Category:Images from Heinrich Böll Foundation

Hi again, I've seen that you marked the category as hidden. That's why now all my categorizations are "invisible". The source here is flickr, not the Heinrich Böll Foundation. So I think there is no more reason to leave this category as a hidden category. (The user FishInWater added to all the images the category Images from Heinrich Böll Foundation in December 2010). Best regards --Florentyna (talk) 07:38, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Stop being a pain. Sure it's from Flickr. From the account of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Sources categories are hidden here. Multichill (talk) 10:35, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Here you are really wrong. The category does not fit into Category:Pictures and images by source at all. Please look at the category. It makes no sense there. --Florentyna (talk) 09:57, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

BIC identifiers

There is a problem with identifiers in Spain. As I told you, there are two types of identifiers:

  • Central ones with format R-I-51-0000000, that we include in its integer form on cawiki or with leading 0 on eswiki.
  • Regional ones with different formats that we include as character string. Some BIC monuments have only a regional id and they are not included in the central inventory for unclear administrative reasons (about 15 years ago the responsability on cultural heritage was transfered to regional administrations).

For example, the first monument in ca:Llista de monuments del Baix Aragó-Casp is not included in the monuments database and thus its image has no template:BIC. Currently we deal with it in two different ways:

  • An unique bic parameter in es(ca) and es(es) with an integer central id whenever is avaible or a character id for regional ones.
  • Two parameters in es-ct(ca), integer bic and character bcin, rendered in the list as bic or if null then bcin. Perhaps eswiki will move to this solution or similar as explained Millars above.

Any suggestion to deal better with it? On the other hand, for template:BIC there will be only 3 or 5 linkable databases. This is one of the reasons that we use different templates on cawiki (Filera BCIN and Filera BIC Val). Perhaps should it be better different templates on Commons accordingly? Instead of {{BIC|<id>|link=VC|idurl=00}} it would be i.e. {{BIC-VC|<id>}} and linked via toolserver with idurl from table es-vc. See you on IRC, but this was not easy to explain. --V.Riullop (talk) 10:20, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

After discussing it in the Spanish mailing list, we have changed bic parameter to its complete form, so now it is not anymore an integer. Please, change in tables es-(ca), es-(es), es-ct-(ca), es-vc-(ca) the definition of bic from integer to character. --V.Riullop (talk) 11:08, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Multichill, Can you update this? Thanks −ebraminiotalk 19:52, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

File:Logo English Apples.png

Multichill I found this logo on Commons, I think we could use one like it on {{Europeana}}, but I am unsure about validity of the license. Do you know if we can use their logo, or does it need to be deleted? --Jarekt (talk) 16:31, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Probably invalid, just leave it be for a moment. I have good reason to believe that this problem will be solved in the next couple of months. Multichill (talk) 16:42, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Geograph

I know I put this on the Batch upload page but just ping here as "urgent". Please retain the grid square information somehow, its a lot more useful for manual fine tuning than the bot-generated location categories and WG84 lat/long. All this lot use the grid ref, and are completely correct locations. There is a significant error rate with the GeographBot script, the bot regularly gets "close" but not "right", and sometimes fails to localise at all. For example with [1]: SD4951 is definitely Category:Broughton, Craven, that info is lost.--Nilfanion (talk) 13:24, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that. :)
A follow-up question, has BotMultichillT gone over any of the files that my bot had already edited? Not sure how the two would interact? I think ideal behaviour would be for your bot to skip adding the location - its already been added after all - and just do the topic cats.--Nilfanion (talk) 17:07, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Churches in Greater Manchester

I've come across several cases where BotMultichillT is miscategorising churches. It correctly categorises them in a subcategory of Category:Churches in Greater Manchester (e.g. Category:Churches in Salford) but then incorrectly also adds them to Category:Churches in Lancashire. Lancashire and Greater Manchester are two distinct counties, a church cannot be in both at the same time. How does the bot decide the categories? (Latest example, which I've now corrected, is File:Eccles Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin - geograph.org.uk - 406644.jpg) -- Dr Greg  talk  02:09, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, please can you stop adding red-link categories for images in Kingston upon Hull as per this edit. All of the categories have a lower case "u" in them not upper-case. These have been corrected several times but the bot keeps re creating them. Keith D (talk) 01:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

That's not supposed to happen. It somehow has to do with Category:Kingston Upon Hull being a redirect category. I'll have to look into this. Multichill (talk) 08:35, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

There appears to be a defect in this upload as only the first 16 seconds of the 3+ minutes will play. Rmhermen (talk) 13:30, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Capaccio

