Had seen it already. The reason why I am a bit more tough on discouraging uploads with visible watermark, is that — due to a recent legal expertise from WMF-legal and due to a recent ruling in Germany — we have to assume that at least in the US (highly relevant for Commons) and in Germany the removal of copyright-watermarks might be illegal. Hi @Rn3akk: The photos seem to be old and we need verification for the ownership because Commons respect copyright and rights of it's authors. Hi, I did not delete the image without a valid reason, The image was uploaded from here, according to the policy, if you upload the image other then yours, you need to provide the prof that the original author released the file under the free license via COM:OTRS. They don't have the rights for the image. They just used a photo from the Eliseu's library. Eliseu is a public person (a Minister) and himself asked me to change his wikipedia image. This is my obrigation and i am having so much trouble to this. Generally, the copyright holder of a photograph is the person who took the photograph, rather than a person who appears in it, unless the copyright is transferred by operation of law or contract. Removing "CFSignhandover.jpg", it has been deleted from Commons by NahidSultan because: Copyright violation

NahidSultan, can you please explain why you have deleted the photograph from the page? If you check the history you will see that 13:00, 2 April 2015‎ Kelapstick approved the image with the comments (→‎Classic Friendly: per talk page request, there is nothing spammy about this image. IT makes no mention of the particular garage, and is directly related to the section at hand.)I had posted a help request regarding the image as I am the owner of the image (I took the actual photograph and edited/blurred out any reference to the garage invovled).

UPDATE:- Image FuzzSignHandoverCF.jpg now approved via OTRS The permission to use this work has been archived in the Wikimedia OTRS system

I followed advice and went through full approval process which surprisingly took less than 2 hours to be resolved.

Stellar spectral type image

It's been a long time since I uploaded the image, but my recollection is that it was from NOAO, a government agency. Works by the U.S. government are normally in the public domain. There are exceptions, and perhaps one of them applies here, but with the upload page deleted, I have no way to get back to the original source and check the copyright status. --Yaush (talk) 18:05, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Ultima Ratio Regum infobox

Hi,

I recently tried uploading a screenshot of my game Ultima Ratio Regum to the URR wikipedia page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Ratio_Regum_(video_game) ) which was recently created (since I noted that "an image" was listed as something to improve it). However, it was then removed from Commons, although I obviously hold the copyright for it (since I created it!). I therefore don't see how it can be a copyright violation for something I made. I'm very new to Wikipedia, and copyright law is not exactly my academic forte, and I confess, I don't understand why it was removed. Did I upload it in the wrong way, or with the wrong license? I'm keen to help the page grow and fix the issues noted at the top of the page and upload a suitable image (and that one illustrates the game extremely well), but I'm really puzzled about why the image was taken down. Hi, Sorry for replying late, I was busy with real my life stuffs. However, All we really needed to know was what you just said; that you are the copyright holder for the image. Could you please send an email to OTRS via permissions-commonswikimedia.org too using this email consent? Commons has a huge issue with people finding images online and then uploading them as their own work, so we can sometimes be overzealous in making sure that people actually have the right to release what they are releasing. Once the email procedure is done, an otrs agent restore the file for you and a note will be added to the image so that this will not happen again. I apologize for the inconvenience. Hi, France copyright rules says "Copyright protection expires 70 years after the death of the original author (who is defined as the creator or designer) here." Since there is no freedom of panorama I believe the designer of the building was the author. Hi Paracel63, The image was deleted because of copyright violation. Though after reviewing further I've restored the file. It's sometime very difficult to find the original source of images online because many of them just use them without mentioning the source. I've checked all the images found on the internet and saw that commons revision was much older than all of them. So it's pretty obvious that they used the file from here hence restored. Image deletion

I unintentionally transferred some personal user image from flickr to commons. Can you delete those one by one? May be 40-50 image have to be deleted. Go to my upload list page and start deleting from the image 17:40, 10 March 2015 File:Vermont (6255704696).jpg to 17:34,10 March 2015 file:Mt Monadnock (14296195230).jpg. I've deleted some of them from your upload log but the images you mention here are not qualify for deletion because they are not personal user image. For example, this image (File:Vermont (6255704696).jpg) must has some educational value if identified what it is. Dear Nuvola 01, No problem at all, everyone has a starting story :) BTW, according to commons licensing policy we can not accept complex logo without verifying the ownership or permission from the owner because most of them are copyrighted by their owner(s). Now if you are the copyright holder/have the permission to release the logo under free license then please email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org from your official address using the consent from here. Hi I refer to the page 'Iain Robertson' the actor. This change: 10:10, 8 March 2015‎ CommonsDelinker (talk | contribs)‎ . . (17,906 bytes) (-62)‎ . . (Removing "IainRobertson-Actor.png", it has been deleted from Commons by NahidSultan because: No license since 28 February 2015.)

