Thanks for uploading File:Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun in Military Uniform.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:U Phyo Zeya Thaw - Myanmar Hip-Hop Pioneer and Former Parliamentarian.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:U Phyo Zeya Thaw - Myanmar Hip-Hop Pioneer and Former Parliamentarian.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Removing deletion requests

[edit]

Please do not remove deletion request tags from images before an administrator has closed the debate. If you've changed your mind and think the image should be deleted, that's fine, but you must wait for that to be processed properly by an admin. The admin will remove the template when they close the discussion. --Belbury (talk) 18:02, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, my bad! I only requested The AI enhanced portrait of the individual and it is deleted and hence everything is fine now. So I think that's all. The one I uploaded recently doesn't need to be deleted since it's not AI enhanced it's just a increased brightness and clarity for a better quality view.KhantWiki (talk) 18:03, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
File:Myint Swe.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello Gbawden,
Thank you for notifying me about the possible deletion of Nay Shwe Thway Aung (cropped).jpg.
I'm not the original author of the image. I credited the original creator in the file description. For further clarifications or permissions, please contact the original author directly: UCLmyanmar. Thank you for your patience. I wanted to provide you a recent update on the image in question. I have reached out to BBC News regarding permission to use the image under a CC BY-SA 4.0 license for Wikimedia Commons. They informed me that they do not own the rights to the image nor are they the owner; it is credited to Facebook/Nay Shwe Thway Aung. Based on this, I will update the image's copyright information to accurately reflect this change and link it to Nay Shwe Thway Aung's official Facebook as suggested. Since we found the correct source, will the image be kept? KhantWiki (talk) 09:40, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:General Khin Nyunt.jpg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. If the file that you attempted to upload is within our project scope and is in the public domain or published under a free license, please upload it again under a different name. Thank you. For more information, please see Commons:Overwriting files.

AI upscaling an image is considered to be a controversial alteration, as it introduces details which were not present before.--Belbury (talk) 10:11, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Belbury, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I would like to sincerely apologize for overwriting the existing file—this was not my intention. I see now that AI upscaling is a controversial altercation and I do understand the importance of preserving the original image as it was before.
I'll be more careful in the future to avoid making this mistake again. I'll re-upload the file under a different name if it's within the project scope and properly licensed. I appreciate and understand your guidance on this matter. Thanks again! KhantWiki (talk) 12:17, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you meant by if I'm not mistaken, this version is already recognized as the main profile picture. when restoring the highest resolution AI version of the image, but I see now that this was never the original photo, that the real photo is File:Zaw Min Tun.jpg, so the overwriting doesn't matter here after all.
Do please say in the description or with an {{AI upscaled}} template when you upload any AI-processed images in future, though. Thanks. Belbury (talk) 10:38, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note, @Belbury. I wasn't trying to overwrite the original file, just thought that improving the quality with AI upscaling would be beneficial. I understand now that it's a sensitive area, and I'll make sure to re-upload under a different name if needed. Moving forward, I'll also make it clear when an image is AI-processed.
About my earlier comment: "if I'm not mistaken, this version is already recognized as the main profile picture," I was referring to the image being used as the primary visual presentation. But now I see that this may have caused some confusion. My intention wasn't to suggest any permanent change to the original image, just to enhance what was already there.
Just trying to contribute the best quality possible. Thanks again for your guidance—I'll keep this in mind moving forward. KhantWiki (talk) 11:33, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ninjastrikers, for your understanding and compassion on my contributions (helping me not to get banned from Wikimedia Commons) I truly wants to thank you for that. I'm known as the most clear and the person who always does the right things in the group of the Wikipedia Myanmar Project Group. I have only know this now and I gained knowledge from your advice. What I really thought is that I can legally use the work of others as my own work and I want to apologize for that. I also thought that I could use the work of others as my own creation. Why I really think that I did all of this is because some of the people also use the work of other people creations and claim that this is their own work and there is many people who do that. This is the example that I would like to show you. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Irakli_Kobakhidze_at_Georgian_Dream_Press_Conference_(cropped).jpg#mw-jump-to-license KhantWiki (talk) 14:08, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As a Burmese Wikimedian, I mainly focus on the Myanmar-related images in Commons. But I can not even patrol all newly uploaded images of Myanmar because of other things. If you find any images that violate the Commons' Policy, please do not hesitate to nominate them for the deletion. That will help Wikimedia Commons to build the freely licensed media library. Cheer! NinjaStrikers «» 18:24, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ninjastrikers Also as a pure Burmese Wikipedian/Wikimedian myself, I can see that you're focused on patrolling the Burmese Wikipedia. I will remain more mindful of my uploads of the images in the future. I will be sure to nominate any photos for deletion that violates the terms and service of Wikimedia Commons. I hope that the images that I will upload in the future will be free of copyright violations since that's not my goal. Thank you for all of your advice. Cheers!

