Dear Armbrust, where can I find the CC license tag or notice for http://spiralperiodictable.com/ ? I can not find it. --ALE! ¿…? 18:37, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Well than you don't search good enough. Under the picture is the following text: "Spiral Periodic Table by Robert W Harrison is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License". Armbrust (talk) 18:43, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Please be more careful in categorizing your images, as Category:Luna refers to a place in Spain, not the character w:Luna Lovegood. Also, I'm bit puzzled why you uploaded those images, as I can't exactly see what encyclopedic purpose they serve. Thanks for your attention and possible response. JesseW (talk) 04:14, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Well they were requested at WP:FFU and as the license was compatible, I didn't see any rationale to decline the request. As for the categories, at that time I didn't have many time to check them, because someone requested the upload of 58 pictures in the same section. (BTW, only registered to TUSC account because of this section.) Armbrust (talk) 09:40, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey,

There is an error in the line-up image you created. On the Uruguay side, Álvaro Pereira played as the LM, not Cristian Rodríguez. When you do correct it, make sure to have him as "Á. Pereira", and Maxi (RB) as "M. Pereira". Thanks. Digirami (talk) 18:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

Corrected "Rodríguez" to "Pereira", because no lineup for this tournament uses the "Á. Pereira" or "M. Pereira". Armbrust (talk) 06:00, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Picture - Jonathan_Huberdeau_WJC12_press_conference.jpg

Resolved

Hello, I saw that you recently reviewed a photo that is now on Huberdeau's wiki. However, I'm 95% sure that is not Jonathan Huberdeau in the picture in question, but rather Nathan Beaulieu. Here is another picture of Beaulieu for comparison, while this is Huberdeau. Also, Nathan_Beaulieu_WJC12_press_conference.jpg is another photo that I'm not sure actually features him. Maybe that is actually Ryan Murray? Ho-ju-96 (talk) 10:39, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but I absolutely don't know, who is on the picture. I just reviewed, that the file is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic at FlickR. And even if you were right, that the files name is wrong, I can't help you, as I'm not a filemover on Commons. Armbrust (talk) 10:46, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Buryat anthem in Russian

Resolved

It seems that File:Anthem of Buryatia Russian version.ogg is likely duplicate of File:Anthem of Buryatia.ogg. File:Anthem of Buryatia Russian version.ogg should be in Russian, not Buryat. Could you visit http://fivemusic.ru/song/Гимн+Бурятия and look for Гимн Республики Бурятия - на русском языке (the song in Russian, not Buryat [which the Buryat version titles as Дугаржап Дашиев - "Гимн Бурятии" (на бурятском)]) to replace File:Anthem of Buryatia Russian version.ogg. Changing licenses

Resolved

Hi, Armbrust. First of all: thank you for all your efforts in License Reviewing! I saw you changed license here, which in effect turns the latest version into the oldest version of the cc-by-sa. I think it is good policy to take the current=latest version of a given license when no version number is given. Perhaps we should stick to that. Thank you. Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 08:06, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Okay, but what if a new version of Creative Commons comes out? Should the license than changed to CC-BY-SA-4.0 for example? User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 08:08, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I don't think that should - in fact the precise choice of license stays unclear. But replacing it by default to -1.0 doesn't seem very accurat either. Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 11:38, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

You click on the image you want to download, then you reach a new page. There are icons. Click on the second one from right (if you hover over it, than is shows "View the original image") and you reach the original size of the image. For example in the case of this file, you reach this screen first and this file. User:Armbrust (Local talk - en.Wikipedia talk) 10:22, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Reason For Marking The Co-operative Electrical logo.jpg a copyvio

Resolved

I just wanted to explain to you why I marked these images The Co-operative Bank logo.jpg, and The Co-operative Electrical logo.jpg as possible copyvios is because even though on their Flickr page of the Logos, it said it was marked under CC-BY 2.0. But on the actual company website it said everything is Copyrighted see their website at the footer of the page, and also on the company's disclaimer for the website. As such I marked the logo's of The Co-operative Inc. that User:Stevo1000 uploaded for to be on the safe side, also I used in my best judgment to mark it as a Copyvio. Also I believe that if an image is copyrighted by their company or the company says on their website that All Rights Reserved, but its listed on their Flickr Photostream as CC-BY or other related licenses. That the copyright takes precedence unless we get the actual company to release it under CC-BY or other related licenses. Or just contact them to confirm, that they intened to publish it on their Flickr stream or other Photo hosting sites, under the licences listed there. I hope you understand why I did that. Because of the conflicting licenses stated on their website and disclaimer against the one on the Flickr Photostream. Also I just noticed on this on one of their pages mentioning their Copyright use of the Logos here. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 23:25, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello everyone. For my 6th nom, I want to introduce a sensible candidate for adminship, Armbrust. He has been an user on Commons since May 2009 and had over 4500 edits which greatly involves in license reviewing and copyvio hunting. He is also a great user at enwiki with 140,242 edits. I think the rights could be useful to Armbrust for deleting obvious copyright violations and unfree Flickr files while license-reviewing. He has accepted my proposal (see here). Thank you Morning Sunshine (talk) 08:37, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

