Hi Tiven2240, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

File:Enitharmon Editions Logo.jpg & other files

Hi Tiven2240,

you recently deleted a couple of files on the page 'Enitharmon Press' because of copyright violation. How can we rectify the situation? I'm working for the publisher Enitharmon Press and they have asked me to include their logo and the book covers - they of course own the copyright and have released it under the Commons Licence for Wikipedia. Mariasusername (talk) 19:20, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, @Mariasusername: if u surely work for the same I would request you inorder to have a safe side send the permissions to wikimedia foundation to use the images under creative Commons license (whichever u want) through OTRS. For further how to send permission through OTRS kindly see THIS OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION. Hope I have answered your query if have more assistance needed do feel to hit my talkpage again :) --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 02:24, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Hi Tiven2240, your response was very helpful indeed! I have written a request through OTRS and am waiting for a reply. Thanks so much for your help with this. Best wishes. Mariasusername (talk) 18:49, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks!

Sorry for the very slow response...I have been offline. At this remove, I have no idea, unfortunately...it is not obvious from your edit log. This may have been a case where, when a discussion became dramatic, I left this message for both parties as a request to cool the discussion down. - Reventtalk 09:49, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Wrong tagging

Can you explain this? I believe it was a wrong tag. Please use it only when the uploader claims to release something on behalf of someone else or someone else already published it before. If you have other doubt about the file, you can nominate it for deletion explaining your rationale there. --202.214.231.201 00:14, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Same applies to [1] and [2] and potentially many other files you have tagged. --210.149.251.73 03:48, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
What do you think? Would you admit it was wrong or do you have a counter argument? --210.130.191.224 11:12, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
The IP is right. If you doubt that the uploader is the copyright holder, use the DR instead of the npd tag. I tagged the Kurti image though as copyvio, but it isn't still right to tag it as "no permission". I use "no permission" only if the name in the author field is very different to the uploader, the author in the EXIF data is very different to the uploader, it was published on another site by a person different to the uploader, or it is a complex logo (though I mostly tag them as copyvio). Poyekhali 23:52, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

@Poyekhali: thanks for your message I next time will start a DR for the same.--✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 09:09, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I tried to review this file but it does not seem to be on YouTube anymore. How do you know it is PD ? — Racconish ☎ 09:42, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Racconish: Thanks for the same. While I was checking up my uploads today I've noticed that there is some issue with this file. The file was available on YouTube and the day I had uploaded since than there was no license review of the video. The video as you can see I haven't uploaded by upload wizard it has been uploaded by me via Commons:video2commons and it's traces you can find there. As u were tagging the image I was making a study of it and I found your notification now. The video originally is from Travel Film Archive. And I am sure it is published 1930's but there is no clear indication that the website owns the films copyright as it's policies are somewhat unclear. Please investigate in this matter your help will surely be needed in the same. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:13, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
The clip is from Gateway to India, an American documentary film from 1932 by James A. Fitzpatrick [3]. As it is American and not Indian, you should make a US copyright renewal search. Do you know how to do this ? — Racconish ☎ 10:36, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Racconish: I am not aware how to do it. Can u please give me some tips so I may too know this procedure in future --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:39, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

This should help. FYI Fitzpatrick's later traveltalks are copyrighted by MGM. Keep me posted Clin. — Racconish ☎ 10:44, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Racconish: What about the one I have uploaded is it copyrighted? --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:49, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Based on this, it seems all Fitzpatrick's 1932 traveltalks were copyrighted by MGM. I did not find the exact same title but the film on Mumbai was likely a sequence of a longer traveltalk. — Racconish ☎ 10:55, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
@Racconish: so what do u suggest me to do further as it is not clear. Should this matter be taken to AN or a DR or anything else. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 11:03, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
It's up to you to keep digging. I doubt it is PD as the film was "commissioned" by MGM.... but the matter is not clear [4]. @Yann: a second opinion please. — Racconish ☎ 11:09, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
This takes a long time to investigate, so not today. Sorry. Yann (talk) 10:01, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
@Yann: I investigated it myself and found no catalog evidence but a claim on copyright and started the DR below. — Racconish ☎ 10:08, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Files uploaded by Leire Cano

Hi Tiven, I am working as a Wikipedian in Residence on a project related to Basque literature for children and youth. We have publishers' permissions to publish these images.--Leire Cano (talk) 17:21, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Moreover, some files requested for deletion had already been accepted after a deletion request. Leire Cano is working as a Wikimedian in residence in a library and she is realising into free license a good number of book covers, with the collaboration of the publishers and with their explicite permission.--Xabier Cañas (talk) 18:44, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Tagging No permission