Thank you!

Hello KhantWiki.

You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful.

This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions.

NinjaStrikers «» 17:56, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I can understand your reason towards blocking me for the copyright violations, but I must say this to you. I will be more careful towards the copyright license. I do have many questions about it for you. I don't really want to get blocked, I want to find a way on how I can contribute legally without getting in copyright violations. I want to provide vision to everyone with the photos that I upload, while I also don't want to get in the copyright violations trap loop. I hope that you really understand what I'm saying and what my point is and the whole idea of me contributing here. That's all I have to say to you. Your account has been blocked

[edit]

--Yann (talk) 16:39, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, dear administrator Yann, this block to me is unjustified, at least in my opinion. I do take notice and action that I have been uploading copyrighted pictures on Commons. Not every file that I upload is copyrighted. If you don't believe me, You can check it yourself, some of my recent photo uploads are not copyrighted. In conclusion, it's not a justified reason to block me. Reverting my deletion of my user talk page doesn't also excuse for a reason to block the account. KhantWiki (talk) 16:40, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Account unblock

[edit]
Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Greetings, I would like to get straight to the point. My request for the unblock of my account is that it's not a fair reason nor a justified obligation of a choice by clearly choosing to block me on Wikimedia Commons. I'm KhantWiki, a fellow contributor from Myanmar, who's currently helping uploading photos and editing articles on here. You can only see my mistakes of uploading copyright pictures, but you can't see what I really do on here. There's many copyright free pictures that I have uploaded on Commons that goes along with the copyright law, if you don't believe me, you can check my whole contribution list here if you can, instead of seeing my mistakes only which you can only point a finger at me on. Many Wikipedian and Wikimedian contributors that live in the same country as I am from, respects me, they doesn't see me as a user disregarding the copyright policy laws of Commons, they see me as a contributor who genuinely wants to contribute, not to vandalize here and disrupt the policy of copyright laws here, what I'm trying to say is that I am unlike any other users here, in conclusion for my unblock, I'm not a user who is only using Wikimedia Commons for vandalism or a person who keeps uploading copyrighted pictures on Commons. This case of me can be described as uncontroversial, a obvious case. Everyone can make mistakes, they can learn from them, they will not be just there doing it over and over again and it's unnecessary to do so, unless if someone is using Wikimedia Commons for disrupting and violating the copyright policy laws of Wikimedia Commons, or a person who just uses their account for vandalism on Commons. See WP:CIVIL. Thanks, from a fellow contributor."
Decline reason: "Users can be unblocked, if they understand reasons of their block and give a credible promise not to continue. The first condition is fulfilled, the second is not. I'm afraid, that if unblocked, you will continue uploading copyright violations and you will be blocked again. To prevent that, please read and obey COM:L. You have one week for that, because your block lasts one week. Taivo (talk) 08:47, 9 October 2024 (UTC)"[reply]

@Taivo That's alright Taivo, I clearly understand you and your points in what you're trying to say to me. I will be careful onwards of my photo uploads on Wikimedia Commons and I'm looking forward to freely contribute that goes along with the law of Commons. I will not keep on continuing to upload copyright violations, that way I can learn more about contributing and people will not misunderstand me. The one week block of my account is not a problem for me, I can handle it because I take action for uploading copyright violations, unless of course adding more numbers to that is quite not fair, for now it is fair. I did read COM:L and I faithfully obey the rules written there. I can understand that you administrators are just doing your jobs, I have nothing against to say to you all or nothing against you, I just simply asked to be unblocked and not get blocked again, if I follow the rules obediently unless I get flagged for copyright violations again, also no one have to block me without any reason unless the reason is valid like this one. I will be more self aware moving forward on the future. I'm here to contribute, not to cause problems between copyright violations. I got blocked out of nowhere without any warnings so I don't like that, besides that the one who blocked me is Yamla. Another problem that I have while having my account blocked, I can't edit photos, add information, add categories, description, caption, etc. I can't even do anything while being blocked, at least you can block me with unabling to upload photos, that's acceptable, now I can't even edit anything, which is really problematic for blocking me. I found it quite annoying. Thank you @Taivo.

