with figures from ACEA (European countries) and IEA (rest of countries and regions).
And this other too

This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Clodomiro serpiente.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Clodomiro serpiente.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello Mariordo.

You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful.

This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions.

Please stop your disruptive behavior, and do not issue warnings nor threats of blocking me. I have posted over 26.000 images in the Wikimedia Commons since 2007, and only a few have been deleted for copyvio. On the other hand, you are doing nonymous editing and you are not allowed to edit from your IP address. Next time I will report you to an Admin to block you.--.