Hi Multichill, Im sure that User talk:Dr.T is a sockpuppet of the nl.wp user Capaccio. With File:Lumbriculus variegatus.jpg I assume that it is an accident although I cant believe that he, with many years expirience, not knows that NC means unfree. However, with some other uploads he simply grabbed images from the internet and declared them his "own work". Thats something new users or some sockpuppeteers do, but for an bureaucrat and sysop this kind of behaviour is not acceptable. Its the second time already, last time I silently blocked User talk:Quatrostein, this time I need someone to speek with him. Can you? --Martin H. (talk) 10:02, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

p.s.: Please see Special:Undelete/File:Jelle_Vossen.png for reference. --Martin H. (talk) 10:30, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Are you 100% these three users are the same? Was this confirmed by a checkuser? If so, this would be really bad. I'll wait for your response before I talk with him (I am boarding an 8 hour flight now anyway). Multichill (talk) 10:37, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
To make sure and do not make a mistake with this accusation: Besides the (expandable) evidences outlined in Special:Undelete/File:Jelle_Vossen.png I can confirm with a quick Checkuser and without any doubt that this accounts are the same user. User talk:Quatrostein was not confirmed by a checkuser but by nl:Overleg_gebruiker:Capaccio/archief03#Kwartnoten. I wish you a good and save flight, there is no hurry with this question. --Martin H. (talk) 10:43, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi there, I think it might be good that I give some explanation here. I can confirm that Quatrostein and Dr.T are former accounts of me (Capaccio), of which the first one was blocked permanently. The second one I used for uploading chemical reactions and pictures. The account Capaccio was made when I globally lock in to the system. I use it now to upload pictures that I made totally by meself. - Capaccio (talk) 16:43, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
The two uploads I made this morning where a terrible mistake: I simply selected the wrong ones for the upload. Those who are uploaded now are (I assume) copyrighted, so they have to be removed! This was absolutely not my intention! I know that in the past I made those mistakes too (under the name Quatrostein). I want seriously to apoglogize for this unfortunate mistake! This is a blame for an experienced user as me. - Capaccio (talk) 17:07, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
should I start searching for some of the older photographs by Dr.T? Actually I did, e.g. those photo of the Happy-Face Spider. You not yet cleaned out those copyviouploads. A mistake? From April 19 you used your SUL account, you not longer used the Dr.T account - except for recent soccer player photos. For using Dr.T and uploading you need to log-out and log-in again. Thats not an accident. I'd prefer if you care for removing all unfree images and stop this. --Martin H. (talk) 20:01, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Multichill, I think it would be better to name templates like Template:Data ingestion configuration AirviewOnline as Template:Data ingestion configuration/AirviewOnline. Is there some good reason to change original naming convention? --Jarekt (talk) 18:01, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Bundesarchiv images

I have used seven pictures from the Bundesarchiv on a webpage. I downloaded them to my own server for response time, but have not modified them in any way. I even kept the original file names, the alt tags, and title tags. http://www.acepilots.com/ships/graf-zeppelin.html But rather than link each individual picture file, I included a link to Wikimedia and Creative Commons underneath the images. Does this comply?

I'm note really a Wikipedia expert. I'm just a webmaster who would like to use some images in the right way. I posted this question also at the Bundesarchiv Commons page. Please forgive me if double-posting or anything else I have done is an error or violation of Wikipedia community standards and practices.

Thanks,

FEMA pictures

Hi! I found that You are running a bot that downloads/downloaded pictures from FEMA agency. I did not understand the system of the downloading, so I did not want to add some pictures myself. Can You please download some pictures from FEMA of the Joplin tornado? Thanks a lot. Okino (talk) 00:14, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi Okino, tried to upload this morning, but it failed. I think FEMA changed the layout of their site a bit so I have to update the bot before I'm able to upload again. I'll get back to you. Multichill (talk) 03:21, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

pywiki question

Hi Multichill,

I've been playing around with your download_WLM.py script and came across something weird which I was wondering if you could explain. When running it with the "-imagelinks" argument on the page User:L_PBot/CoA/test it seems to pick up 7 rather than 6 images. Apart from the six images which it correctly identifies it also finds the extra image "Vapen.svg". This seems to be an artefact of the spaces in the other filenames since if I replace spaces by underscores it instead produces the extra image "Rsamling vapen.svg", i.e. it now picks up on the "ö" character instead. Just wondering if this is something you encountered when using either download_WLM.py or pagegenerator in general. Cheers /Lokal_Profil 16:48, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Think I spotted it. Seems to be due to the "loose = True" parameter when the ImagesPageGenerator, in Pagegenerators, queries for imagelinks. /Lokal_Profil 17:20, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