Thank you for the notice dear administrator @User:Ninjastrikers I am finding the source for the file description of all of these media images that includes Sai Htee Saing.jpg, Kyaw Hein.jpg, and Kyaw Hein in 1980's.jpg that you have mentioned right on my user talk page. For the Kyaw Hein.jpg, I found many sources such as https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bFmKm77O-R0, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nyO8iE2w8bY, https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1E1uAoeAFhRMQuvL/, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/9szamJQV1rVXXJyd/, and this final source is the one that I used,- https://www.facebook.com/share/Jn9byBz8XKkpAGnk/ this final source is the one that I used, the photo is old and in the public domain since the death of the author which is the individual in the photo, the 1. 4. or 3. rule of PD-Myanmar applies to it because "This is a work of applied art and 25 years have passed since the year of its creation (that is, the work was made before 1999). This also applies "This is an anonymous or pseudonymous work, and 50 years have passed since the year of its creation or publication (that is, the relevant action was done before 1974)". This final rule of PD-Myanmar also

applies "This is an audio-visual and cinematographic work, and 50 years have passed since the year of its creation (that is, the work was made before 1974)". KhantWiki (talk) 16:34, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Although you provided the sources, they can not be used under free license since the permissions are still missing. According to Myanmar's copyright law, audio-visual works are under public domain after 50 years have passed since the year of its creation. File:Sai Htee Saing.jpg (unknown date), File:Kyaw Hein in 1980's.jpg (dated 1980s) and File:Kyaw Hein.jpg (can't confirm it was from 1970s), therefore all of three photos may not be under public domain due to unconfirmed date of creation. NinjaStrikers «» 04:31, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your concerns related with this situation dear administrator @Ninjastrikers, for that reason I will find public domain images that already have a verified permission along with the status of the correct date on these images, they're only difficult to find though, the thing is that is more easier than to find is the new images in the public domain, for that reason I have uploaded images that are legal for use and they're on public domain. Please check out my recent contributions especially on that matter with File:Zaw Min Tun during the VOA interview on March 2023.jpg and File:Kyaw Thu during a VOA interview on September 16, 2012.jpg, thank you for guiding me on this matter, Ninjastrikers, with your guidance and advice, I have uploaded many free images to Commons. You can check that out with File:AST HlaThaung.jpg, File:Suk Bahadur Rai.jpg, and finally File:U Ko Ni during a VOA interview on February 15, 2015.jpg, I am looking more forward to uploading free pictures with correct license, date and information like these images. I also think of creating new articles in the future. I'm really glad that you trust me and since we both really have Good faith , we can significantly improve the Myanmar Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons like never before. I had recently added a source for the image file of Kyaw Hein.jpg, you can check it directly there in the image description, if the source is not accurate, it's up to you to decide whether or not the file should be kept or deleted, for me that source is what I'm using in the image. Your account has been blocked

[edit]

Taivo (talk) 17:51, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We meet again dear administrator @Taivo, I can understand why you want to block me for the second time (second block), I accept it anyway as your reason is justified. Can you clarify, explain, give advice to me honestly? I would really appreciate it, if you do that. Thank you @Taivo. I hope to not break copyright rules of violation again. I completely respect the rules and your decision. KhantWiki (talk) 18:06, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is no other advice than learn and obey our copyright policies. I said to you, when declining your unblock request: "I'm afraid, that if unblocked, you will continue uploading copyright violations and you will be blocked again." You still uploaded copyright violations and got blocked again. Our copyright rules are not so difficult. Most users never get blocked. Taivo (talk) 21:42, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply on giving advice @Taivo, I am really gonna follow the copyright policies of Wikimedia Commons, as I have respect for Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and administrators like you. I don't have any upsetting feelings for you and anyone that reported me and blocked me, I understand and I can see that I had made many mistakes, I really want to learn from them, which you also wants me to learn from. Make no mistake that I'm a contributor and not a vandal, I will definitely learn much more. So please have patience and faith in me. I apologize if my contributions transformed into copyright violations, I want my contributions to be just contributions only. But may I request another unblock review, even after if I got unblocked, I will probably not upload copyrighted images anymore. It's okay if it still get rejected, the consequences will still be there. KhantWiki (talk) 09:32, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Second time of request for the unblock of my account

[edit]
Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Hello, Wikimedia Commons administrators, for too long I have consumed copyright violations, most appropriately I got blocked 1 time on October 8, 2024. At that time it's my first time of the block of my account, I still have so much experience about Wikimedia Commons, even though I lack a little knowledge. Right after that I started uploading photos which again got caught in copyright and causes me to get blocked again by Taivo on November 1, 2024. I have contributed many public domain images mostly from VOA which Wikimedia Commons accept, but not all of my contributions floats to the same way, most may go the right way, while the others goes the wrong way. For the first time of the block of my account, I can accept it because it's only one week, but this second block, which I completely understand the reason for, is 1 month. I know the date may be much more consequential like 2 months, 3 months, or even 1 year. Thanks to administrator Taivo, it's only one month, it's still a little too much to wait. Once again, I deeply want to apologize to all, I give a credible promise not to continue, to not continue uploading copyright pictures, I will carefully examine and double check the status of the photos before uploading them, I won't let it happen the third time again, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience from the first and second block. Now, I have more knowledge as of than being blocked for the first time. I have carefully read Commons:Licensing many many times, which I really understand. I understand how bad and consequential it is for uploading copyright violations to Wikimedia Commons, how frustrating it is for administrators to clean up such things and give warnings to users. But, I guarantee you, I promise to not do that again. Making a mistake one time is completely normal and understandable, as it's the first time. Second time is also understandable as that's where you gain alots of knowledge and experience of what to do and what to not do on here. For the third time, I will not do it again. I know a lot of that now. Simply I would avoid uploading at all costs even if it meant that way, I would update file descriptions, captions, etc. Once again, I apologize for requesting the second unblock review as I have always requested the first review when I got blocked for the first time.. I will not upload unfree files again after many warnings that I have received. I would also like to send apologies to Yann and Taivo, if you're reading this, I respect you all as a honorable administrators of Wikimedia Commons. It's okay if it still gets rejected, but it would be much better if you accept the appeal as I'm also a new user. Thank you to all."
Decline reason: "Declining this unblock request as the block has already expired. @KhantWiki: Please be extra careful from now on especially when uploading files on Commons. Violating policies again will lead to harsher sanctions. Jianhui67 TC 16:19, 5 December 2024 (UTC)"[reply]