  •  Neutral. Cannot oppose due to excellent contributions to Commons. Cannot support due to ownership attitudes, strongly expressed by the candidate in English Wikipedia. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 18:15, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Neutral. Armbrust (whose name I almost always misspell by swapping the r and the u) does a lot of good work, but has a few blocks for edit warring. I'm not sure about his temperament, but I'm willing to give him the chance. Sven Manguard Wha? 07:12, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Neutral. I'm not inclined to oppose, but the enwiki block log is concerning—not because of the blocks themselves, but because the disputes that led to them show that Armbrust doesn't always handle disagreements well. However, he has done a tremendous amount of good work both here and on enwiki, and he shouldn't be judged purely on that block log. I would have liked to have seen a slightly longer answer to my question, so I'd be interested to see the answer to 99of9's, which may swing my vote one way or t'other. •  Neutral I've wavered between this and a weak oppose. For me there are a few aspects making me feel slightly uneasy. If this application is successful, I hope you will learn a lot from our critical comments. Although you have a reasonable eye for spotting copyvios and problems, for an admin candidate whose main uploads are from third party sources, I would have expected it to be more highly attuned. Even when I specifically asked about some of your problematic uploads, the answers weren't ideal (#1 missed that it was a copyvio, and didn't even go for contacting the "author" or COM:PRP. #2 didn't seem to fully appreciate the legal requirement of attribution). The answer about edit warring policy was very brief, took days and a talk page reminder (despite editing here and on en-wiki in the meantime), and boils down to an assumption rather than precedent or policy. In fact, we have no 3RR, just a prohibition against edit warring, so things are different to en-wiki, and a crucial part of our blocking policy is warnings before the escalating blocks you suggest. Maybe that's what you intended but were unable to convey it with your short answer - so maybe your communication style needs to be improved (also crucial for an admin). On the other hand, what I've seen of the bulk of your work, including license reviewing and tagging, looks good - and this is also quite similar to a lot of deletion work. In the end what made me stay neutral rather than oppose is that I haven't seen any indications on commons of bad faith or a problematic attitude. --99of9 (talk) 00:08, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Oppose those blocks are numerous and spread over years. And the last one is from August, so temperament is in question here. Hekerui (talk) 08:10, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Oppose That's too many blocks for a sysop candidate. --Sreejith K (talk) 17:31, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Support I'm a little bothered by the en.wikipedia blocks, though his behavior seems to be better here at Commons. I also share 99of9's concerns in general. But I'm supporting per 99of9's second-to-last sentence - "the bulk of your work ... looks good" and per Tjinstel. Have a shot at it. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 13:17, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Oppose too my blocks for a sysop candidate. Udufruduhu (talk) 16:52, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Oppose There's some very solid support above from very solid citizens, so I don't like opposing this, but given the block log -- 23 reverts on the same file in an hour and a half on August 14, I don't see how Armbrust can be an Admin here. We need people who can deal constructively with problems, whatever the facts of the case. Sure, we have some very difficult editors to deal with, but an Admin's job is to make things work more smoothly, not simply pound away at problems over and over. Enlisting help, or simply leaving it for a day after the first two problems, would have been better solutions. Perhaps he should come back in six months, with a clean record both there and here, and a bit more time spent here on DRs and other relevant work. .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 20:18, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Neutral - reading all this - its hard to support - en behaviour and attitude usually does flow over to here, regardless of what anyone says... vice versa operates too SatuSuro (talk) 13:36, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Oppose per a couple of the above. --Herby talk thyme 15:17, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
  •  Neutral Considering the blocks on en.wikipedia I'm tending to oppose this request, but hence his block log on commons is clean I'm neutral. Give it some time and file for another RfA in a year or so.--FAEP (talk) 23:15, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
