Goodies, tips, and tricks

Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

I see sincerity in the message. This account is still tolerated in this project only because it acts like a worm that decomposes garbage, and nothing more. It's a pity that it doesn't focus on the real garbage – copyright violations – but on images related to freedom of panorama. Being autistic like them, I understand their hyperfocus, but I would like them to realize it and start acting constructively instead of being so harassing as they are now. While I get frustrated by A1Cafel's calls on what to delete and I do believe there is sometimes bias on their part (hopefully unintentional), I do believe that A1Cafel is acting in good faith. I have seen a lot of good work from them. At least on my end I have not seen A1Cafel intentionally trying to bully or troll people. I have only seen A1Cafel make absolutist judgement calls that I would consider on the side of excessive caution rather than in the interest of Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia's mission. Save urls of South Africa FoP deletions

I have one very important request for you as you are by far the largest nominator for South African Freedom of Panorama deletion requests. Since Freedom of Panorama is included in the Copyright Amendment Bill of 2018, which looks likely to pass into law (though no one knows when), I would like to know if you could please save on commons somewhere a list of all of the South Africa Freedom of Panorama deletion requests you have made? That way, when the bill is finally gazetted into law the Admins can go through the list and undelete them. Thank you, Discott (talk) 09:24, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I learned something new

I didn't know that deletion requests need to be categorized manually, but I now noticed that you've been doing such categorizations. I've used those maintenance categories at least once or twice to get an idea of what could fall under TOO, for example. Very helpful categories. I was preparing SOME photos to be transferred and indeed had uploaded some extra photos to my Flickr and adjusted the license appropriately - so in that case there was nothing wrong with that as such, except for the fact that I took a break from the screen and overnight you transferred the photos, while I was prepping them already in Commons with different file names - only a few hours after I had them uploaded to Flickr / changed license. This feels like prying. Also, as result, there are now some duplicates. Do you sniff Flickr and snatch any photo that you see the minute it is released under a lower license? Whatever the case, it simply feels that way. Regardless how easy it is to find such photos in Flickr. I have noticed various Commons people pry on Flickr and upload whatever they can without checking the actual (additional) value for Commons. Not saying that is the case here - although your eagerness to upload whatever is free license, while at the same time also looking for whatever you can nominate for deletion seems to make you sloppy for what you upload yourself.