KhantWiki (talk) 12:11, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jianhui67 TC Indeed, The block is expired after I have waited for the whole 1 months. No problem, and thank you Jianhui67. What a coincidence that you have replied at that timing, because I'm just reading the Commons Licensing, and I'm looking at the mistakes that I have done such as the copyrighted files, my replies, people's replies of me, and those pictures that I have uploaded. After looking back at everything especially after 1 month of the block, I have noticed that my actions were totally in the wrong. I have noticed that such of my uploads and comments were not correct. At the time, I do not have that much knowledge or experience to combat those irregularities, it's really different with the knowledge and experience that I have collected in the now. I am really sorry for that and I have given a credible promise to not continue further. KhantWiki (talk) 16:25, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose No confidence that you know copyright rules now. And you still cannot write my name. It is not so difficult. Taivo (talk) 13:01, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Haha that's funny, sorry about that, I corrected it now. But it's already correct at the very first paragraph when I mentioned your name, it's just a small typo in the second paragraph. You're right, it's not difficult to spell your name as it's just one letter name. As for copyright concerns, I can guarantee that anyone can learn from it. But you can oppose as you want, for me I definitely understood it. Here's what I have learned: "Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content, that is, images and other media files that are not subject to copyright restrictions which would prevent them being used by anyone, anytime, for any purpose."

This is just a brief overview of what I have learned. I have learned much more as I have read the whole Commons:Licensing policy page. KhantWiki (talk) 13:08, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This user left a message on my enwiki page. After looking at a few of the examples, and the user saying in Commons:Deletion requests/File:Soe Thu performing in Myanmar on December 10, 2003.jpg "I own the work and I have the rights except to being the photographer, I don't think being a photographer means having the rights. If I created the work myself, I own the rights", I definitely think the second block was appropriate. I also share Taivo's concern that the user may still not have the necessary knowledge of copyright rules. Abzeronow (talk) 19:06, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had explained to you many times, that I have no access to comment on other user talk pages including administrators, I'm not talking about my own account user talk page. In fact if that's what you're talking about, I have no clue that I can mention administrators on my talk page. Just because I said that stuff you quoted me saying doesn't mean that it's appropriate for the second block.. If I have no 'necessary knowledge' about copyright rules, why does some images that I have uploaded goes along with copyright status? Most are in the public domain. It doesn't mean I don't have a necessary knowledge of copyright, as expected I'm a new user on Commons, I just need some guidance on it and that's all. KhantWiki (talk) 19:51, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was merely stating that I was asked to review by you (and the matter has been resolved on enwiki). I can impart knowledge if you wish, your statement that I quoted was incorrect because copyright vests with the photographer, and faithful copies of a photograph (scans, screenshots) don't start a new copyright. In order to keep that relative's photograph, we'd need them to contact COM:VRT with the camera EXIF and verify that they grant permission for a free license. Abzeronow (talk) 18:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I get it Abzeronow, and I know what you're saying will be really useful for me in the future. I realized I've made mistakes with uploading photos, especially that picture of Soe Thu. It wasn’t taken by my relative; it’s from some random YouTuber. I thought that by uploading it, I owned the rights, but I now see that’s not the case. Even photos of this person with my relatives are still copyrighted, so I’ve decided not to upload them. Most of the photos I’ve uploaded were accepted because they’re in the public domain, but I now understand that uploading pictures requires more care and attention. I don't know why my unblock request hasn't been reviewed yet? Regarding your comment about me lacking 'necessary knowledge,' at first, I disagreed, but after thinking it over, I see you were right. I do need to learn more about copyright. I promise to be more careful in the future and not upload anything without fully understanding its status. I truly want to get this right, and I apologize for any trouble caused.. For your conclusion, I had been reading Commons:Licensing many times to not make the same mistakes thrice.