Why do you mark such images with „No permission“? The photographer is indicated. He seems identical to the uploader. Under source / approval, own work is indicated. Hystrix (talk) 01:23, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Tiven2240, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited User:Tiven2240/massrename.js. Glad to see you coding in javascript! Have you ever considered becoming a MediaWiki hacker?
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 4 new jshint issues — the page's status is now having warnings. Note that invalid or ambiguous code often has unwanted side effects like breaking other tools for you. If you cannot find out how to fix it, I suggest blanking the page for now.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine. If you prefer not getting spammed by me, you can opt-out reports by adding {{ValidationOptOut|type=all}} to your user page or cmb-opt-out anywhere on your your global user page on Meta. Good luck at Wikimedia Commons and happy hacking!

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Hi Tiven. This is #39, but who's counting? Russavia has 1000+ locked socks. I don't intend to do any more vandal edits unless somebody gives me a problem. As for my socking, that's not going to stop in these five years at least. I did 1 million edits here and 500,000 log actions as an admin. I enjoy editing on Commons, and I plan to continue for a long time to come. You've got to do what you've got to do. Why should I let some other volunteer on here, who's done far less work than I have, tell me what to do? That's not happening. Russavia has been doing this for almost three years. He's eaten up quite a bit of the available Hola! proxies, but there are plenty left. If necessary I'll use a paid VPN. But it's no big deal. It's a website and I like it. I spend most of my time categorizing plant and insect images anyways. There are other blocked and locked people editing here. They've chosen to hide it, while me and Russavia haven't. Let me just say congratulations to Guanaco on his adminship. He's a good replacement for me... Take care both of you, and have a good night. I try my best (talk) 01:31, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Rename declined

You are declined my petition to rename this 3 files:

My reason is To harmonize the names of a SET OF IMAGES: so that only one part of all names differs. (Rationale according to the policy, number 4). This is for the set defined in Template:Other versions/Osmotic pressure on blood cells diagram (with the proposed names for the three files yet updated). Then your reason to decline my petition not can be: Files should NOT be renamed only because the filename is not English.

Please, reconsider my request.

File without source (url)

Hello, I've notice a File, File:副總長執行官陳寶餘.jpg, does not have any source (url) for verification, only the name of publisher (Military News Agency in Taiwan) is given. Is it necessary to add a {{No source since}} to it? --Howard61313 (talk) 14 February 2018 (Wed) 04:03 (UTC)

@Howard61313: as per this image is concerned the Military News Agency in Taiwan has not released its rights for this image. Hence it is a copyright violation. Whereas if the work is not own there must be a source available on the image. U can add {{Copyvio}} if it is a copyright violation and {{No source since}} if there is no valid source.--✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 04:13, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Is it possible that the situation here is more likely to be the latter one (no valid source given)? The problem for the file above is that it lacks the source.--Howard61313 (talk) 14 February 2018 (Wed) 04:36 (UTC)

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2018 is open!

Dear Tiven2240,

You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in R1 of the 2018 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2018) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked.

In the final (and current) round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2018.

Round 2 will end 17 March 2019, 23:59:59.

Fix an image uploaded by you

Hello, Tiven, could you try to rectify Dog-2617516 1920.jpg yourself? It seems the original source is Is this even edible? (freestocks.org). At least this is the oldest incarnation I found and they give an individual author. The file is also much bigger there. The license is CC0 according to their Terms of Use; I could review the license after you made your changes. Also, the file name is unfortunate now (and some more categories, at least {{c|Puppies} or a sub cat). BTW there are more images with this puppy (in parts hilarious ones) in their category animals. — Speravir – 00:13, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

@Speravir: I have made the necessary changes. Since as per FR I am unaware of the species of the Puppy so am not at this moment renaming it. As a request comes we can do it. Hope this helps in continuing your LR. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:48, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
✓ Done Yes, you are right with not changing the name. I had to upload the bigger version from freestocks.org as separate file and afterwards to tag your uploaded version as duplicate, but so we have to leave it as it is. — Speravir – 17:45, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Girls Sanitary Pad Making Machine.webm, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. Hi Tiven2240, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Majora/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

