Mandala
Can you provide a source for your description of the image in Mandala? If it really does feature Vairocana & co, then it's probably a Diamond Realm (Vajradhatu) mandala, not a Womb Realm (Garbhadhatu) mandala... User:Jpatokal
- I do not remember which images exactly I used to identify the mandala. The description comes from: Louis Frédéric: Buddhismus - Götter, Bilder und Skulpturen, Éditions Flammarion, Paris 2003, ISBN 2-08-021001-7
- Now I found another image of a Taizo-kai/Garbhadhatu-mandala which seems to fit the image here at commons: [1].
- To identify it without doubt, it would be interesting to know what exactly distinguishes the two mandalas. I will try to find descriptions to do so. --Tsui (talk) 20:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey there, Image:Koh Phangan Longtail1.jpg is currently untagged. All images need a licence else they may be deleted. Thanks, Joolz 19:06, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

No there is no reason for the sustitution except that frequently I have problems in incorporating images to the spanish articles and I am obliged to download the image from wikipedia and uploaded it in Commons so it can eb used in the spanish version. I don't why this happens, but it does. Please, feel free of replacing the original picture. Regards --18:13, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Jose Montalvo

"Permanent"
Perhaps the best way to think of what "permanent" means in the context of Panoramafreiheit is that it means unbefristet. Most buildings and statues are "permanent" because they're not up for a predetermined amount of time. An ad painted on the side of a building, on the other hand, is almost certainly subjected to a contract for a fixed amount of time only. I'm not a lawyer though -- I have no idea if this is how German courts actually interpret "permanent", but it seems like a plausible definition. Angr 15:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Vietnam_Haiphong.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vietnam_Haiphong.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Kategorisierung "BBuk&etc"
WeHaWoe 18:42, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
--Tsui 18:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Was hältst Du davon?
--Tsui 19:09, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Hahn+Schmied, +BIG TX
-- lg, WeHaWoe 16:00, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Gruß, Tsui 21:22, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Bin also heilfroh, dass 1.
So ab 20080520-19:00 GZ. (=local time) Falls Du bis morgen nix tust, sprech' ich mal beim Ö-Portal vor -- DIE erinnern sich bestimmt noch an mich ;) WeHaWoe 12:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Wrong location?

SG -- Otto Normalverbraucher (talk) 02:34, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Gerne geschehen.
Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:27, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Pagoda01.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Pagoda01.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Hi. You really want File:Thomas D., Donauinselfest 2009 h.jpg deleted? It seems a bit clearer than the one you want to replace it with. Wknight94 talk 18:01, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Thank you for asking! To be honest, I cannot decide which of the two is better. Both are noisy and a bit blurry. I edited the image several times in slightly different ways and accidentaly loaded up two versions. If you think version h is better than version i I have no objections if you delete the latter instead of the one I supposed. --Tsui (talk) 18:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Hallo Tsui!

Hallo Tsui.
Gruss, Sandro (talk) 11:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hallo Tsui!
Was spricht gegen die Umbenennung von Category:Tschernobyl und Fukushima Gedenkveranstaltung (Wien 2011-04-25) in Category:Commemoration ceremony for Chernobyl and Fukushima (Vienna 2011-04-25). Gruß, High Contrast (talk) 21:20, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
--80.109.63.190 22:40, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

- I am sorry, but I am rather unfamiliar with climbing. I took the pictures of all the climbers when I had the chance to get an accreditation as a photographer for the Boulder Worldcup in Vienna. Apart from that I have no real relation to this sport. --Tsui (talk) 00:48, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I just want to confirm - where did you get the file? Somebody has emailed us claiming copyright on the image. Rjd0060 (talk) 00:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- I took it at the charity event "Dancer against Cancer" ([2]) 2010 where I had an accreditation as a photographer (other images from that event: Category:Dancer Against Cancer 2010).
- However, since it is not used anywhere and the biographical article about Mr. Schaumburg-Lippe on de.wikipedia was deleted I would not mind, if it gets deleted. During the discussion preceding the deletion of the biography ([3]) he himself or someone in his name or someone pretending to be him (Benutzer:PrinzzuSchaumburgLippe) alleged that the picture was meant to depict him as unsound or unprofessional. That was not my intention. On the contrary, taking part in a charity event is something quite honorable in my view. But anyway, it seems he doesn't like it (and the mail you recieved came from him or his office I assume), so I would say: delete it. It just seems to cause unnecessary troubles. --Tsui (talk) 00:42, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Hm .. I've just removed the scanner artifacts, converted to grayscale, contrasted and centered a bit. The old version is always available in the file history. I guess you don't agree that my edit is an improvement. I am curious why? Materialscientist (talk) 10:36, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- The image is scanned from a book published in 1859. There it is the reproduction of some kind of etching or rather a drawing, so the dots and hatching etc. are inherent parts of the picture, just like the strokes of brushes in paintings, not artifacts or distortions. Also the texture (and color) of the paper is part of the image. That is how it looks like. Blurring it until all the details vanish distorts the picture. --Tsui (talk) 13:35, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Appropriately Licensed
You participated at the earlier discussion on licence choice for Featured Pictures. A number of users felt that such restrictions should be made at policy level. Please comment at Commons:Requests for comment/AppropriatelyLicensed. This is a proposal to amend this licence policy to disallow future uploads where the sole licence is inappropriate for the media (e.g., GFDL for images). In earlier discussions there were a number of comments that, while reasonable opinions, did not align with Wikimedia's mission for free content. Please read the FAQ before commenting.