Hi DavidStewart85, First you need to find out who is the original photographer/copyright holder by asking Iain Robertson, Iain Robertson might not be the copyright holder because generally the copyright holder of a photo is the person who took the photo not the subject unless it was transferred by operation of law. Then, you need to ask the photographer/copyright holder to email permissions-commons@wikimedia.org with a release statement for the photo by using this email consent. Files Deleted without validation

Please do not delete files without verifying a reason. Multiple photos that I took myself were deleted claiming copyright violation, and I was not informed until after they were deleted. If I need to change the citations in some way, please tell me once the files are restored.

Deleted files

I would like to talk about two files that you deleted 5 days ago. They both were deleted not fairly.

First file "File:Przebieg-sst.png" is on OpenStreetMap licence http://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright/en On this site is written: "You are free to copy, distribute, transmit and adapt our data, as long as you credit OpenStreetMap and its contributors." You can see, somebody that marked this file to delete didn't have enough argument. I ask you to restore it.
Second file called "File:Gazeta-2.JPG" is only scrap of historical article from 1966. I've got some objections if it trurly need license. Doktor.opi (talk) 16:01, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for replying late. As for the first file, can you please provide the link of source from openstreetmap? We got confused because you uploaded the file as your own work but now you're saying it's from openstreetmap. Could you please explain? But this website, published it's content under free license that you can see bottom all pages of it. two other admins accepted the license ([10] and [11]) but you didn't. Albertogomezgomez images

Hi NahidSultan. You recently deleted a number of images uploaded by Rmark1030 because they lacked permission. A number of the deleted images have been re-uploaded by Abertogomezgomez, but once again no permission has been provided. "Abertgomezgomez" is a newly created account which happens to name of the artist who is supposed to have painted the paintings or taken the photos. It is possible that this is actually the artist himself, but as you know there is no way we can verify this at it could also just be somebody just using his name. I've marked the new uploads with {{Npd}}, but was wondering if you could you take a look at them, and see if there's an alternative approach that could be followed instead. Hi @Marchjuly: I'm afraid we've not much to do without knowing that the uploader is the original creator & given the circumstance, your approach is the only option we have right now. The subject of File:TemporalPanoramaDiscussion-W.jpg & File:Artist in his studio-W.jpg is artist himself, unless the copyright is transferred, we also need the permission from the original photographer. Aziz Sancar copyvio photographs uploaded again

Aziz Sancar photographs have been picked up from other reputable sources over and over again by the same user. See [12]. This photograph was directly picked up from Koc Foundation magazine. Hi, I noticed that the logo for Cosplay Mania has been deleted. I would like to have it up again, but would like to know how to make sure it will not be brought down. I can see that this isn't the first complaint you have, and perhaps you are trolling people because you find it funny, but please don't. This is a pain. On my talk page - User talk:Ikshvaaku - I noticed that you have tagged several images uploaded by me for deletion. It is inappropriate to tag images for deletion on mere suspicion when no body knows how BH works on ground and on line. Please have a look at this note I have posted for reviewers. On that site, there are several images in full-size bearing BH watermark, but on BH itself you can see only half-size images without watermark. Hey Ikshvaaku, we've discussed this issue several times but unfortunately no good result so far. So I guess there's only one option left, let others decide what to do with these images. You've pointed a photo with watermark in higher resolution but I've found plenty of images in other website without BH watermark and those pictures are credited to someoneelse. Why was File:NYMT in Concert with Matt Lucas & Friends - cropped.jpg deleted?

Why was my photo removed? You mention copyright but that's definetly not the case: It's a selfmade photo of a selfmade model so I owe the copyright. It's uploaded again with filename Arado_AR_E_555.jpg.

The photo is deleted because lack of authorship prof. If the photo belongs to your family than original heir should email to COM:OTRS. Usually, the photographer is the copyright holder unless transferred by operation of law. If the copyright holder is deceased, the ownership transfer to his/her spouse and if the spouse is deceased too, they ownership transfer to their children and so on.. Deletion of file

The file is licensed under a Creative Common license, which I believe is compatible with the Wikimedia Commons rules. (I'm new around here, so please let me know if I got this wrong.) I think there are two options, We can ask the subject of the photo about the copyright holder/photographer (Normally subject doesn't own copyright because the copyright holder is the person who clicked the button unless transfer ownership legally) or we we can ask the third party to find the copyright holder which is difficult obviously as you have already mentioned. We must have to find the original copyright holder to know the copyright status of the photo otherwise I'm afraid COM:PRP will be applied here. ~ Nahid ^Talk 07:16, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