This is my first time creating a Wikipedia, this is a picture owned by me and I’ve given the permission to use. I reposted because I did not know why it was deleted to begin with and didn’t see a reason in protesting my own picture. Why was my picture deleted? Speedy deleted. What did I do wrong? Realahve (talk) 16:16, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Personal photographs

I’m not sure if I am supposed to respond here, but I have tried to upload and didn’t understand why my photo was deleted. This is my photo taken by me and it was speedy deleted. What is the issue. I’ve given permission to use. Was there something wrong that I clicked on. This is my first time creating my Wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Realahve (talk • contribs) 16:12, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of my recent files uploads

Hello Tiven2240 , I hope you're doing well. I noticed that some of the pictures I have recently uploaded to the Wiki Commons have been deleted. I believe I had followed all the proper steps and guidelines. Can I know why they have been removed, as I am the author of those pictures, therefore have all the rights on them? I would love for you to help me with this. Thank you! Stephanie.bujold (talk) 16:41, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi! before just putting a template on a file, please check the file history! Someone uploaded another photo onto the original, which was released under cc. Instead of just tagging, you can simple revert to the original file. Thanks Teemeah (talk) 10:10, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Dear @Teemeah: Simple revert dosent works. We have to delete the non free versions. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:13, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
well, I can't do that. But simply tagging the file for deletion without any comment doesn't help. We don't want the cc licenced version to get deleted too. An admin can delete the historical versions. Teemeah (talk) 11:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Tiven2240 (not Tiven2280),

मुझे आपको फिर से परेशान करने के लिए खेद है, सर। (I am sorry to bother you again, sir)

16 days ago (21-Apr-2020), you marked a Wikimedia PNG media file (File:Adobe Sayspring Founder Mark Christopher Webster Presents At Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator Demo Day in April 2017.png) as "This media may be deleted!" and "Unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days."

The same day (21-Apr-2020), I emailed the copyright license release authorization to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Please see copy of email at:

Comments Regarding Flickrwashing

Hello Tiven2240,

I hope you are doing well. You flagged some photos I uploaded about a week ago. There have been no comments on the photos since then, so I thought of reaching out to you directly to discuss this. I am not Flickrwashing photos. The photos you have tagged were sent to me by the actual people in the photo who themselves uploaded the photos to Flickr and allowed for the photos to be in public domain. I reach out to people asking for their photos for their articles. When some people send their photos along with an email to OTRS, they have to send multiple emails back and forth to the OTRS to confirm ownership. I thought this Flickr process would be easier for them. What is the best way to ask someone to declare permission for using a photo they own?HRShami (talk) 06:49, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@HRShami: Thanks for your message. Since these account were new and only one upload that is the similar pattern we see here of Flickr washing. As per commons is concerned we have only one way to confirm authorship and that's through OTRS. I don't find Flickr a way out as it's not possible for us to verify whether that the accounts are official or authentic. Thereby I urge you to kindly only follow OTRS process (I understand the difficulties) so that we have necessary documentation of release of copyright. Since commons takes Copyright Violation very strictly these procedures are necessary. Hope you understand our efforts in making Wikimedia Commons free from copyright violations. Thanks --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 08:50, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Regarding Speedy tags

Hello @Tiven2240: , I think that you may be mistaken regarding those speedy tag. It's my belief though. You may be right. I don't disagree with you at all. WWW is a vast network of resources, it easy we can find anything. I accept that I didn't quite a lot mistake regarding copyright, and I will own it. But I do believe I'm trying to understand, make good edit and upload files which are acceptable, like creative commons. And the image files Vilen and Arjun was not a violation. Could be please see the source. And I like your work hatsoff. Thany C1K98Vrespond 14:29, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

@C1K98V: I am very sorry to inform you that almost all of your uploads from YouTube are copyright violations. Please note that all that you see on the web is not free. Kindly read through COM:L before uploading any media on Wikimedia commons. Continued uploading copyrighted material on Wikimedia Commons will reward you a block. Hope you understand. @స్వరలాసిక: I am sorry I have no idea if it's really possible. Because as per local wikipedia policies all living people cannot have their image under fairuse because it is possible that somewhere in future we will have a free image available of them. Ask guidance at COM:VP regarding post stamps. I am not aware of your Wikipedia because I haven't volunteered there if it's possible you will have to again upload them on local site. Thanks for uploading File:Erica Fernandes.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Erica Fernandes.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

File:Erica Fernandes.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Explain how reviewed photos from Wiki Loves Folklore

Could you please explain to me, how reviewed photos from Wiki Loves Folklore. Especially, Category:Images from Wiki Loves Folklore 2020 in Bangladesh. Exemple, File:Tattva Gaye Holud and Snan.jpg, File:Bengali Hindu Wedding - Dress.jpg and File:Beautiful Garo lady.jpg are copied from FB. This is just random files, there are many more files which are personal and out of project scope. You are responsible image reviewer and you should know those think better then me. Tiven2240 I'd like to request and suggest you do not use Cat-a-lot and review each photo individually while checking out photographic of an (International) competition.

