Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File:SUFAcommissioned.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello Sokuya.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

- geagea, I just cropped the file so I don't really care – but is it a copyright violation? I remember the photographer of the news channel upload it himself. I remembered it was organized move by the news company in order the have photos of all of theirs reporters articles. So I don't think its a violation, it also has the photo meta data. Sokuya (talk) 15:21, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- you can see that Eyal Ben Aish is the photographer cause he did another photoshoot to the news company's reporters couple of years after https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:יאיר_שרקי.jpg. The link to MAKO credit the news company. if its their company photographer that uploaded it there is no violation and the photo need to be kept. Sokuya (talk) 15:26, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

- @Geagea but it the same photographer who upload it from its own Wiki user, how its a copyright violation? He himself upload it to wikipedia. It's weird, I don't submit VRT permission to my own photos I took and upload as contributes to Wikipedia. I thought the VRT system is meant for a user that uploads someone else work not their own. I don't think it should be remove. We should solve it, the photographer uploaded it, he is not violating his own copyright. Sokuya (talk) 19:41, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- the procedure is that if file uploaded elsewhere in the net before it was uploaded to Commons VRT permission is required. Also if you see https://www.mako.co.il/culture-weekend/Article-22172bf8fc2ba51006.htm?sCh=7d61bdd9ccbc4310&pId=1471243973&Partner=mw it says "צילום: חדשות". So can't be sure that the photographer owns the copyright. Even if so we need clear statment thorough VRT (OTRS) from the photographer. -- Geagea (talk) 08:59, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Eyalbenyaish please read this discussion. Sokuya (talk) 21:48, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Geagea the "צילום: חדשות" doesn't mean they have the right, it means they took the photo from their own PR. There is no doubt Eyal took this picture, he did a whole session to the all reporters in the news room. It's like Israeli media give photo credit to Wikipedia (meaning "צילום: ויקיפדיה"), or presenting profile pictures of people from Facebook and tagging "צילום: פייסבוק". Its a poor sloppy job done by editors. not real copyright declaration Sokuya (talk) 21:53, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- If the file available elsewhere on the web before uploaded to Commons, VRT permission is required. This is Commons practice. I did not say they didn't take the photo. Just said that the copyright ownership is not entirely clear. -- Geagea (talk) 22:18, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File:Gafni (cropped).png has been marked as a possible copyright violation.
