- It really is my own work, it was taken in Brighton. I just opted not to attribute it to myself. I am unsure how to prove this. I can try to find the original photo on my old camera, but chances after this much time has passed are slim. Suggestion? Philip.t.day (talk) 19:23, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

- Not in this case. Just to put your mind at ease, here is some evidence to prove my innocence
- Second edit: Looking at the statistics of the camera used, and cross referencing this with many of the other images I have uploaded such as here, here, here and here, to name a few: will show that it is indeed me. They also show a link between many of these images and Brighton Collage, a place where you may note Neil currently works. Cheers! Country of origin is Germany. For this 1895 photo, we can assume first publication prior to 1923, so it's PD in the US. But it's only PD in Germany if either the photographer died more than 70 years ago or if it's {{Anonymous-EU}}. The immediate image source seems to be a 2009 book (see copy of this photo in the German Wikipedia at de:Datei:Badener Salon 1895, jährliche Kunstausstellung im Konversationshaus Baden-Baden.JPG) where probably no photographer is named (the German Wikipedia's description says "unbekannt"). But this doesn't mean that the original publication in 1895 or so was anonymous, so I think we can't just assume that it's Anonymous-EU without having seen in what manner the original was published. This is a suspicious case. New versions were uploaded without changing the description. From this version one can see it's a screenshot of some website. - I doubt if this photo (a gate of Wuhan University) was really taken by the uploader. According to User talk:Evawen and User:Georgezhao, it was found other photos, which was claimed as own works of these users on the same topic, were deleted because of copyright violation. - We seem to be stuck in a merry-go-round of images of this mosque being deleted and then a whole load more being uploaded again. Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Sheikh Zayed Mosque only happened in July. If the category is kept because of some images being de minimis, then a note should be put-up on the category page about the lack of FOP - that might of least slow down the amount of inappropriate uploads. [edit]In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for 70 years after the death of the creator. An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception freedom of panorama (FOP). Unfortunately there is no applicable FOP exception in United Arab Emirates.

None of the photos nominated show the metallic sculpture in incidental ways. Since the commemorated event concluded in 1995, the monument is likely copyrighted and its sculptor has not been dead for more than 70 years.

- I am not certain we can use {{PD-Poland}}. The law underlying that template requires that the image was published in Poland before 1994. The image was published in the Saturday Evening Post on November 5, 1949; it may or may not be in the public domain. Even if the image is public domain, the uploader cannot release this file under a CC license because it is a faithful reproduction of the original work. (Although the uploader claims to have photographed the image at an art show, the halftone pattern suggests that it was scanned from a book. - How unknown is the author of this image? Some sites -- like http://citizendium.org -- require contributors to submit their resume, and establish a connection to their real world identity. This image was from myspace, which, like the wikipedia and wikimedia commons, does not take steps to confirm contributors' real world identity. Wikimedia contributors who upload images they say they have taken don't generally have their credibility challenged, unless there are clues, or a pattern, that suggest deceit, or a pattern of misunderstanding our policies.