While reviewing photography of an (International) competition, we must look into following points.

  • Copyright/Google Images - Make sure copyright/google Images or not, if yes then use {{Speedydelete}}
  • Image title - Check file is correct, if not then rename that file or use {{Rename}}.
  • Description - If description is wrong then correct it. If possible, try to describe in English and other languages. Review also those photos that don't tell where they took them, but give them a message on their talk page about it.
  • Category - Add to appropriate subcategories, create if the category is not in Commons.
  • Metadata - Check metadata information, If the uploader's name and metadata information do not match, then it may be another name of the uploader, so be sure to mail or message the uploader and ask him/her to explain.
  • Pictures outside the competition - If an image is outside the contest, remove all contest templates and categories and add another category appropriate to Commons.

Wikilover90 I think we have to review all photos again otherwise we could be failed out project mission. I've checked it on one random category and we don't know about other categories. Thank you! Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 10:58, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Dear @ZI Jony: The category was added automatically by customized upload wizard and was used to track images for the work of jury. once the jury work was over I had used Cat a lot to remove the tracking category. what wrong do you feel in that? --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 11:47, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
Hi @Tiven2240: , I know process of customized upload wizard, automatically Category:Images from Wiki Loves Folklore 2020 to check added so that during review time we can check each photo individually. I just suggested above point to point how to review photography of an (International) competition, and not to use Cat-a-lot. thanks for your understanding. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:53, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Dear @ZI Jony: , thank you for your message. I would like to inform you that the above category is "to check" category which was automatically added by upload wizard during the contest. The purpose of the same was to check whether we have added all the images to our Montage tool (it was used as our tracking category). Unlike last year we had used the category for reviewing individually as accepted or not accepted. This year we used Montage tool for that. This was no longer needed as we had completed jury work and were about to declare results. Thereby I had removed it to avoid confusion. Also remember this is to check category which you have wrongly assumed to be as to review. Review work is done by our categorisation team and I have been informed that you are part of it. I am happy to see you volunteering for it. Hope this explaination helps. Feel free to ask clearifications if you need. Thank you and Best regards. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 15:07, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

License review requests

Hello, would you take some time to review my license reviewer request (any maybe ask me some questions)? My request has gone past 3 days, and I hope my addition to the license reviewer team can help with the appalling number of backlog, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 12:13, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

I have reverted your tagging of File:Phillips Academy Andover Coat of Arms.svg as a copyvio. In terms of copyright, logos are no different from any other work, and are in the public domain if published prior to 1925 in the US, see {{PD-US-expired}}. The only right that the owner still retains is trademark rights, which are not considered relevant to Commons (COM:NCR). -- King of ♥ 18:30, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

@King of Hearts: Thanks for the information. Best wishes --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 06:33, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Tiven2240. Do you think it’s a copyvio. I have searched on google but didn’t find anything. Still this image seems suspicious to me.মোহাম্মাদ ইসমাইল (talk) 04:40, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Dear @মোহাম্মাদ ইসমাইল: The image seems uploaded in 2013. Whereas Google search are somewhat recent around 2019. This dosent seems copyvio. But there is no proper metadata information available of the image. Thank you --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 05:10, 25 July 2020 (UTC)

Description for one of the images from WLF

Hi Tiven,

I saw that you added a very helpful description for one of the images for WLF. I have currently nominated that image as a FI and someone is asking questions that I unfortunately can't answer. I would be grateful for your help here. Thank you for looking into this! Kritzolina (talk) 16:31, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

