Copyright status: File:Trans-Siberian, Irkutsk - Beijing.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Trans-Siberian, Irkutsk - Beijing.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
No required license templates were detected at this file page. Please correct it, or if you have any questions please contact me on my talk page. Yours sincerely, Jarekt (talk) 12:44, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]File:'Surtsey Island' -- 'Iceland Revealed' National Museum of Natural History (DC) May 2016.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Buffalo by month and year
[edit]So as of now, you've only got one image for the entire category of November 2014 in Buffalo. Hey, if I'm wrong about those other two images being in Buffalo, I'll live with it, but I was really hoping there were other relevant pictures for that category available. ----DanTD (talk) 03:39, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hopefully some will turn up; I'm sure I could dig into my own archives if it's really that important. But as it stands, of the three options:
- live with having a one-item November 2014 in Buffalo category,
- stick the snowstorm/sign photo in 2014 in Buffalo alongside eleven other month-categories, or
- fudge the locations of photos known or suspected not to have been taken in Buffalo for the sake of filling the November 2014 category
- ...I think the first of those is the least bad one.
Hi AndreCarrotflower. After patrolling your edits for the past 2 weeks, I've decided to file an AP request for you at Commons:Requests_for_rights#Autopatrol as your edits have been more or less good enough for an AP right. If you do not want this user right, please do state it at the nomination page. 大诺史 (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 13:40, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Green Giant (talk) 14:34, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Declaration
[edit]Hello AndreCarrotflower, just checking on this matter. Do you have a seperate account on commons? If you do have a seperate account, do kindly declare it. 大诺史 (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 16:46, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- User:大诺史 - Yes, and I'm hoping someone can help me sort it out. User:AndreCarrotflower was established at the pre-WMF version of Wikivoyage and was ported over during the merger process, by which time I had already established a separate User:Andre Carrotflower account at Commons. I have always been led to believe that it's impossible to merge accounts now that Central Authorization is in effect, and had settled into a pattern of using User:Andre Carrotflower to upload self-published material and User:AndreCarrotflower for all other purposes. However, if I'm wrong and it is indeed possible, I would very much like the two accounts to be merged. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 16:51, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- Can you add in {{User Alternate Acc}}, or which ever suits you, to sort-of declare your accounts? 大诺史 (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 17:02, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- User:大诺史 - I will do that, but do you have any information on the possibility of merging the accounts? -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 17:03, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, this is the only page I found that might help you with your issues. You can also bring this matter up to someone with the rights (possibly a steward) to help you with this. I’ll let you know if I find any other useful pages. 大诺史 (Talk/留言/토론/Discussion) 04:20, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you, I appreciate that. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 14:42, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi. Merging accounts with different names is not possible currently and as far as I recall it is not a top priority of the developers at the moment. Please see m:Help:Unified login#I have two or more accounts with different names. Can they be merged into one account?. -Green Giant (talk) 12:17, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
"Alumni Arena is the indoor venue, UB Stadium is where football is played"
[edit]Hello, since you are better acquainted with Greater Buffalo than I am, could you check and correct the coordinates of Alumni Arena (Q4737428) and University at Buffalo Stadium (Q7894992)? Thank you. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 08:37, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
- Done. They both pointed to UB Stadium; I adjusted Alumni Arena's. -- Andre Carrotflower (talk) 15:40, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

NYCRR Freight Houses
[edit]How can you say that the "New York Central Black Rock Freight House" isn't a Former New York Central Railroad station? It's in the name, even if it's not a passenger station. ----DanTD (talk) 02:15, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- In the most nitpickily technical sense, I suppose you're right. But in practice, "station" equals "passenger station" in common parlance and for most of our users, and placing a freight house in a category devoted to railroad stations (where the overwhelming absence of non-passenger stations is notable and unlikely to be coincidental) is likely to lead to more confusion than benefit for our user base. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 03:14, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

Help out on a problem?
[edit]Hi, Andre. How's it going?
I know you're a Commons admin now, and I'm wondering if you could take a look at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:EugeneZelenko. He is a bureaucrat, but he has been misbehaving in regard to speedy deletion tags and deletion requests, and the crucial point is that he is unwilling to admit to ever making a mistake. However, it would appear that the admins who have noticed the ANU thread may be sitting on it, unless there has been a debate somewhere off-site. Almost a month has passed since I started the linked thread. I believe an admin or bureaucrat who behaved like this on Wikivoyage would have been asked to resign at least temporarily as a sysop by now, but things go slowly on Commons, so a more moderate suggestion that he be told to stop tagging files for speedy deletion or adding deletion requests for a period of 3 months has so far gone unacted upon. Several users in the thread I linked and the associated Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/Blocks and protections#User:EugeneZelenko (DR ban) have expressed the opinion that admins on Commons have made one another essentially immune from blocks or bans. I know that's an inaccurate perception, because I remember User:INeverCry, but that was a more drastic case of using sockpuppets to falsify votes on this site. Anyway, some kind of real action in this case would improve confidence in moderation on this site.
All my best,