File:1-rupees-2011-obs.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello, @Tiven2240. I was doing some template and campaign editing yesterday and I saw that you undid some of them. May I ask why? I made sure that they do not affect the current categorization and other structural elements of the contest campaign. Can I ask what happened? Cheers, EPorto (WMB) (talk) 16:52, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi @EPorto (WMB) I saw some extra texts and a number of red categories displayed on the images. This was creating confusion to the uploaders and since the contest is live and in order to avoid confusion I had no choice but to revert the edits. Also we already have a template to categorise the images uploaded during Wiki Loves Folklore Competition via the configured Upload Wizard. As mentioned on the template talk kindly help us understand the new features in the template upgrade that was made. Please try to do edits in the sandbox before changing Live templates as this creates confusion among the uploaders. Thanks for understanding --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 17:42, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Commons:Wiki Loves Folklore 2024/International Team has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this project page, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

In addition, I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request: not including year, month, or day; not creating the subpage; not notifying; and not transcluding. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. Warning: such edits are not tolerated and have led to account blocks, as "We cannot work here with people who are not willing to follow our procedures, in particular for deletion requests."   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:00, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Jeff G. Thank you for your message. I just can't believe this message of warnings of blocks are sent to me who have done something such for the first time that too from an experienced user like you. Sounds disappointing --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 11:24, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Hm - I find this a very saddening dialogue. Can we conclude it by making sure that both now know how to avoid similar problems in the future? Winning Folk-Video/2024 by Azimronnie: Licence-Violation on 14. Juli 2024 (...and for the second time by User Azimronnie)

A winning video can be absolutely and unreservedly expected to be entirely an independent achievement; a license violation was committed again (!) on July 14, 2024 and the entire video was completely declared as an independent service: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Traditional_fishing_festival.webm&diff=prev&oldid=898529478&uselang=de - RULES: Copyright violations and Vandalism will be strictly dealt with and can even lead a block. - Unfortunately, that is the truth about the so-called "winning video from July 14, 2024 by Azimronnie" (and for the second time). 2003:ED:D708:75CA:2C4B:6AE3:1A65:B0E7 06:31, 19 July 2024 (UTC) - Ps.: You knew about the license violations (Audio) from March 29th. & 14.07. really not?: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Traditional_fishing_festival.webm&action=history&uselang=de - --2003:ED:D708:75CA:2C4B:6AE3:1A65:B0E7 10:12, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

Jurytools

Hi Tiven,

it was great meeting you at Wikimania in Katowice.

Here some information about our Jurytools

We use two tools

  • one is for the prejuy
  • one is for the jury

Everyone with an account can judge as many pictures he likes during the prejurytime via the prejurytool. The jury members decide how many pictures the want to judge after prejury time. The get the best pictures elected by the prejury. The jury members can judge the pictures in as many rounds as the like. (Normaly there a two rounds in Germany round about 800 pictures for the first round, 100 pictures for the second round).

I can offer you the links but at the moment they aren't in use because there is not competion right now.

These are the links for the prejurytool:

This is orignally developed by Ruben Demus from Wikimedia Austria. The German version is hosted by WMDE and you could ask User:Sandro Halank (WMDE)

The prejurytool can be used by everyone with an account via OAuth. The pictures are shown randomly. Maybe you could try judging during September for Wiki Loves Monuments Germany

These were the links for the Jurytools:

The tool is developed by User:Wiegels. The tool is used used by a certain amount of jury members during the last jury session. They get the pictures in a row (the pictures aren't shown randomly), It's possible to judge simultan or alone.

If I explained badly tell me, I will try to do it better :-) Z thomas 05:43, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Z thomas thank you for sharing the links. I will go through the links and get back to you if I require any further understanding. ✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 05:48, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Prize Distribution for Wiki Loves Folklore Winners

Hello Tiven, I have been contacted by one of the winners from Wiki Loves Folklore regarding the international prize money, which they have not yet received. It was supposed to be sent by August 15th. Could you please look into this matter? The delay from the prize distributors is significant, and it may negatively impact the perception of the WLF team in the local communities. I would appreciate it if you could resolve this swiftly. Thank you! iMahesh (talk) 08:35, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello @IM3847, the payment took longer than expected but it is now with our partner in India and I was told last week that all coupons would be sent within the next 10-15 days. Best, The other Kiwix guy (talk) 09:40, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. Bollywood Hungama

Hi, I think that the pictures of Priyanka Chopra are OK. The permission only says "images available on the Bollywood Hungama website. Regards, Yann (talk) 10:12, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

hi @Yann thanks. There is a flood of images on the internet of the same event and some are exactly same. Since these images are old they are already used in many pages on internet and google image search and TineEye results are confusing. ✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 10:32, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
Hi, Yes, that can be confusing, but it is quite normal to find Hungama images all over the Internet. Yann (talk) 10:38, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
